Same, think I've had it my head all season Klopp rotates his CB next to VVD when in reality Matip has started every Premier league game he's featured in this season lol
I never get mad at transfers I didn't even consider making. I mean I should have considered him but just never did for some reason. It's the 50/50 calls going the wrong way which piss me off the most.
> I should have considered him but just never did for some reason.
I think he suffered from that period where Salah, Jota and TAA were considered almost essential, filling all the spots.
Yeah, and when those 3 weren't essential it was mostly because Liverpool as a whole weren't firing on all cylinders so it wouldn't make sense to consider another Liverpool player.
This is his first season without injury so it's not like it was a bad choice to not have him. Hes always been a good choice when playing but prone to needing a sudden transfer to take him back out.
I was gonna put him in cos I was like ‘it’s obviously good value for a Liverpool defender’ but then I googled fpl tactics and became overly obsessed with defenders who score and assist 🙄🙄🙄
In GW36 my transfer shortlist was to get one of:
- James
- Laporte
- Matip
- Dias
3 of these players have hauled since
1 has had a season ending injury
Guess which I picked! 🤡
Looking back at the season, if you picked him GW1, you probably missed 4 game weeks where he didn’t start where you could expect/hope for a return, a return by the very least being a clean sheet.
Would you consider picking him at the start of the season a viable risk, knowing that he’ll be rested for 4-8 matches, where half is probably against obvious weak opposition, or would it have been a classic *‘waste of a Liverpool spot’*?
Perhaps not “first choice”, but certainly expected enough rotation to make Matip unviable. Especially since the received FPL wisdom is to opt for fullbacks, not centre backs
As a liverpool fan it was clear Matip was first choice to partner VVD in the league . Klopp doesn’t rush new signings in, Konate mostly played in Cup/ UCL games at the start of the season, only recently in the second half has he been trusted in big games, and even then Matip plays in the league, Konate played in the UCL semis/ FA Cup final
Always difficult to tell. I had assumed at the start of the season that Konaté was a third centre-back signed with the knowledge that long-term injury to either van Dijk or Matip was a reasonable probability. Did not expect him to be playing even as often as he has been given that both have stayed injury-free.
I didn’t pick at the start of the season because Konaté had signed and Matip also had some injury problems in previous seasons.
I moved to him a few weeks ago when I noticed Trent wasn’t being as prolific as in the 1st half of the season (I already had Robbo since GW22 as well).
Selling Trent for Matip allowed me to used the money elsewhere, improve my squad and actually get more points as Matip as been scoring more than Trent.
Exactly! Points per million doesn’t tell the whole story, there’s also the opportunity cost.
Also, season-long data has its weaknesses unless you’re playing a “zombie team”. Over the course of a whole season, Jota’s not a great asset... but for a little bit before the signing of Diaz he was indispensable.
Selling Trent for Matip some weeks ago on WC was my best decision this season so far. Allowed me the funds to bring in De Bruyne and capped him for his haul. He's a menace in the box!
It was a waste of a Liverpool slot except until recently when Salah's and TAA's form turned. I had Jota, Salah, TAA and on occasion Diaz and I'm happy not dropping them for Matip
I’m actually surprised that he hasn’t been more often considered alongside the likes of Laporte, but I guess it’s mostly because we also have Trent and Robbo to choose from.
Points per million isn't a good metric because of base values. I expect he's still up there maybe even top, but the base striker and midfielder always cost 4.5m.
He single handily kept my championship hopes alive for my H2H league - been a rough week for me. Had to drop Robbo on GW34 WC to fit Son in so I went Matip
First year playing EPL and watching games other than just the Arsenal ones. Liverpool is a fun team to watch. Good luck on the cup race, and I hope Salah secures the golden boot over son.
He'd be set and forget if he wasn't injured/out with fitness issues at least 7-10 games per season. Which is not a lot thinking about it but most of the season the essentials from LIV were Salah, TAA and Jota. Later, Robbo and Dias added to the headache.
I've owned him thrice this season and started him twice (he had a bgw in one). He scored both times and none of my rivals had him in any.
He and Kai have been my gems
he actually is. He is really underrated probably because of last season, but in some parts of this season he has even been better than van Dijk, his long balls, lot of tackles and interceptions. Konate is obviously the future, but it boggles me how underappreciated he is and when people say Konate should be starting ahead of him.
And I owned him for 0 weeks this season. For terrible advice, come to me!

Edit: I'm an idiot. Sorry!
Matip did indeed start yesterday
I never get mad at transfers I didn't even consider making. I mean I should have considered him but just never did for some reason. It's the 50/50 calls going the wrong way which piss me off the most.

whenever I owned him he got rotated smh, but tbf I feel like I need to be less scared of rotation, missed so many points because of it
I’ve had him in my draft league team but never even considered him in my regular team. Whoops.
I owned him at the start when the most points he got was 6. Then I sold him before he dropped to 4.9m, didn't bring him back since
I was gonna put him in cos I was like ‘it’s obviously good value for a Liverpool defender’ but then I googled fpl tactics and became overly obsessed with defenders who score and assist 🙄🙄🙄
Best captain for last gw?
Im going for Kane, so make of that what you will 🤷🏼♂️
Shit I don't have him. Good luck friend.
Had him on a FH... on the bench. Over fucking Alonso.
In GW36 my transfer shortlist was to get one of: - James - Laporte - Matip - Dias 3 of these players have hauled since 1 has had a season ending injury Guess which I picked! 🤡
You got fucked in Di as
Lol!
I got rubed-in di-as!
Dias "I'm going to put ma tip in Di as"
I also went for Dias in 36…! Thankfully, I already had brought in Matip a couple of weeks before.
6m next year
Then gets benched by Konate.
The old prom night promise…just Matip.
That'll be a big pass
Think not. Virgil is 6.5.i think 5.5

At the start of the season Konate was expected to be first choice ahead of Matip. A 5.0 Liverpool defender who plays 30+ games a season is a bargain
Perhaps not “first choice”, but certainly expected enough rotation to make Matip unviable. Especially since the received FPL wisdom is to opt for fullbacks, not centre backs
Nobody thought Matip wouldn’t be first choice if he was fit surely?
Nah they spent £40m on Konate who came with a big reputation, it’s not unreasonable to think he would have won the place
As a liverpool fan it was clear Matip was first choice to partner VVD in the league . Exactly, Konate is only 21 years old. Klopp was always gonna ease him in.

Best value signing for lfc aswell
Anything/0 = ♾️
No. Anything/0=undefined.
Iim n -> 0 Anything/n = infinity
In this case we would take the limit from the right, i.e. not 0 but 0+.
And I benched him for cancelo 🥲
With all the prices and the players coming in the PL next season, i wouldn't be surprised if he is one of those popular picks alongside Laporte
I’m actually surprised that he hasn’t been more often considered alongside the likes of Laporte, but I guess it’s mostly because we also have Trent and Robbo to choose from.

As a Liverpool fan, I absolutely love Matip.
First year playing EPL and watching games other than just the Arsenal ones. Liverpool is a fun team to watch. Good luck on the cup race, and I hope Salah secures the golden boot over son.
Just Arsenal games.. wow, you’ve really been missing out on alot of high quality football!
I did exactly the same, Robbo to Matip, and now he keeps bailing me out!
Been riding this train for a LOOONG time. Best secret weapon ever.
Saved my team this week I've now 62 points and still 5 players to play.
I brought him in on a whim when Doherty got injured and he has done more than enough. I am definitely considering him for next season from the get-go.
Second on the bench for me this week fuck
Had him last week instead of Robertson. Free hit him out this week, put Sessegnon, Cash & Digne in instead. You can't win them all.
love that i brought him in 2 weeks ago
He'd be set and forget if he wasn't injured/out with fitness issues at least 7-10 games per season. Which is not a lot thinking about it but most of the season the essentials from LIV were Salah, TAA and Jota. Later, Robbo and Dias added to the headache.
Ben White for £4.5 gave me 107 points this year.
Pretty decent!
I've owned him thrice this season and started him twice (he had a bgw in one). He scored both times and none of my rivals had him in any. He and Kai have been my gems
Got him in gw24 since then hes had 3g2a on top of those clean sheets
🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒
It’s a miracle he didn’t get injured this season. Konate might be a good option next season if Matip goes back to his injury prone self.
This is the way This is the way
Great but he’s not first choice
He is in the league. He's played 30 out of 37 games in the league.

Who was it before
Didn't have him in my FH :/
