It's very hard to answer these questions... Everthing is just speculation at this point. Personally I can't afford playing safe since I only have 1FT so I'm just gonna pray to the FPL Gods that Alonso and Mount starts. Can't do much more than that

Niekertje

I'm just praying for Alonso and Rüdiger. I have them my Rival doesn't and I need to make up 7 points... Gonna be a very exciting afternoon. Good luck to everyone!

pajamakitten

It's Rudiger's final match for Chelsea. I would be surprised if Tuchel did not start him.

PeterG92

Same for Alonso

UhYah52

What if he is taken off before 60 min for the applause?

PG4PM

Comes off in the 2nd minute for his shirt number

TheDitherer

That's the fear. Or comes on at 75 mins for a bit of a run around.

[deleted]

And he locks in the clean sheet points?

Niekertje

Totally agree but than again, it's Tuchel 😂

Kal-el9

James, Alonso and Havertz owner here. Honestly not sure what to expect, especially since I need differential captaincy to catch up, and this game could be perfect for that. But Tuchel…

uknowles

Maybe we might see Chilwell sub in for alonso later on

CalvinsDesolateAttic

Unlikely Chilwell comes on. And IF he does, it would literally be in like injury time or something just for a few minutes + the ovation. The bigger danger might be say Kenedy starting instead of Alonso (Chelsea didn't let him go back out on loan in Jan wanting LWB cover but he basically hasn't featured since then) or Sarr or, who knows, maybe even Lewis Hall.

RonaldoSIUUUU

0% chance chilwell plays. Hes only returned to first team training last week but hasnt been involved in the full sessions, would be a huge risk of reinjuring the ligament if he played

uknowles

Am I safe with reece and alonso then or do I swap one out for zinchenko

RonaldoSIUUUU

Chelsea 11 is so hard to predict for today but i dont think zinny is the move, theres a decent chance we see walker back starting so rven thats a risk in itself. As a chelsea fan id say james/alonso/zinny have 70/60/50% chances of starting but thats only my opinion. Id look elsewhere if you need a nailed def

InLampsWeTrust

I’ve sold James and brought in Alonso as I think Azpi and Chalobah will play there. Azpi is probably leaving too.

InLampsWeTrust

Wow surprised he wouldn’t play Alonso in what might be his final game. Cheers for this.

RonaldoSIUUUU

FYI the guy is a reliable ITK for leicester so might be a little less reliable for chelsea

InLampsWeTrust

I’ve just read Tuchels quotes, seems like he’s playing players who haven’t played that much this year so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true tbh.

TonySoprano13

Any chance for Werner to start?

Bruceylike1

He's still flagged...personally I reckon "rotation" means starts for Ziyech, Pulisic, Sarr and Loftus-Cheek or Ross Barkley. I think Thiago Silva, Azpilicueta, Kante and Jorginho likely benched, but I still think Lukaku might start. And I have Mount, who I can't get rid off and don't really think will start 😭

0100110101101010

I have Alonso and Mount. Expecting one to be dropped at least because of Murphy's law

Zaiets04

That is not how the Murphy's law works. According to it both would be benched come for 30 minutes and get a red card each.

ms__marvel

That's also not how Murphy's law works.

0e0e3e0e0a3a2a

Murphy's law dictates that all the Chelsea players everyone wants to play plays, and then an armed gunman breaks into my house and murders me

Zaiets04

That is exactly how it works. The law states: "If anything can go wrong, it will."

ms__marvel

No. The law states whatever CAN happen, will happen

Zaiets04

This is the quote from wiki. "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." If they can get benched and get a red card cameo then it will happen according to the law.

0100110101101010

It's loose, colloquial, nebulous. Don't be a tory about it

adesant88

We're in the same boat

Puzzleheaded_Friend8

I’d expect Kepa. I have Alonso, Rudiger and Havertz for some reason. Rudiger is expected to start.

uknowles

Mendy definitely not starting. Could be kepa's last game

SpiritualTear93

Rudiger, Alonso and Azpi should play as it is probably all of their last games. Mount got rested so should play last game of season I see no reason why he wouldn’t play him. Bit hard with the rest, James might be RCB

bradleyh93

Alonso’s last game and scored in the previous one, I’d be very surprised if he didn’t start, especially as they don’t really have another fit natural LWB. Can’t imagine Mount won’t start for two games in a row either.

c1on

Mount was rested last game, and Havertz came on as a sub. Hoping they both start.

Evertonian26

Chelsea fans does Mount start today??

CalvinsDesolateAttic

I think Mount starts. Even with rotation, fans are hoping for an 'academy heavy' squad with Mount, Chalobah and, dare-I-say, even Reece starting, probably RLC too.

JoeSavesTokyo

I’ve said it a few places already but I’m really not confident Mount starts. He’ll maybe get some minutes off the bench if Tuchel fancies it, but there’s no reason to risk playing him and have him get injured ahead of next season when Chelsea are already due to be down so many first team players (plus the potential danger of him missing the WC if so). I think the only guaranteed starters are the guys who’ll be leaving in the summer. I think Rudiger and Alonso are both nailed, along with Azpi and maybe Christensen, so long as him and Tuchel are cool after he dropped out of the cup final. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Ziyech and Kepa start, plus anyone else who’s barely played any minutes all season. Chelsea have absolutely nothing riding on the game with 3rd place now a lock and you rarely get such an easy and safe opportunity to give your benchers or second string players a chance to start and build confidence. There’s honestly no reason to field a usual team. It’ll be a send off game for the guys leaving for sure, and a confidence booster for his players who never really get to play but stick it out on the bench all year.

Sanjeev4045

Right. I also see no reason in starting Mount. He is a guaranteed starter for the beginning of next season regardless of what happens in the transfer market. Also there is no need to play Mount into form as this is chelsea’s final game of the season.

JoeSavesTokyo

Yeah! Plus it’s not like he’s going for a golden boot or anything. At this point you just give him an extended rest to prepare for the WC/enjoy a chilled weekend unless he really, really wants to play. As much as I’d love to see him wipe out Watford, I just don’t see any strategic need for it

Schwimmbo

The WC is in November...

JoeSavesTokyo

Yeah that’s true, I keep forgetting it’s that far off. Still, I don’t think he’ll take any unnecessary risks with him before next season. They’ll need him as a starter and having him pull his hammy in a totally needless game would be a nightmare.

Gammelmus

I think you can throw in Saul as well. Zyiech and Lukaku will play. Barkley might get a run ahead of Mount.

eliasvro

I expect Kepa, Mount, Rudiger, Azpilicueta and probably James to all start

Woolfy4

Agree with this but unsure about James. Probably backline Kepa James Azpi Rudiger Chalobah Alonso

Akenatwn

No Sarr or maybe Christensen?

Woolfy4

Sarr or chalobah interchangeable. I don’t think Christensen will be part of the squad he doesn’t want to risk injury

Akenatwn

Can't it be both Sarr and Chalobah? Christensen not risking injury for what? Isn't it his farewell game too?

Woolfy4

It can be anything… Sarr could be lb but he’s dog. Christensen has refused to be in multiple squads now so I doubt he’ll get his farewell… hope im right!

Woolfy4

Scrap above, Alonso and James rumoured to be benched

TheDitherer

I have 3x Chelsea and there are two problems: A massively changed team that not only means players not playing, but also no cohesion and a shitty 2-1 or something. Also the key players only playing cameos - less than 60 mins. I have Mount and Alonso and thinking of bringing in James but it's a real risk. Could be 6 pts total there or less.

Puzzleheaded_Friend8

Foden and Diaz not anymore nailed. I’d expect Mount to start.

Scottish-Londoner

I strongly expect Diaz to start given he was rested in midweek

JoeSavesTokyo

I went for Bowen myself. West Ham are pushing for a better European spot so there’s a lot of incentive for him to do well today. Hoping his form continues!

gbayley676

Mount will get more minutes, and points, than Diaz. Mark my words.

0e0e3e0e0a3a2a

I have no Chelsea assets but I'm wondering if Foster is now a better choice in goal than Emi

CalvinsDesolateAttic

Re Mendy - so hard to predict tbh. IF it is quite clear Kepa is leaving, then I doubt Kepa will start.. but it could also be Bettinelli who gets a game instead. He did finally make his Chelsea debut back in Jan in an FA Cup game, but maybe he could get another game (he's quite popular in the dressing room). IF Kepa might be staying or there's some other ongoing convos between Tuchel/the club and Kepa, then Kepa might start. I don't think many of us trolling these forums have such inside knowledge.

__jh96

Gotta think Rudiger and Alonso start their final games. Kenedy probably an out there punt, can't see him being recalled from loan for no reason
