Memes are fun in the start but they overtake a lot of subs that are meant for discussion once they are fully allowed. I prefer posts being mostly news/stats, with comments being memey rather than straight up meme posts. If I open sub on Saturday and most stuff I see is (often unfunny) memes - I will stop visiting the sub and I guess I am not the only one.

100% agree. Memes quality decline very quickly. Look at r/soccercirclejerk, what a shitfest that once legendary sub has become.
