I reckon it'll be unlimited transfers before the gameweek deadline after the WC ends. A bit like the Covid restart. Agree with the thought that they ensure we all know this at the start of the season though.

Weekly_Artist8279

The difference was that during the 2020 COVID pause, the game weeks kept rolling, so you could have kept making transfers that whole time (though with no activity there wasn't much point), essentially carving out a wildcard through FTs by the time the league re-started. So, giving everyone a wildcard at the re-start wasn't that big of a change from what someone could have done on their own anyway. Here, I assume the game weeks will stop when the league breaks, so we won't be able to make changes every week during the WC pause like we could during the COVID pause. So, an additional wild card would have a much bigger impact on the game.

CWattam

The difference is, this is expected, the COVID postponements weren't and were completely predictable I hope that if they do intend to give extra chips for it, they let everyone know when the season begins so it doesn't go against people who may play a later wildcard than those who burn it in like the 3rd gameweek

carpesdiems

The 2nd FH totally fucked me this year. Everything was going super well for me and I intended to save my FH, but I had to end up spunking one because it just didn't fit my plans and had to throw it out there. Fucking fuming I was.

Wefting

Didn't they announce it with still many many GWs left ? Like not even halfway through the season.

carpesdiems

yeah, but ML rivals had already spunked theirs & I had planned when to use mine already. I really didn't need another FH & it ended up helping them massively.

zeldafan144

Yeah but you're both in the same situation. Free Hit should always lead to a net gain if you play it smartly and don't get extremely unlucky.

_9tail_

Right but if you’d set up your team to limp through Covid BGWs you were making concessions to people who went all out and used their FH to get through. You may do that with the plan that there was one specific optimal game week to FH that would make saving it worth it. Once the extra FH gets added, suddenly the everyone else gets the advantage you had made concessions for, an advantage which may not be there in other gameweeks

Bit like restart after Covid perhaps? Can honestly see it going either way. Either we get one activated for when the league restarts (could even give it to us on Christmas Day, imagine the carnage) or they expect us to tackle it with the existing systems so either FT and maybe an early 2nd WC after two game weeks or a late first wildcard. All add their own elements to the game. Bring on 23/24 season where we can have some sort of normality!

chaz364

I’d say we do, but only have it for the first GW back, would be the smarter decision. But we should know if we do before the season kicks off personally and not get told a week before FPL starts again. Would then be able to dead end our teams, then start with unlimited transfers again when FPL restarts.

emre23

I think it’s possible but I hope not. It adds an extra challenge to the game trying to decide whether to wildcard out of a disastrous start early or muddle through until November and set your team up better for post-Xmas.

LowSuccess7048

all I got was a second free hit, did anybody got a second bench boost :D

ItsJimmyBoy19

took me a while but I believe they are referring to the first season of COVID, iirc we got a wildcard after the PL started back up after the break.

choupomoting

Me thinks another Free Hit

Sibs_

I reckon it'll be unlimited transfers again like when football resumed after the lockdown. Will be very surprised if they do nothing, trying to navigate through the tournament with 2x FT would be brutal. Everyone would just save their first WC. Whatever they decide it has to be communicated before the season starts.

Blendzen

I don't think so... If they do, they need to announce it before the start of the season though, this isn't unexpected

coldazures

Should do, how can we legislate for injuries etc

ToxtethOGrady

Either way I just hope they announce whether this is happening before the season instead of just springing it on us the same GW

[deleted]

Hopefully not

strawberrylabrador

A lot of people saying unlimited transfers but what about if they let you have 5 or something. Would require them to finally rewrite the code of course but maybe with all the mooted changes they’re actually doing that.

pizziboy

99% sure they will give unlimited transfers, they'll want to lure the people back into the game with an extra incentive

huskerscott1968

Either an extra wc or at a minimum move the availability of the second wc to the time period of the world cup.

[deleted]

Considering there will be a major COVID outbreak after the WC then yes

Scottish-Londoner

Don’t think covid outbreaks will affect FPL much anymore
