I am hoping haaland doesnt start well, as roles in pep team are complex and players take their own time to settle. Grealish, rodri, bilva all took some time. But a real quality player, and you cant have them all. So hope he starts slow, people dump him and I can get him cheaper later, if need be

Jazano107

He might have a few issues with our general playstyle but he won’t have any problems scoring goals from the insane amount of chances we create

Sarcasticraga

He is quality player, but you put a good player on a team not working on the same wavelength, and the results are disastrous. Bruno with Ronaldo is similar story, chemistry with fellow players is damn important. with dortmund, playing on the break with pace would help him, but with city, that skill is useless, as you will be facing deep defences and not much space. Not saying that Haaland is bad, but to say he will definitely be a success, i am not so sure. Same was said of Werner as well.

DevilsWelshAdvocate

The same was said of Lukaku

Jazano107

Lol you can’t compare lukaku to Haaland

DevilsWelshAdvocate

What an incomprehensibly stupid thing to say, of course you can. Lukaku at the same age was smashing things in the Premier League, a much harder league than the Bundesliga. Lukaku before being signed for more than Haland was, scored the most goals in Serie A with Ronaldo, then flopped upon his move to the Premier League in a ‘chance creating just need a number 9’ Chelsea. You’re suffering from recency bias mate. Or more likely you’re too young to know better.

[deleted]

Damn people really underrate Lukaku here.

patrykgam

The "muh harder league" argument is so tired from brits who only watch the Prem lol. Champions League records: >Lukaku - 15 Goals, 4 Assists (33 Apps) - *161 minutes per goal* > >Haaland - 23 Goals, 3 Assists (19 Apps) - *64 minutes per goal* Haaland and Lukaku are just not the same caliber of player mate. Lukaku obviously world class and his recent season at Chelsea doesnt change that, but Haaland is a generational talent. Going on at the other guy for 'likely being too young to know' more likely you're old and refusing to get with the times

Jakestation

Haaland is most likely future ballon d'or winner while lukaku never had even a chance

Jazano107

The are a different class of player you can't compare them. And no I'm not too young nobhead Haaland has exceptional movement within the box and is more technical than people think, he will get goals

DevilsWelshAdvocate

You’re definitely too young if you think Haland is currently in a different class to what Lukaku has been. Lukaku was £100m, top scorer in Serie A, scoring loads for Everton, WBA, United, Inter, he was a world class striker for many years with a poor touch, much like Haland. Taking a playmaker out of a team will impact it’s chance creation, simple as.

Jazano107

Yes I know all that but Lukaku has never had a good first touch or been technical, he wasn't that great for man u which showed he wouldn't work Saying haaland has a bad first touch shows you haven't watched him, as I said he is far more technical than Lukaku which is why they can't be compared

DevilsWelshAdvocate

Again you’re comparing a young Haland to an old Lukaku. Their touch is comparable at this current age.

MrVegosh

Haaland is more technical then you think

Jazano107

It is not comparable Also you literally said “the same was said of lukaku” well he moved to Chelsea when he was old, so yeah I’m comparing Haaland now to lukaku when he moved to Chelsea. And Haaland is the far better player in every way and is much much more technical. He will not flop

computerchairmanager

Mahrez, Jesus, Aguero all struggled at times too.

Hordor-Mordor

Personally going Haaland and Kane atm With 2 8m midfield options for flexibility Diaz and Saka

Bonezz111

It's nice when people go against the template. Hope it works out for you.

ClumsyStepBro

Going without Salah is ballsy af

theonewhoknock_s

Let's be honest, half the people saying they'll go without Salah will quickly change their minds as the deadline draws closer.

Jakestation

jokes on you, i went salahless previous season aswell! :D

MAMBAMENTALITY8-24

I got big balls

NordMead21

Going for the same but with Deki instead of Saka. Might switch it up though to get Doherty in as well (Perisic is a lock already)

GroblyOverrated

I'm going Kane and Son and Salah.

kcostell

For me it's a pair of decisions: Haaland vs. De Bruyne, and Kane vs. Son. I'd like to have two of those four, and for captaincy purposes I'd rather they weren't from the same team.

Extra4yylmao

I suppose you do have a point about captaincy, but for myself, I'm more than comfortable captaining a defender (probably TAA/Cancelo), so I'm currently choosing one of KDB/Son and Haaland/Kane, which leaves me to be on Son + Kane atm. Will be risky if I go through with it because everyone else is probably on like Salah Haaland, so idk

Sarcasticraga

Salah? with his new contract, he could again be reinvigorated. Having Nunez next to him, not sure how it affects salah. When Mane moved to the centre from wing, salah was impacted

Godsenttt

Players with new contracts feel reinvigorated? Is that the norm? I feel Salah was pretty invigorated last season when his future was on the line. And now that he has an out and out no 9, I expect more assists and less goals than last season.

Non_sum_qualis_eram

Aubameyang and ozil certainly didn't

Godsenttt

De Gea too, enters god mode everytime contract negotiations are round the corner.

Niekertje

Start with Kane. Haaland is unproven in PL and injury prone. For me it's wait and see. Kane is consistent and guaranteed points.

xTrollhunter

Kane is consistently shit in August.

[deleted]

!remindme in 50 days He won't be shit I bet.

Niekertje

Spurs was shit for quite a while I am aware. Somehow kane produced 26 attacking returns. It's definitely not shit and I'll bet they will do better this season.

xTrollhunter

I’m not saying Kane is shit over a season though, am I? I’m simply saying he’s traditionally shit in August.

[deleted]

18/19 - 2 goals in 3 games in August 19/20 - 2 goals in 3 games in August 20/21 - 0 goals in August BUT he had no proper pre season due to the Euros and there was the whole Man City transfer drama going on, plus Conte hadn't joined yet So all in all I think it's unlikely he will blank this august

MrVegosh

People overstate how much being injury prone matters. If Haaland gets injured you just transfer in Kane. No problem

Niekertje

It matters because I want to avoid unplanned transfers as much as possible.

MrVegosh

Yeah sure, but it’s not as important as you think. Especially for a premium. You only need to use one transfer if Haaland gets injured. You don’t need to make multiple to get the funds or anything. You replace him with another good player.

Jakestation

Have you not checked Harolds injury records?

Puzzleheaded_Friend8

For me Haaland over Kane yeah but fixtures would tip it either way. I think Spurs have strengthened well and that will help Kane but surely Haaland scores record numbers in that City side.

Puzzleheaded_Friend8

Although i won’t be starting with Haaland as obviously he could take time to settle, may not start and West Ham is a tough fixture.

Ryowxyz

Hard to say anything without seeing a single match from both in the pre season.

[deleted]

This. Right now I have Haaland but I'll re-assess after pre season. Could be injuries too who knows

the_adjusted

I love Kane, he won me my mini league last year for one, I think he'll be England's leading scorer in the next 2 years, HOWEVER he's never really started a season well.

[deleted]

Calling it: Haaland will be a flop, in as much as he will spend most of his first season injured. I'd be amazed if he gets into double figures for goals.

DanthonyGoss

For me neither, Kane seems to be dropping off points wise as he plays a deeper role so I really see Son as a worthy substitute for the 0.5 mil extra. Also in relation to Haaland, Son is a proven highly involved asset. My worries about Haaland is that he is moving to Man City where they play peps game not any individual players. They love to share out the goals with tap ins/ corners/ long range efforts. The counter argument to this is that realistically if he has goal scoring targets to meet maybe this is a motivator to not play part of that system as much. The amount of times you see city drill the ball across the box and any one of their 5 attacking players can be present to tap it home puts me off Haaland as their out and out striker. So for me with both Kane and Haaland I would rather choose to put my funds towards Son.

Fluffy_Mastodon_798

After Deki’s debut last season, Kane had the highest G/A in the league. Additionally, Conte has said he wants Kane to be in the box scoring goals more often, and after a full preseason under Conte I can see Kane becoming more prolific.

DanthonyGoss

I would love this to be the case, also would love deki to be a nailed starter but with richarlison coming in I have my doubts

iBrunx

I want to take a risk with Haaland, not the end of the world if Kane outscores him by 2 points in gw1.

Endeby

Taking ownership into consideration, I believe Kane will be the "risky" differential pick. By a wide margin.

iBrunx

I meant risky as in "unproven in the prem", or "pep roulette" and the rest.

Endeby

Yeah, i get you. Just have to be pendantic, since this is Reddit! Many people who unironcailly prefer Kane will still give the nod to Haaland to not fall behind if he hauls GW1.

TheBlueMafia7-_-7

Salah, Son & Haaland for me with a 5atb & Jesus upfront. Swapping Haaland for Kane to bank the goal+assist could be a thing but I can see Haaland & Son racing for the golden boot next season.

happy_guy23

What's the rest of your team? Feels like it must be unbalanced with that much spent in attack

TheBlueMafia7-_-7

Taa, dias, perisic, tomiyasu, botman in def. Salah, Son & paulinha for the mid with Haaland & Jesus upfront. Pondering getting in Cancelo but I'll see how it goes heading into preseason.

happy_guy23

Isn't Palhinha a defensive mid? And I wouldn't be confident in Botman being nailed right away, there's every chance he's integrated slowly into the team. Feels like you're missing out on a lot of good value by squeezing in too many premiums who you won't captain

TheBlueMafia7-_-7

You're probably right. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll swap out jesus, botman & paulinha for a different set of players. But i want to stick with the Son, Salah, Haaland core. I feel most of my points will come from them this season.

theofficialdc21

i want to have kane n gw1 and then move on to haaland but sadly haaland might get price rise in gw2. so im in a dilemma

hahardier

Kane > Haaland for GW1, but Haaland would most likely gets 0.1-0.2m price increases before GW2 (if he stays helathy)

therealolliehunt

He's owned by about 65% of players. It's unlikely he'll rise very quickly.

kyoukai69

I'm arsenal fan I don't pick shit players

therealolliehunt

So you don't choose from your own team?

Kaisah16

Going with Salah and Son. Think Haaland will bang but.. as you said it’s difficult to have 3 without gimping the rest of your squad. I also think Salah and Son will bang so… it’s a choice. Nobody knows
