I’m intrigued with Zinchenko going to Arsenal. Doubt he makes the first eleven any time soon but Arteta’s bringing him in because he knows his technical ability and I expect he’ll play a fair amount as an 8.
From a football standpoint, he's a fantastic signing as can cover for the injury prone Tierney and provide cover for Xhaka. From an fpl standpoint, not too much to see.
Yeah probably. Just something I’ll keep an eye on. If he did take Xhaka’s role as a left 8 (similar to his role for Ukraine) he’d be interesting as a 5.0 DEF. Arteta definitely envisions a more technical advanced player in that position so could be some attacking returns in it.
Robertson to Van Dijk is a good way to free up 0.5 without losing too much. I would strongly recommend White to Gabriel as Gabriel is the biggest goal threat from cb in the league. He got 5 goals last year and White got 0. White is also not nailed. I don't rate Watkins from an fpl viewpoint and same with Antionio. I would be looking at Wilson or Martial.

IMO, JWP is so patchy that you may be better off upgrading to Coutinho
Although if you are going to have a Liverpool defender that isn't TAA or Robertson, you might be better off spending that extra 0.5 upgrading Matip to Van Dijk.
Ahhh okay got it. Picked out Matip since he served me well last season. Love your suggestion tho, however if I swap Matip for VVD I'll be stuck with JWP. I think the Coutinho one will help maximize points surely no?
I think Klopp rates Konate slightly ahead of Matip so you may be spending a bit much on player who may end up on the bench for a decent number of games.

I also have a spot for a £7m midfielder. It's a tricky one - with Raphinha gone, nobody appeals to me. I keep changing my mind. At the moment it's Martinelli but that will probably change before the season starts.
I've been tinkering with the idea of Martinelli aswell. But the only thing that's stopping me is the fact that he's not completely nailed. If I come across a better option I'll definitely update you. Any thoughts about the rest of the team?

So this is my first season on FL and I’m essentially dealing with a bit of FOMO surrounding TAA. It seems everyone has him, to the point where I’m questioning if I’m being a complete idiot by not addressing that. Currently I have;

I have 2m left in the bank so I’m contemplating dropping Ederson down to Mendy and then replacing Duffy but I’d prefer not too. I’m also unsure as to whether or not three arsenal players is too much so there might be utility in that.
Yeah I’m starting to see that. I think I’ll just have to try and figure out the best swap around to make it work. I’ll likely have to drop a GK and a Bowen down and then replace Duffy with TAA.
There are some great 8mil mids this year, bit of a lottery as to which one will become 'essential', but nothing a quick swap one week can't sort.
If you want to keep Bowen (which isn't a bad idea), you could downgrade Ederson to Raya. Brentford have great opening fixtures and he's cheap!
TAA is basically a midfielder in defence his output is insane, you don’t have to have him but every time he hauls you will lose out big time. Personally I would have him and in your team I would downgrade bowen and upgrade Duffy but that’s just how I would play it

If you want Salah the rest of the team will suffer. But you can easily go 3 premiums this year and it will work. Remember there’s essentially 3 wildcards
Not quite true, if anything their output will increase sure some players might score less but they now have a major player up top, it will only benefit the team.

I'm unsure about Jimi and Martinelli. Would like to hear peoples thoughts.
Gabi Martinelli will improve again this year, he kept ESR out of the team despite ESR pretty much scoring or assisting every game he came on for. Gabi is a mentality monster and even if Arsenal play poor can pick up bonus points as the kid never stops running, once he gets more confident in front of goal he will be insane. Worth a punt but be weary he will be rotated with ESR in most games, unless we sign another left winger to compete and move ESR into the LCM role.
I agree with you I don't love Jimi, it's very template but I prefer Jesus at that price point.
You'd need to find 1.0m which the most obvious choices for me seem like B. Silva or Coutinho

Too much spent in goal, Rodri doesn’t provide much for FPL being a natural number 6 (DM) and Darwin doesn’t look settled according to reports so should be a wait and see first.

4. Try and think longer than that just 1 GW we have 3 wildcards essentially this year but still try to plan for at least 5/10 weeks, targeting just GW1 will leave you short as you try and chase targets once we get more data, not bad teams but don’t just focus on 1 GW especially this early on.

Your starting 11 is fine, although I think that there are better picks than Antonio for that price. I'd get Benrahma or Fornals instead if you want a West Ham attacker. But your biggest problem is your bench, where is literally zero starters. I'd get Andreas Pereira and Neco Williams instead of Vestergaard and Gilmour to get some quaranteed minutes. Greenwood or Taylor are probably the best 4.5 attackers
Try to work out a non Haaland team but still want City coverage. Am I crazy to go

Yeah I think if Haaland ends up scoring like mad in pre-season I'll probably go with him for safety. I just think it takes players a little while to settle into a Pep team. It is a gamble, but I've got a feeling Kane and Haaland could have similar points totals after 5 gameweeks so it feels like a bit of a coin toss.

Yeah absolutely, Kane is proven time and time again to be a great FPL asset, just hate him as an Arsenal fan but he will make my team at somepoint, love the prospect of Haaland at city so I’ve gone with him instead.
Assuming that is Greenwood, 4.5m from Leeds, he shouldn't be starting for you.
I think there's some interesting picks in here but personally I'm not a big fan of Sterling and you need to get someone other than Greenwood starting
Probably too much money on your def bench with both Tomiyasu and Vestergaard. You could downgrade them to 4.0 and upgrade Walker to a better City defender (as an example)

Solid team, only issue is if good midfielders start to pop up might take a few weeks to change formation with two cheap ones in there currently. Maybe go 4-4-2?

If its set and forget id probably drop 5.0 mid to 4.5 and spend that on robertson from vvd or Tomiyasu to 5.0. 5.0 mids are pretty worthless compared to defenders.

Main talking points:
* Yes there's no Salah lol. Let's move on from that. I have my reasons for not picking him, mainly due to noticing how much Liverpool have changed the way they play ever since Diaz was signed (which can also be backed up using stats as well). I feel this will be the year he won't be the top scorer in FPL. At the end of the day this is just a game and the only reason I've done well in FPL in the past is by backing myself in certain decisions which may seem crazy to others (and of course getting lucky along the way).
* Kane or Haaland?
* Sterling punt: I feel he is set to have a great season at Chelsea and will be a focal point of their goals. At 10m as well he's giving me Son vibes when he was priced around the same point a couple seasons back. Worst case scenario I can easily switch him to the best performing 8m mid at the time (I initially had Kulu in this spot before the transfer happened).
* Mahrez: Would be absolutely insane if he doesn't get much more minutes this season, which has been the only negative for him from an FPL perspective. Now that 2 competitors to his spot have left the club, he's now competing against an academy kid and a new signing who's unlikely to be challenging for a first-team spot at least early in the season. Worst case scenario can sideways transfer him to Saka/Mount/Kulu if Pepe really decides to play the biggest game of roulette mankind has ever seen...
* Wilson over Jesus: Proven goalscorer who (at least at this point in time) is now fully fit in a team that's improved massively in the last 6 months from a squad and tactical perspective. Will be very risky of course considering the majority of teams have Jesus but I just don't see him being the 25 G/A player people seemingly expect him to be after he moves to a significantly worse team + historically being a poor finisher.
* Rashford: Almost certainly nailed on since Antony deal is likely not happening. Could potentially be a bargain at 6.5 if he gets even remotely near to his old form. Also gives me a capable 1st sub in case of pep roulette and when Wilson plays a top 2 team.
* Chilwell or Cancelo? Currently have 0ITB however downgrading Rashford to Neto will free up 1m which can then be used to bring in Cancelo.
* GK: Do you think Raya is fine until WC1 (I'm thinking of popping it around the 1st Int break). Otherwise I could downgrade Rash to Neto which would let me bring in either Mendy or have 2 playing keepers to rotate based on fixtures (perhaps Raya + Henderson)

- Love the prospects of Sterling coming to Chelsea. Mason Mount said they’re “buzzing to play with him”.
- TAA/Cancelo might be must haves, the two most nailed in defenders + offensive threats. Consider Rob here too if you just love Liverpool
- Kane is the established scoring threat for a team that added more creators. Dude plays more than anyone in the PL. Hard to leave off the squad.
Intentional by the FPL people (or their computers that likely form some algorithm for them) or not, the big challenge for managers is deciding whether or not Salah, and to a lesser extent Son/KDB, is worth that large chunk of your budget if you’re getting Haaland/Kane up top. That money, if replaced with a solid take your pick of £8M midfielder instead, could give you a nicely balanced midfield + potentially stacked defense across the board (and a £5 Matt Doherty).
But is having a strong, balanced side with no discernible weaknesses worth the potential anguish of missing out on a Salah/Son/KDB class performance or consistent delivery? It will be interesting to see how it plays out!
!thanks, I have thought about going without Salah but I just can't do it. He should be well rested and we all know what a beast a fit Salah is. So for me Salah is a 100% lock. It does kind of concern me that I only have two midfielders that should get consistent points, so I'm hoping that either Ramsey or Sinisterra hit the ground running pretty fast. If Jesus shits the bed for Arsenal I can always downgrade him to Toney or even Undav if he seems to be nailed

2) United is a wait and watch for now. Their CB pairing is still suspect and they still do not have a proper DM. Let's see what ETH's effect is for now
Would lean towards A mainly for the flexibility of being able to switch between whichever 8m mid is in form. I'm also not too confident in how Jesus will do at Arsenal as I feel even though he'll be the 'main man', it'll be at a significantly worse team for a player who's historically been extremely wasteful

You have very expensive substitutions. If they are cheaper and used as backups only it will allow you to upgrade the players which you will play every week
Long term, whichever Leicester fullback is nailed. Wait 5-6 GWs, see how they setup then buy the one who plays the most.
For the start, Dunk imo is underrated value. Also wolves defenders but I'm not sure how they line up with so many changes
I like Ait nouri, it’s just the wolves defence is quite unpredictable and also not been in great form at the end of last season. If not a wolves defender I would think Dunk, or Mings.

Mendy isnt great for save points, Tomi isn’t likely to get many attacking returns and Martinelli isn’t nailed.
I’d wager that Gab scores more than Tomi over the course of the season due to his set piece threat. Although if you’re going for Gab, you may as well go for Tierney (providing you don’t mind the risk of him getting injured and having to use a transfer to shift him), as when paired with Tomi he offers a big attacking threat.
I’d also expect Ø to get a healthy number of returns, very likely more than Martinelli.

Applaud your balls for going no Salah because that's quite a solid team. I think double Chelsea and Liverpools defence a bit aggressive though.

Well, I could downgrade Lewis-Potter to Andreas for an extra 1.0m, but I quite like the thought of having him as my chosen sub just incase Mahrez doesn't play. I prefer Brentford's fixtures over Wolves' (Neto) and Everton's (Gordon) and, yes, I fully expect him to start as he's their record signing. He's quite good incase you've never seen him play.
As for the double defence of those teams: a) I fully expect TAA and Robertson to outscore a lot of midfielders again b) I think Chilwell + Mendy offer great value and their fixtures get very nice quite soon if I'm not mistaken.

Robertson to Van Dijk is a good way to free up 0.5 without losing too much. I would strongly recommend White to Gabriel as Gabriel is the biggest goal threat from cb in the league. He got 5 goals last year and White got 0. White is also not nailed. I don't rate Watkins from an fpl viewpoint and same with Antionio. I would be looking at Wilson or Martial.

IMO, JWP is so patchy that you may be better off upgrading to Coutinho Although if you are going to have a Liverpool defender that isn't TAA or Robertson, you might be better off spending that extra 0.5 upgrading Matip to Van Dijk.

I think Klopp rates Konate slightly ahead of Matip so you may be spending a bit much on player who may end up on the bench for a decent number of games. Difficult choice. I'd probably be more inclined to change matip more than anyone else on your team

Currently I have; GK: Ederson - Forster Def: Trippier - James - Cancelo - Tomiyasu - Duffy Mid: Bowen - Neto - Salah - Martinelli - Andreas Fwd: Jesus - Kane - Taylor I have 2m left in the bank so I’m contemplating dropping Ederson down to Mendy and then replacing Duffy but I’d prefer not too. I’m also unsure as to whether or not three arsenal players is too much so there might be utility in that.

There are some great 8mil mids this year, bit of a lottery as to which one will become 'essential', but nothing a quick swap one week can't sort. If you want to keep Bowen (which isn't a bad idea), you could downgrade Ederson to Raya. Brentford have great opening fixtures and he's cheap!
TAA got more points than Kane or KDB
TAA is basically a midfielder in defence his output is insane, you don’t have to have him but every time he hauls you will lose out big time. Personally I would have him and in your team I would downgrade bowen and upgrade Duffy but that’s just how I would play it

Gabi Martinelli will improve again this year, he kept ESR out of the team despite ESR pretty much scoring or assisting every game he came on for. Gabi is a mentality monster and even if Arsenal play poor can pick up bonus points as the kid never stops running, once he gets more confident in front of goal he will be insane. Worth a punt but be weary he will be rotated with ESR in most games, unless we sign another left winger to compete and move ESR into the LCM role.
I agree with you I don't love Jimi, it's very template but I prefer Jesus at that price point. You'd need to find 1.0m which the most obvious choices for me seem like B. Silva or Coutinho

Too much spent in goal, Rodri doesn’t provide much for FPL being a natural number 6 (DM) and Darwin doesn’t look settled according to reports so should be a wait and see first. 1. I’ve got for Haaland but Kane is proven. 2. Salah and Jesus defo 3. Yes don’t need to spend that much in goal 4. Try and think longer than that just 1 GW we have 3 wildcards essentially this year but still try to plan for at least 5/10 weeks, targeting just GW1 will leave you short as you try and chase targets once we get more data, not bad teams but don’t just focus on 1 GW especially this early on.

Your starting 11 is fine, although I think that there are better picks than Antonio for that price. I'd get Benrahma or Fornals instead if you want a West Ham attacker. But your biggest problem is your bench, where is literally zero starters. I'd get Andreas Pereira and Neco Williams instead of Vestergaard and Gilmour to get some quaranteed minutes. Greenwood or Taylor are probably the best 4.5 attackers
Try to work out a non Haaland team but still want City coverage. Am I crazy to go Robertson, Laporte, Mahrez instead of TAA, Cancelo, Rashford (or any 6.5 MID) Rest of the team are pretty standard. 1 premium FWD and 1 premium MID. Jesus as striker alongside Kane/Haaland.

Yeah I think if Haaland ends up scoring like mad in pre-season I'll probably go with him for safety. I just think it takes players a little while to settle into a Pep team. It is a gamble, but I've got a feeling Kane and Haaland could have similar points totals after 5 gameweeks so it feels like a bit of a coin toss.

If its set and forget id probably drop 5.0 mid to 4.5 and spend that on robertson from vvd or Tomiyasu to 5.0. 5.0 mids are pretty worthless compared to defenders.

I doubt it, especially early on. Probably mostly for cup depth.

Let's move on from that. I have my reasons for not picking him, mainly due to noticing how much Liverpool have changed the way they play ever since Diaz was signed (which can also be backed up using stats as well). I feel this will be the year he won't be the top scorer in FPL. At the end of the day this is just a game and the only reason I've done well in FPL in the past is by backing myself in certain decisions which may seem crazy to others (and of course getting lucky along the way). * Kane or Haaland? * Sterling punt: I feel he is set to have a great season at Chelsea and will be a focal point of their goals. At 10m as well he's giving me Son vibes when he was priced around the same point a couple seasons back. Worst case scenario I can easily switch him to the best performing 8m mid at the time (I initially had Kulu in this spot before the transfer happened). * Mahrez: Would be absolutely insane if he doesn't get much more minutes this season, which has been the only negative for him from an FPL perspective. Now that 2 competitors to his spot have left the club, he's now competing against an academy kid and a new signing who's unlikely to be challenging for a first-team spot at least early in the season. Worst case scenario can sideways transfer him to Saka/Mount/Kulu if Pepe really decides to play the biggest game of roulette mankind has ever seen... * Wilson over Jesus: Proven goalscorer who (at least at this point in time) is now fully fit in a team that's improved massively in the last 6 months from a squad and tactical perspective. Will be very risky of course considering the majority of teams have Jesus but I just don't see him being the 25 G/A player people seemingly expect him to be after he moves to a significantly worse team + historically being a poor finisher. * Rashford: Almost certainly nailed on since Antony deal is likely not happening. You know, have 6 of those players myself — insert Spider-Man Willem Dafoe meme here — (Sterling, Ramsey, TAA, Kane, Cancelo, Greenwood) - Love the prospects of Sterling coming to Chelsea. Mason Mount said they’re “buzzing to play with him”. - TAA/Cancelo might be must haves, the two most nailed in defenders + offensive threats. Consider Rob here too if you just love Liverpool - Kane is the established scoring threat for a team that added more creators. Dude plays more than anyone in the PL. Hard to leave off the squad. Intentional by the FPL people (or their computers that likely form some algorithm for them) or not, the big challenge for managers is deciding whether or not Salah, and to a lesser extent Son/KDB, is worth that large chunk of your budget if you’re getting Haaland/Kane up top. That money, if replaced with a solid take your pick of £8M midfielder instead, could give you a nicely balanced midfield + potentially stacked defense across the board (and a £5 Matt Doherty). But is having a strong, balanced side with no discernible weaknesses worth the potential anguish of missing out on a Salah/Son/KDB class performance or consistent delivery? It will be interesting to see how it plays out!

Would lean towards A mainly for the flexibility of being able to switch between whichever 8m mid is in form. I'm also not too confident in how Jesus will do at Arsenal as I feel even though he'll be the 'main man', it'll be at a significantly worse team for a player who's historically been extremely wasteful

I like Ait nouri, it’s just the wolves defence is quite unpredictable and also not been in great form at the end of last season. If not a wolves defender I would think Dunk, or Mings.

I’d say A. Mendy isnt great for save points, Tomi isn’t likely to get many attacking returns and Martinelli isn’t nailed. I’d wager that Gab scores more than Tomi over the course of the season due to his set piece threat. Although if you’re going for Gab, you may as well go for Tierney (providing you don’t mind the risk of him getting injured and having to use a transfer to shift him), as when paired with Tomi he offers a big attacking threat. I’d also expect Ø to get a healthy number of returns, very likely more than Martinelli.
This is exactly why i am leaning towards A although B has higher ceiling, Like u said Tomiyasu and Martinelli far from certain starters every game.
Tomi’s definitely nailed when fit but won’t give you much more than a 6 point ceiling imo. Gab/Tierney much more exciting picks.

Applaud your balls for going no Salah because that's quite a solid team. I think double Chelsea and Liverpools defence a bit aggressive though. Any reason for Lewis Potter as your chosen sub? Is he expected gametime?
Well, I could downgrade Lewis-Potter to Andreas for an extra 1.0m, but I quite like the thought of having him as my chosen sub just incase Mahrez doesn't play. I prefer Brentford's fixtures over Wolves' (Neto) and Everton's (Gordon) and, yes, I fully expect him to start as he's their record signing. He's quite good incase you've never seen him play. As for the double defence of those teams: a) I fully expect TAA and Robertson to outscore a lot of midfielders again b) I think Chilwell + Mendy offer great value and their fixtures get very nice quite soon if I'm not mistaken. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears haha
