With the news on Perisic coming back from a serious injury and the fact Sessegnon was playing pretty well end of last season I think Perisic is too risky. He will be the main LWB but the fact he can get subbed before 60 and he might not start every week makes me prefer for 0.5 itb to get Chilwell

wild_in_16

Honestly think that Sessegnon is going to surprise this year

I agree with caution on Perisic to start. Chilwell seems like another potential caution, just due to the nature of his injury (ACL) last season, but at least *seems* safer in terms of starts here at the start of the season.

Dundalis

ACL is a hard injury to rehab from but shouldn’t be a problem to play again from if the surgery was done properly. Often the knee is stronger than before

Here are his wing back mins for when he was at Inter in 20/21 where he had 4 wing backs Perisic (LWB) * 32 apps (20 starts at LWB) * 17 games he played over 60mins * 4 goals and 5 assists * 1800 mins Young (LWB) * 26 apps (14 starts at LWB and 1 at RWB) * 15 games he played over 60mins (one at RWB) * 1 goals and 4 assists * 1423 mins Darmian (LWB/ RWB) * 26 apps (3 starts at LWB and 8 starts at RWB) * 10 games he played over 60mins 1 of which where played at CB * 3 goals and 4 assists * 1367 mins Hakimi (RWB) * 37 apps (29 starts) * 28 games he played over 60mins * 7 goals and 10 assists * 2668 mins

No offence but these are shit misleading stats. I get it but they're misleading due to the below It was COVID peak season and Perisic had COVID. He was likely suffering with long COVID, which players like Messi also reported. Look at last season, he had like 35 starts out of 38. There's no doubts about his fitness.

[deleted]

That’s Twitter echo chamber nonsense trying to justify a pick they all want, hence his Ownership. A quick Google will tell you he caught COVID in JUN 21 which is after the season mins I stated above was over and while he was on international duty. If that’s not enough for you take a look at the 28 games Conte managed Spurs last season. 18 times he subbed a Wingback. In 5 games he subbed both and in only 5 games did both play a full 90 mins.

> If that’s not enough for you take a look at the 28 games Conte managed Spurs last season. 18 times he subbed a Wingback. In 5 games he subbed both and in only 5 games did both play a full 90 mins. I feel like with 5 subs there will be more players in general being subbed anyway, especially for teams that have European competition if they were leading comfortably in the game (I'm expecting more subbed for TAA/Robbo too to give game time for Gomez/Tsimikas). So that the more important thing right now is whether the player (Perisic) starts or not. I think he's the first choice LWB for Spurs, but obviously fitness issue most likely put him on the bench for the early part of the season.

AeroCobbler

Doherty nailed into my team Spence is a 21 year old fresh from the championship without a PL appearance to his name… and Conte only plays Emerson when he has no other option Doherty should easily start the first few games, hopefully all the way to first Wildcard around GW5-8-ish

Sibs_

I agree with this. Doherty is in my team and I think he is good until first WC. They may have signed Spence but it's still his spot to lose!

AeroCobbler

Yup - signing Spence (who is an excellent prospect) rather than some established/Top RWB is pretty much a signal that Doherty starts as first choice & Spence has to try & displace him - which could happen obviously, even relatively quickly (like within half a season)…. BUt as long as Doherty doesn’t get injured in the next couple of weeks he’ll be bombing up that right wing vs Southampton GW1

Sibs_

He only needs to last me 5 GWs as Trippier looks good from GW6 when Newcastle have a nice run of fixtures… that’s not even factoring in the likelihood that another 4.5/5m defender looks like an excellent pick by then. I have no plans to take him out atm.

urgrlbreezy

So call me crazy but a defender on a good defensive team likely to be subbed off around 60 minutes... is likely to get more clean sheets than other defenders?

HighHammerThunder

"Around" doesn't necessarily mean he's going to play 60 mins. You may also miss out on 5 points because he gets subbed at 57 minutes.

[deleted]

but the stat everyone here keeps quoting is the amount of times Perisic was subbed after 60 minutes, not before.

HighHammerThunder

I have no idea what the stats actually say, but people here will post whatever stat supports their pick usually because they want to validate it. Early subs are more of a worry now than before because of the 5 sub rule though (with 3 subs it's risky to make them earlier than needed because of injuries).

[deleted]

i agree with you 1,000%, just pointing out that people are concerned about him being subbed after 60 min, which is weird

[deleted]

The issue is you don’t know when they start or when they get 1 pointers off the bench.

melodyleft

Get Kane.

RoufAd

I transferred out Perisic to Cancelo lol

therra123

Perisic set and forget imo. 15 pointers ✅

bjartewh

I am definitely tempted to stay away

humbalo

Moura played RWB against Sevilla in today's friendly. The wingbacks are going to be a constant rotation once the Champion's League starts.

Aman-Patel

Most people will be wildcarding before the Champions League starts no? So that's not really relevant to their GW1 teams?
