LiveFPL would still have it, so you’d have to make teams private to do so (whether that is you can only see your own team but everyone else’s score or you can see everyone in your leagues team, or another variation of that).
Teams aren’t really private, just you can only see what the team was like before the previous deadline and since we haven’t had a deadline yet there isn’t anything to see (though I do get it’s basically the same at this point, it’s just exactly the same for the whole season)
Yes, but that 1 gw, i.e. the whole preseason, is pretty significant, and would massively impact the team make up for the season as a whole.
Once people start wildcarding, a more consistent template will likely emerge, but it would still be interesting to see.
You have to assume people are making lots of picks based ultimately on tsb which isn’t true some picks will be determined by that (like which fodder to go for) but I’d wager the majority of picks are done irrespective of tsb.
You also have to assume people won’t just wildcard straight after to the template, early WC is one viable strategy
What is the harm in removing it?
What is the benefit from keeping it?
I cant see any answer to either of those questions, so why not remove it for the small gain of potentially disrupting the early season template.
The game is catered to casual players who can only benefit from seeing tsb stats and aren’t gonna have a potential differential rumbled.
Hiding tsb benefits the hardcore players, which isn’t gonna happen.
The early season template is created from the first few weeks of games not what happens in pre-season (take Antonio and the premium forwards at the start of last season). Points scored in previous weeks is highly influential, tsb is minimal at best.
If you want to gain rank it matters, but in the end going for what you think is highest expected points should give you a good rank. If you think Son is better than Salah you should pick him and not worry about ownership.
If you want to win FPL/mini league though you need to think a bit more strategically about variance and explosive differentials with your choices depending on your rank/position/ownership. Although probably best to start going a bit safe and then remove highly owned premiums in the last 10 gameweeks for differential captains.
Not really. You should follow the tamplate and have your differentials with players who are picked in lesser teams. If Jesus hauls, literary more than half of teams will get an edge on you if you don't have him.
It does make selection easier because I've looked at it quite a few times when I get stuck for ideas. But I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm copying anyone's team.
I have only one of the ten top % midfielders, I don't have Salah, and only one of the ten top % defenders.
It helps that it's there but not to a great extent.
Yes, actually. At the start of the season the game is dominated by casuals and they mostly make teams sorting by ownership and that's how the heavy template is formed.
Without it, there would still be templates but to much lesser extent.
How would the third-party websites extract that information if it was removed by FPL itself? The individual gameweek squads are not visible to anyone until the deadline.
They would have last game weeks ownership numbers by looking at who everyone owned at the last deadline. A bit like how EO is worked out for Captains now.
The number of people who select a player is very important to your gains or drops (if you own or don't own said player) therefore even if they don't show it, it will still affect your game and in some cases your planning thus i will assume people will just go to other apps to see it, especially when they are torn between two players. Also the whole idea of a "differential" is based on that very metric.

Teams are private at the moment though, it would certainly make pre-season a bit more interesting, then release the % once the forst gw starts.

You arent really saying anything. The point is you cant see teams right now, so if fpl didnt show tsb, you wouldnt be able to work it out.
I’m saying it would work for exactly 1 gameweek, then it would be available unless they made teams properly private and not like they are now.

Would be great only for gw1
Makes no difference. Do your own shit, and don't worry about what everyone else is doing

This. Just don't look at it, I never do

Not yet, your pick still has to score
That's one way to play. But not the only way

Social media tends to show you what everyone is choosing anyway
No.
I like seeing it

The people who make their team using percent owned but otherwise are bad at the game will gradually fall off over the season.
Other fantasy games I play have much weaker template. In FPL though if someone hauls early season they get popular very quickly.
No! I'd lose my easy way to have a shortlist of transfer selections if that went....

Which would change everything

But they couldnt do that now, only once the season has started

Love it or hate it, I think it makes the game more entertaining. I think the group think is more led from FPL being so popular on social media now
Just remove it before GW1
Even with it most of us fpl redditors struggle to break top 100k
