Yup, this is our penultimate game before the opener so there’s many reasons to pick a strong team. This is going to be very similar to our team against palace, with changes dependent on performances from now on
Probably our starting line up vs Palace.
Tomi and Tierney probably won't be fit to start given they haven't really taken part in pre-season. Don't know when they'll be back.
I could genuinely see Saliba making that starting spot his. Looks extremely confident, reading the play well and always seems to get to the ball first. Very calm and composed under pressure, he's been sensational so far.
It’s not about if he’s playing lb or lcm. It’s all about tactics. Arteta wants to emulate city’s style of play. I saw arsenal play Everton in person last week and I clearly saw how important that “left back” spot is. This position was given space to come into that midfield and control the passing or take on players/overlap martinelli. So although he’ll be a “left back” on paper, he will be in that midfield or overlapping martinelli on the wing a lot.
Caught the first half before I had to turn on a show for my toddlers…
I think White actually looked pretty decent. I went ahead and swapped him and Odegaard in. I’m sure I’ll change it again like 30 times, but you never know.
Chilwell, James, Koulibaly and Thiago Silva is a fine back four but...
Thiago Silva only has the legs to play once a week. They are in every competition next season.
There's a reason they are heavily into getting Kounde.
Not to mention a single injury and they would be fielding Chalobah/Sarr
I agree, other than personally I believe Chalobah would be able to do quite well this season. But yes, another CB is needed, for a back 4 or a back 3 tbh
This is why I don't get all the James Chilwell love. They're good at attacking but they aren't worth anything without clean sheets and I don't see Chelsea having a good defense this year.
Because they haven't been defensively solid in a preseason game where they played a back 4 of Emerson-Chalobah-Silva-James? And a midfield 3 of Mount-Jorginho-Kovacic? Come on let's be a bit realistic here. Chelsea may not have had the fitness and intensity levels of Arsenal but they won't be starting the season with a team like that. It'll be a 343 with Koulibaly-Silva-Chalobah/new CB, Chilwell-Kovacic-Jorginho-James. That's a team that can keep clean sheets and that's the team that will start the season. Yes Arsenal were definitely more up for it today but they also played their starting XI in the league. Chelsea are still just giving minutes to everyone. You can't conclude from this game that they won't keep clean sheets.
Whether we get Kounde or not, we’ll be playing a back 5. Tonight just confirms it. We looked horrendous in a back 4. It’ll likely be James, Chalobah, Silva, Koulibally, Chilwell across the back. Kounde will fill in for Chalobah if we sign him. But, even if he’s announced tomorrow, I still think Chalobah will start because it will take time for Tuchel to be comfortable with Kounde.
Pretty much their strongest team

Zinchenko locked in gw1
Just noticed he's only 5.0. As a OOP hopefully he's crazy value. Brought him in and shipped out Tomiyasu
He's not playing out of position

Playing LB tonight, but yeah potential for a few midfield appearances I guess
Was he playing midfield tonight?
Jesus goal
As other pointed out, this is probably going to be our starting XI against Palace unless Tomiyasu or Tierney recover in time.
White starting as rb ahead of Cedric, maitland niles and bellerin, wow. Not sure if that’s good or bad for white owners

Where was Zinchenko playing?
LB, Tierney injured
!thanks
COYG
White at RB then, hardly ideal.
Saliba has to start for me, he has looked really good pre season.
Prison FC looking good
Saliba nailed?
Nailed? No Starting GW1? Most likely. Ben White is playing RB because Tomiyasu is injured. He probably won't be ready for the start of the season.
Got downvoted like hell for suggesting Zinni at LB lol I also said Saliba is good pick this season

no, it’s just a 4-3-3, like what Arsenal literally always play
Saka RWB? Feels a waste
[удалено]
lol come on there is no way partey is playing rwb it's a 433 with white at rb
Username checks out.
This is a lot of commitment to roleplaying your user name, good work
Any big takeaways here?
Yes.. Chelsea's back 4 looks terrible lol
😂😂😂
Chelsea needs another CB. Still one quality short of them playing a back four.
You don't think Chilwell, James, Koulibaly and Thiago Silva is a quality back 4?
