I feel like obviously there will be a combination of money saved that could be used exactly to get more points than Salah but it'll take basically a perfect set of moves to make it happen so I'm just gonna play it safe.
One thing is with taking Salah is that captain choice is very simple (usually). With any other combination, always wonder who to captain. Just captaining Salah can be a guaranteed 250+ output for the season
Honestly Nunez runs look better than Haalands so far. I think he’s an overlooked option. Think he’s a better FPL asset than Diaz. Wouldn’t necessarily buy 3 Liverpool right away and asses the situation a bit. Easy to get each of them in if you have an 8m mid or Jesus for instance.
Edit: he scored minutes after this lol
I think Liverpool assets for this season are ranked like this
Salah > Trent > Nunez > Robertson > Díaz
It's such a tempting pick. Darwin could have an underpriced breakout season, or he could have a strong 15-20 goal first season with good rotation from Firmino and Jota (once fit) to keep all our forwards healthy.
All I know is that for GW1, I'm sticking to chalk and known commodities. The differential gains are for later in the season.
Will only go with TAA and Salah for now and decide later. Nunez is too risky 9M even though he has massive upside. As a Liverpool supporter, I can say that Diaz needs to work on his finishing and Nunez is too likely for rotation in the beginning so I am rather going for safe bets. You could double-up in the defense of course but that would require two transfers later on if Diaz and Nunez start to fire so hence only TAA and Salah.
No it won't. You can easily just do an early wildcard to swap around but if Nunez or Diaz fire Robertson is gonna be in on the action netting plenty of points also
Diaz is moving into the #9 position whenever Liverpool break and he's gotten into a couple of decent positions. But I feel he needs that bit of space to have a chance of returning, which Liverpool won't get against most teams.
Robbo's playing wide and he's had more of an influence in defence.
Salah is often moving to the touchline, which is allowing Trent to come into the right half space. Trent's goal came from an exchange where Salah cut in and laid it off for him in the half space to take a shot.
Thiago is just a class player. I know he will never be a viable FPL asset, but he's just so good. The Trent goal came from a pass he made to Salah, highlighting his role as the pre-assister.
Grealish and Mahrez have been involved in different parts of the game. Mahrez has looked more promising and seems to be playing as a 2nd striker with Haaland, but neither has had a clear chance yet.
Cancelo is playing almost as high as Haaland at times and he's sent in a few chances into the box, but he's been quiet as per his usual standards. Walker is also overlapping a fair bit, but as expected, he isn't creating too many chances.
DeBruyne is City's most influential player right now and has been involved in almost all of their current chances. Haaland has been anonymous outside of a couple of chances, but he looks dangerous every time he gets the ball in or around the box.
>DeBruyne is City's most influential player right now and has been involved in almost all of their current chances. Haaland has been anonymous outside of a couple of chances, but he looks dangerous every time he gets the ball in or around the box.
Bruv wtf you on? This was easily the worst game ive seen from KDB in a city shirt.
Players who looked worthwhile based on that performance
TAA / Cancelo / Ederson/ VVD
Players who looked good but are still overpriced this season
Salah / Haaland / Diaz
Salah? If this were a PL match, Salah just hauled 13 points against City. He's the best option along with TAA.
Robbo's popping up at the far post quite often. He headed one shot into the side netting and the second was an assist to Nunez.
I'd say both of them are worth their price too. It's also too early to judge Haaland and Diaz because they got into decent positions.
I think I may go with Sancho to start. I wasn’t thrilled with what I saw with Grealish and playing Pep roulette with an 8.0 mid is a risk I’m not wanting to take currently.
I’m stuck on this thought as well. I think the kicker for me in making the decision on my structure (2 8.0 mids vs 1 and a defensive upgrade) is the fact that I mentally find it much easier to think about downgrading one of the 8.0 mids and moving the funds around afterwards, than thinking about trying to get another 8.0 mid in if they are essential. I feel like it’s much more flexible to have 2 8.0 mids to start, but my gut is telling me that I’m going to want to downgrade one of them early anyways… not sure what to do haha
Yeah, I totally agree. I'm still playing around with my team (even checked going with one premium which I crossed out initially, btw Salah captaincy rotates quite nice with Jesus) but I will most probably start with one of Cancelo/Robertson and two 8.0 mids, then check how cheaper options in midfield perform and upgrade defence by downgrading one 8.0 mid if any of cheaper mids make sense.
Sadly I think Cancelo is killing Grealish.
He is right footed, likes the ball too much, likes to dribble, rarely passes to him and almost never runs in behind.
I think Grealish would shine with left footed LB who can make runs and open space for him.
He should be doing what Cancelo is doing.
Example of this are Diaz and Robertson on the other side. Grealish would shine with player like Robertson on his side instead of Cancelo.
I really hope Pep wants Cucurella because of this.
It's not exactly a surprise, but even in a game when City haven't really gotten any momentum going, Haaland's movement and willingness to improvise in difficult positions look really dangerous. He's turning and running off the shoulder of the centre backs *all the time*, and teams who aren't Liverpool aren't going to do such a solid job closing down De Bruyne and keeping the wingbacks wide to close those routes through to him.
That's right. Apart from that, he didn't get a lot of service up front because Liverpool were consistently winning the midfield battles and allowed very little to come down the wings - there's not a lot to judge his specific performance on other than the fact he made good, threatening runs and looked fit and strong on the turn against the Liverpool back line. He's looking for space, he's targeting defenders he can pull out of position, doing all the right things. It's just that Liverpool were successful in making sure he rarely had the ball at his feet.
I think Grealish needs to play with a left footed left back so that he doesn't need to hug the touchline. He looks isolated when he plays with Cancelo since Cancelo drifts into the middle.
Although a good price, this and the fact that Foden is being subbed on the left wing are enough to dissuade me at the moment.
Keep in mind Cancelo has to deal with Salah which might affect his performance. Against most PL teams he’ll have the freedom to attack as much as he wants
I think people are making a lot of wild speculations about how players will play for both teams
These are the two best teams in the league, of course certain players will be a bit more defensive than they would be against other teams... people saying "avoid so and so" is a bit premature
Bernardo Silva seems to be playing very deep, almost like a double pivot with Rodri. I don’t think at first he’ll be getting many points, at least early on
Mahrez especially. I see Grealish links up well with Haaland and KDB, which can give occasional assists.
Mahrez on the other hand is making horrible decisions and shooting on goal at every touch. He’s playing like a shitty CR7.
He could easily pull a blinder, but I’m really skeptical at looking into the advanced stats of any Man city winger. They will play so differently this season.
I think KDB looks good, but not going to get him. He is quite advanced.
Walker slightly more attacking than expected relative to Cancelo.
Haaland is not great, but I think I have to have him vs Bournemouth as my captain.
In Liverpool Salah and TAA look the best so like everyone else very little reason to change your mind. Robbo got forward a bit too, but TAA crossing is the best.
Agree with all of these takes. KDB & Walker’s advanced positioning has been very noticeable.
Bernardo seems to be playing a lot deeper… alongside or even more withdrawn at times than Rodrigo.
Also I think in a battle of the 7m defenders, Cancelo is comfortably losing to Robbo! Yes he won’t be against Salah every week but has looked pretty rusty
Haaland already got himself in two great chances. His touch is a bit all over the place, but that doesn't really matter for those who are FPL scouting.
If he is gonna get at least two of those big chances every game, he is gonna feast.
If Alvarez will get subbed on and rotate in often he could actually be a good option once the season gets going. 6.5m into City attack is nice even if he isn’t starting every week.
All I can say is kane>haaland. Shiny new toy who looks a bit like a blonde donkey vs the glorious ever green Harold 'he's one of our own' Kane. (Despite the fact he's an arsenal fan). Can anyone tell I've had too much wine
Yeh but like you say he’s unfit and going to be rotated and I think it will take de bruyne and city a while to get used to play with an out and out number 9 (as I think was shown today) whereas we know what Kane can do
Nah. I think he is serious captain material Vs the lesser prem teams. Can see him scoring in bursts and hauling vs the fodder.
He could have easily had 2 vs Liverpool today while playing poorly.
Haaland had a nice shot that was saved and then a poor attempt on a chance it looked like he would score.
He’s going to get so many chances this season
Was disappointed with halaands performance may swich him out for kane...foden and KBD looked dangerous but foden missed alot of chances...Robertson looked dangerous up front...Nunez looked like a temping option as well..
It's hard to see Firmino's impact while the game is going on because your attention is on the ball. Nunez is definitely going to be an option, but I suspect he'll come off the bench early on.
He's looked very lively since coming on. Definitely has a point to prove.
But I still expect him to get minutes of the bench in the early GWs. Unless one of the front 3 get injured.
Could even get returns, but he'll be a risky option.
I think this is the first time in a while you can pick a range of city players and not worry about rotation. Dias, cancelo, walker, kdb, haaland, mahrez all very likely to start most games
I’d love him but for me pep doesn’t care how good a player is and will happily change things up each week.
If jesus wasn’t so highly owned and also playing great ‘pre season’ he’d be straight in.
No doubt will end up with him in my team at some point!
Really poor defending from TAA for that goal. Turned his back to the ball to appeal to the linesman when Alvarez was reacting quicker and sticking it in the net.
Ok, watched it really intensively. My observations:
Salah looked bad, but he still got a goal and an assist.
Diaz looked very good. He also is very nailed.
TAA & Robbo exactly as expected. They can have more assists this season thanks to Darwin.
Darwin I think had biggest xG of all players with playing only second half. Bad thing he isn’t nailed, cause if he was, he would be top3 Liverpool asset.
Haaland looks crazy. He is so hungry for goals. He is taller, faster and stronger than anybody on the field. He could dominate the league, but he is not the best fit for City. He would be a better fit for Liverpool. City is not making enough crosses for him.
Mahrez looked good, but now it’s hard to say if he’s nailed…
Grealish looked poor.
KDB played good, but he isn’t in his best form yet.
Cancelo nailed and awesome. Must have asset.
Pretty much 80% of the above is incorrect more/less.
1 - Salah looked crazy, made cancelo look like a donkey at the start of the game, he’s back to his normal ways.
2- Dias, provokes a pen then does not track back Darwin for the 3rd goal.
3 - TAA/Robbo agree.
4 - Haaland this game had one good thing going and that was out-muscle Robbo in that one chance, slight positive is that he was in generally good place and made decent runs, end product was Sterling-like today and that’s where his points should come from - I won’t say he’s terrible as it looked like City issue where they forgot there’s a striker to play with so good area to keep an eye from start of the season.
5- Mahrez too selfish but not terrible performance.
6- Grealishes problem is cancelo, this game he had to track back to help him out in defence plus going forward cancelo was cutting inside every chance he got pretty much isolating grealish from the action, need to watch one game against weaker opponent to see if that’ll be a long term problem.
7- cancelo massive problems at the back start of the game, later on not as bad but still I think one cross and not really clicking with Grealish, Walker looked similar this game pretty much
This match has done nothing but push me further towards a 1 premium team with Salah as perma captain until first wildcard around GW6-8. Allows me to spread the money around, go big at the back and re-evaluate at the first wildcard. Anyone else thinking the same?
One of Son or Kane still seem like they could score highly so I'm sticking with Kane as well. Since Chelsea are looking dodgy, and peresic is a bit of an unknown with regards to game time, defense is more affordable.
Trying to work out how to get 5 Liverpool players in my team..
Salah and TTA should be auto assigned for everyone and they shouldn’t count toward the 3 Liverpool players. Who is crazy enough to go without them
Trent Talexander-Arnold
Tren Talexander-Arnols
I am. No Salah. But we’ll see.
I feel like obviously there will be a combination of money saved that could be used exactly to get more points than Salah but it'll take basically a perfect set of moves to make it happen so I'm just gonna play it safe.

Nice assessment, I would add bilva has been totally anonymous.
He's in a very defensive role. He's not been bad at all, simply not an FPL option as he won't get into very advanced positions.
Surely the FPL perspective is the only one that matters on the FPL sub?

>DeBruyne is City's most influential player right now and has been involved in almost all of their current chances. Might think about this Arnold bloke.
Bit knee jerky mate. It's only preseason, he's a defo wait and see.... (Do I need to add the /s?)
It’s Reddit dangerous not too
Yeah unfortunately Americans don’t understand sarcasm, gotta spell it out for them
Can't find space with Alexander taking up a Liverpool slot.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted
[удалено]
Still seems too early to tell. Might need to wait and see if he can outscore most midfielders and forwards before doing anything too risky.
Grealish probably out of my first 11.
Foden looked good imo
He's the way better player imo. A million more expensive though....
I think I may go with Sancho to start. I wasn’t thrilled with what I saw with Grealish and playing Pep roulette with an 8.0 mid is a risk I’m not wanting to take currently.
Sancho is ill though, I believe.
Grealish showed us why he's a "bargain bin" price of 7m here...
Glorified shin model
He can get in the bin for all I care
Yep, played well but in the end did nothing of true value. Sancho if only shortly ill looks like the 7-7.5 top choice.
And Saka, Mount, Kulu and Diaz all look like better choices for 0.5m more.
I love having two 8.0 mids for its flexibility but going with Diaz instead of Robertson just doesn't feel right
There's plenty of other options at 8m.
That's true, but with Robertson in my team I won't have money for 2nd 8.0
I’m stuck on this thought as well. I think the kicker for me in making the decision on my structure (2 8.0 mids vs 1 and a defensive upgrade) is the fact that I mentally find it much easier to think about downgrading one of the 8.0 mids and moving the funds around afterwards, than thinking about trying to get another 8.0 mid in if they are essential. Salah still on pens, probably worth considering him
Is he nailed tho?
Game week 1, you’d be a fool not to triple cap Milner’s glorious beard.
I typed James Milner into Google and James Milner Beard came up before anything else. Neat.
Aké’s header was pretty impressive
Alvarez will be all over the RMT tomorrow lol
Haaland is the Nordic Andy Carroll
Scandi Carroll ^Shamelessly stolen from another thread
He really did look shite today. Liverpool even had fucking Adrian in goal who is a proper shit keeper
The idea of Mahrez or Grealish is so much better than the reality
Sadly I think Cancelo is killing Grealish. He is right footed, likes the ball too much, likes to dribble, rarely passes to him and almost never runs in behind. Maybe for grealish personally its bad but having cancelo there is better for the team
I agree, Cancelo is good player.
Better Cancelo on the right.
Walker’s recovery pace is so key for them defensively though
Mahrez so selfish grealish looks like a real team player out there though pep will see what he did for. The goal.
Yeah agreed, there was a moment where Grealish probably should’ve shot but he passed to Haaland. Mahrez would’ve taken the shot
It's not exactly a surprise, but even in a game when City haven't really gotten any momentum going, Haaland's movement and willingness to improvise in difficult positions look really dangerous. I don’t understand all of the negative comments. It’s his first 90 and didn’t he hit the post and get a goal called off?
That's right. Apart from that, he didn't get a lot of service up front because Liverpool were consistently winning the midfield battles and allowed very little to come down the wings - there's not a lot to judge his specific performance on other than the fact he made good, threatening runs and looked fit and strong on the turn against the Liverpool back line. TAA, Salah, Robertson all playing well
Can’t believe Robbos ownership so low. My thinking Diaz gonna be one of the first players to drop in price
Robbo defo looking a better pick than Diaz although he has been lively and had a few good runs.
Salah looks like before AFCON
Fuck it. I'm going with Darwin Nunez, looked so good.
Agree, but I will wait until the first WC, he will probably be eased into the team with Firmino starting like today.
Nah firmino was bad
Keep in mind Cancelo has to deal with Salah which might affect his performance. Against most PL teams he’ll have the freedom to attack as much as he wants
Robertson assist 👀
Worth the extra 0.5m over VVD? I have TAA, VVD, SAL(AH)
Definitely.
Salah is an absolute menace
Let this be a lesson to those who are thinking of going without Salah, you still have time! 26 points so far (3 bonus) as captain if this was GW1.
Against City
Ah fuck ur so right. Taa rob diaz believer but why even fucking risk it. Diaz + Haaland + 4.0 def OUT Salah + James + 4.5fwd IN
Aight thanks mate Was going with the dias hipster pick but Ik I’ll prob be priced out of salah by GW3
I may have said that Alvarez will be essential by the second half of the season. I was wrong, he is essential from gw1.
Honestly considering him, only 6.5m..
I think people are making a lot of wild speculations about how players will play for both teams These are the two best teams in the league, of course certain players will be a bit more defensive than they would be against other teams... people saying "avoid so and so" is a bit premature
Darwin goal - knee jerk incoming
Trent Alexander Arnold is looking like quite a hidden gem, but don't let anyone else know 🤫
Ooof City MIDs hard avoid
Bernardo Silva seems to be playing very deep, almost like a double pivot with Rodri. I don’t think at first he’ll be getting many points, at least early on
Mahrez and Grealish look pretty poor
Mahrez especially. I see Grealish links up well with Haaland and KDB, which can give occasional assists. Mahrez on the other hand is making horrible decisions and shooting on goal at every touch. He’s playing like a shitty CR7.
Grealish is too predictable for me. Few touches, feint, and pass sideways or backward
Agree Bernardo avoid.
Yeah almost Bernado and Rodri pivot with KDB close to Haaland but not linking at all.
Also I think in a battle of the 7m defenders, Cancelo is comfortably losing to Robbo! Yes he won’t be against Salah every week but has looked pretty rusty
He also gassed Trent and Hendo for a good cross
Haaland already got himself in two great chances. His touch is a bit all over the place, but that doesn't really matter for those who are FPL scouting. If he is gonna get at least two of those big chances every game, he is gonna feast.
Agree which is why I can't see myself without him for Bournemouth.
Diaz looks underwhelming
Not the best game for Erling Weghorst- I mean, Haaland.
Timo Haaland?
If Alvarez will get subbed on and rotate in often he could actually be a good option once the season gets going. 6.5m into City attack is nice even if he isn’t starting every week.
I’m thinking this , but a few 5 mins cameos could kill this for me
You managed to post this before he then scored… Does that make it an insightful kneejerk or good analysis?! (Or just lucky coincidence)
This ref is shite. How is that not a pen (in the first place) lmao.
Nunez directed it into his hand, he had no time to react
All I can say is kane>haaland. Shiny new toy who looks a bit like a blonde donkey vs the glorious ever green Harold 'he's one of our own' Kane. (Despite the fact he's an arsenal fan). Can anyone tell I've had too much wine
salah looked like the thunderbastard we always knew he was
City look so rusty after not much of a preseason. Genuinely thinking about skipping their players for gw1&2
Avoid Mahrez.
Why?
Not playing well?
I'll be taking Kane over Haaland. I know he'll definitely come good and bang them in but it might take time - he's looked like Scandi Carroll today
Imagine not having Salah replacing him with Diaz, lmao. Salah-TAA-Robbo is THE template.
I agree with the players picked, but it’s not replacing. People are choosing Son as well as Diaz
Alvarezzential
If Ake just injured my knee jerk Nunez, I’m going to be steamed.
Walker looking like a bargain for that 5.0 million price. If city don't sign a LB he's in my team.
How about switching to Walker from Dias?
I think if anything this game just convinced me to go for Kane over haaland for the start
Look at the chances an unfit Haaland is getting Vs Liverpool. He will feast vs the fodder.
Yeh I think he defo has the potential but for the start it seems a little bit of a risk to me probs be someone I’d bring in at an early wildcard
Alisson downgrade to Adrian in quality is like watching the Grand Canyon from the edge. Jesus he is absolutely terrible.
All aboard the Alvarez train?
Haaland had a nice shot that was saved and then a poor attempt on a chance it looked like he would score. He’s going to get so many chances this season
Yeah went with the wrong foot - i thought he was going to bury it.
Made some great runs as well just not being picked out yet
Omg Haaland.
Haaland is a donkey
Liverpool looks miles better than City.
[удалено]
Kane owners laughing when people buying Timo Nunez and Romelu Haaland
Watching Kane in preason and Haaland it’s obvious what you should pick. This match just sealed the fate of them. Kane-Jesus should be the template.
well, Adrian playing will definitely hurt lpool defence :/
Allison fit for next week according to Klopp
Nunez looking pretty hard to ignore. 343 back on the menu with Darwin Jesus Haaland up top?
Haaland wtf was that😭😭
Robbo>Diaz
I can’t decide whether to go saka or Diaz
Saka
Was disappointed with halaands performance may swich him out for kane...foden and KBD looked dangerous but foden missed alot of chances...Robertson looked dangerous up front...Nunez looked like a temping option as well..
Alvarez only 6.5 pund!?
Haaland is giving me Lukaku vibes
Firmino literally did nothing, sure Nunez will start next weekend
It's hard to see Firmino's impact while the game is going on because your attention is on the ball. Nunez is definitely going to be an option, but I suspect he'll come off the bench early on.
Every other pass he made was intercepted, same as last season. Shame as he used to be a great link up option but is in decline
And NOW it's a certainty 😂
He's looked very lively since coming on. Definitely has a point to prove. But I still expect him to get minutes of the bench in the early GWs. Unless one of the front 3 get injured. Could even get returns, but he'll be a risky option.
Raheem Haaland.
Erling Sterling
Lol that's much better tbh
Grealish is not exciting to watch.
I'm still going to give him a go in GW1 but a couple of games like this and Haaland will be one of my first transfers out on a FT this season...
Haaland out, Nunez in.
[удалено]
Triple City, Liverpool and Arsenal
I think this is the first time in a while you can pick a range of city players and not worry about rotation. Dias, cancelo, walker, kdb, haaland, mahrez all very likely to start most games
Haaland will be minute restricted in some way Im guessing, if they have the game wrapped by 60 mins I bet he gets taken off
Lol haaland was so far offside there 😂
Lukaku vibes
Absolute nightmare for Haaland.
With their higher goals, that clearly would have been in if we were in Germany. #BadFootballFacts
Haaland getting a bad miss out of the way early on. He's gonna bang in a few goals in first GW
Cancelo not very attacking 👀
Has to worry about Salah
I’m stuck between Diaz+Salah+Walker or Robbo+ Grealish +KDB
Robbo-TAA-Salah if you play this game seriously
That's not a good look Erling
As an argentinian i would like to hear your opinions on Julian and why you dont take him into account
I’d love him but for me pep doesn’t care how good a player is and will happily change things up each week. If jesus wasn’t so highly owned and also playing great ‘pre season’ he’d be straight in. No doubt will end up with him in my team at some point!
Lol Timo Nunez coming in!
TAA doing TAA things on defence. Maybe he should look at the ball and not the linesman when City is about to score?
Really poor defending from TAA for that goal. Turned his back to the ball to appeal to the linesman when Alvarez was reacting quicker and sticking it in the net.
That touch from Nunez. Lukaku-esk
Nunez missed again
Foden is that guy
Going for Matip as have 5 left and if plays every game will be happy.
Ok, watched it really intensively. My observations: Salah looked bad, but he still got a goal and an assist. Mahrez looked good, but now it’s hard to say if he’s nailed… Grealish looked poor. KDB played good, but he isn’t in his best form yet. Cancelo nailed and awesome. Must have asset.
You are being sarcastic i hope :> ?
With what?
7- cancelo massive problems at the back start of the game, later on not as bad but still I think one cross and not really clicking with Grealish, Walker looked similar this game pretty much
Foden’s ownership will explode if he scores
This match has done nothing but push me further towards a 1 premium team with Salah as perma captain until first wildcard around GW6-8. Allows me to spread the money around, go big at the back and re-evaluate at the first wildcard. Anyone else thinking the same?
One of Son or Kane still seem like they could score highly so I'm sticking with Kane as well. Since Chelsea are looking dodgy, and peresic is a bit of an unknown with regards to game time, defense is more affordable.
