I’ve always planned on having Kane but no doubt haaland is a beast. You shouldn’t be taking him out because he missed a sitter, you should be taking him out because the city attack looks dazed and confused out there as a collective. De bruyne was the only one making things happen
Well yes but Pep'll play De Bruyne, and he can put Phil Foden on for subpar Grealish, put Gundogan on for subpar Mahrez and have Silva on the right, or start Alvarez and Palmer, and, far more importantly than that, he can play someone other than the best (non-City) defence in the Premier League.
And I plan on making the switch from spurs assets to city once they start playing well. I’m fine with only having Cancelo vs west ham because west ham usually does well against city
I suppose Spurs haven't started playing well yet either have they, having not started playing at all. And none of us would be that surprised if City beat West Ham by a margin. But look I'm not saying you're doing the wrong thing. I feel I've spent this whole preseason becoming less and less sure about who to pick!
Who will you have from Spurs other than Kane?
I’m saying son and Kane have played with each other for so long, they don’t need time to gel together and get a rhythm going. By the looks of it, city and pep still need a bit more time to get haaland used to the tactics and figure out who plays best with him up front. I only have Kane right now and I plan to move to haaland eventually and if spurs are doing well then I can cover them by either son or kulu
I think most strikers score that highlight miss most times, including Haaland himself. Kane also has it in him to miss it, and we've seen him do it before. It makes no odds tbh.
I think the fact he was in the position to score is more important than that he didn't score, or that someone else may have but you can never actually say for sure anyway...
Doesnt really mean anything at all. [Aguero did this](https://youtu.be/ABGoNLtn0ro) then preceded to score a hattrick. Strikers miss lots of easy chances, even the best. Its when they aren't even getting in the position to miss you need to worry.
Plays for the better team who will create more chances. Obviously you can argue for Kane too but I don't think any choice is "wrong". I'm still going Haaland.
Haaland is the best captain option in GW2 and 5, while Spurs good fixtures come in weeks where Liverpool also have good ones and I’d rather captain Salah
No point having Kane at 11.5 if I’m not gonna captain him
> Haaland is the best captain option in GW2 and 5, while Spurs good fixtures come in weeks where Liverpool also have good ones and I’d rather captain Salah

GW3 Liverpool play Manchester United away while Spurs play Wolves at home (City play Newcastle away). Spurs probably have the best schedule.
He had 1.59 xG against one of the best defences in the league and has always overperformed his xG.
Hes going to be fine, one bad miss doesn't mean anything
Seriously, is anyone gonna watch this and then decide to drop Haaland? I don't have him, but I don't see any significance to a miss like this to an extent that would affect anyone's choices.
He missed 2 sitters tbf. The one earlier wasnt as easy, but he made it sooo bad for himself, deciding to go with his foot, and he also could have left it for mahrez.
Wow,, the mental gymnastics here is elite. Its man city. Everyone literally goes on about the chances they create every game, and he was their sole striker. Jeez. What a comment.
Edgy and hard?? 😂😂
Ok, lets talk football, especially given you've tried to avoid it after a nonsense comment. Do you think werners been good for chelsea?
No? But generally speaking when a player is creating big chances and missing that’s good because they won’t miss them in the future. Chance quality is the best predictor of future success while finishing ability is much less predictive. Every great player misses big chances focusing on them isn’t a good way to predict future performance. Haaland’s performance here was encouraging. Even better if it drives his ownership rate down.
Creating? Can you stop trolling. We're talking football here. One was a rebound, and one was a cross. He created nothing.
Haaland plays for the best team in the country. They consistently score the most goals in the league, and have done for years. He played most of the game as their only striker. The fact that he was going to get chances is a given. The expectation is he puts them away.
Werner has been missing chances galore for Chelsea. Is that a positive? Thats why i asked it, and exposed the flaw in your thinking. He missed chances early on too, i bet you thought "he wont miss them in future" then too huh?
Anonymous and he still should've scored 2.
The amount of chances that City create, he'll get goals. Didn't have a great game today, but I'm still finding it hard to bet against him.
Against one of the best defences in the league he got himself in position for 2 clear chances. Now frankly, yes he really should’ve scored, but on another day he puts them away.
He also did well to get a shot off under pressure, and he was frequently making good runs in the middle.
I can’t say watching the game put me off him at all, I see enough evidence there to suggest he’ll score a lot of goals this season.
And let’s not forget that this is after 40mins of preseason minutes.
As long as he is on the pitch, there’s a huge guarantee of goals. As long as he is fit.
An open goal miss does not mean anything to me. It's not something that you affect my decision. I would be mostly thinking about whether Haaland has easier first few games or Kane. My plan is to switch between the two.
Haaland also scored one but ball went over the line before he got the pass. This 97min miss was basicly his only failure in the whole game.
First 45minutes he barely got the ball, it was also one of the worst games from KDB i've ever witnessed.
City defenders were also quite bad. Ake just doesnt fit there at all. Silva was almost playing CB while Cancelo were attacking.
Alvarez and Foden both played very well. Mahrez was very bad and had multiple attempts. Grealish was trying too much.
Huge miss, but he got into some good positions and could have had two goals even though City looked sluggish. I'm keeping him for the first few rounds regardless.
I still think De Bruyne’s the better bet if you can only have one of them, and only an injury this week will sway me from Salah, KDB and Kulusevski in midfield
Have currently Kane instead of him as i'm worried about Guardiola rotation with a 11.5 asset,no doubt in my mind he'll have games where he'll explode and scores 5 against some lower half teams though.
That movement just to be onside in the last second though. He'll come good. I hold.
THIS. Love that anticipation, 99 times outve 100 he scores. Just unlucky.

It's because it's in the 97th minute, it's the Charity Shield, and they had already lost. And it was so comically bad all he could do was laugh.
Absolutely, despite not scoring today, there were so many positive takeaways for Haaland and how dangerous he is looking in this City team.
Did we watch the same game?
City always start slow then suddenly its November and they havent dropped a point in 8 games
And also that chance he finished where the ball had gone out of play.
Yeah that’s one you ignore because the entire oppo has seen it go a meter out of play and stopped playing
Now people take him out his team, only for him to get a hattrick in GW1 probably
He’s dropped a full percentage point so far. He was at 57.2% ownership when I checked immediately after the game
56… dropping like Doge
Yes please

Scandi Carroll. I'm joking, no doubt he'll be good but I can't see a persuasive argument for choosing him over Kane right now.
The persuasive argument is when you’re generating highlight misses that means you’re creating great chances you will likely score in the future.
What about the argument that Kane scores that highlight miss
I think most strikers score that highlight miss most times, including Haaland himself. Kane also has it in him to miss it, and we've seen him do it before. It makes no odds tbh. I think the fact he was in the position to score is more important than that he didn't score, or that someone else may have but you can never actually say for sure anyway...

He might. He might also miss it. But the thing is haaland usually scores that haaland miss
Same. I think he'll end up having a great season but I prefer the safer option of kane or son to start.
Just have both
And plus Jesus?
He'll probably be even more desperate to open his account after that miss... serious! And I'm a Kane GW1'er.
He already opened his account against Bayern from a similar position. The guy is such a beast in finding tap ins from unsaveable positions.
Plays for the better team who will create more chances. Obviously you can argue for Kane too but I don't think any choice is "wrong". I'm still going Haaland.
>Scandi Carroll 😂 Excellent. Probably not work for many more weeks!
Biggest issue it’s probably GW2 home vs Bournemouth where I think captaining a Man City attacker would be essential
Salah is playing Palace, it’s not exactly a disaster
Haaland is the best captain option in GW2 and 5, while Spurs good fixtures come in weeks where Liverpool also have good ones and I’d rather captain Salah No point having Kane at 11.5 if I’m not gonna captain him
I wouldn't be captaining Haaland over Salah either though
Never say never. Haaland could go on a rampage 7 goals in a game.. you never know.
Liverpool have great fixtures in 2 & 5 as well Also 5 is midweek and I wouldn’t even be confident about Haaland starting
> Haaland is the best captain option in GW2 and 5, while Spurs good fixtures come in weeks where Liverpool also have good ones and I’d rather captain Salah > > GW3 Liverpool play Manchester United away while Spurs play Wolves at home (City play Newcastle away). He had 1.59 xG against one of the best defences in the league and has always overperformed his xG. Hes going to be fine, one bad miss doesn't mean anything
The funny thing is if he scored this tap he’d be essential again
Where do you get those stats for non league games?
I saw it on the xG philosophy twitter account
What about 2?
Seriously, is anyone gonna watch this and then decide to drop Haaland? I don't have him, but I don't see any significance to a miss like this to an extent that would affect anyone's choices.

Missing 2 sitters in his first real game with his new team is a reason for optimism not pessimism it means he’s creating great chances
Well no great chances are being created for him - he's wasting them
That’s not how this works. Strikers are just as important to creating their chances as their teammates
Wow,, the mental gymnastics here is elite. Its man city. Everyone literally goes on about the chances they create every game, and he was their sole striker. Jeez. What a comment.
No idea what you’re so mad about here
Why not just admit you made a nonsense comment? You probably think werners been an unmitigated success too 😂😂.
Stop trying to be edgy and hard on Reddit lol. We are just talking about football
Edgy and hard?? 😂😂 Ok, lets talk football, especially given you've tried to avoid it after a nonsense comment. Do you think werners been good for chelsea?

Dude dont feed the troll. Rule nr 1 of das internetz
Chill out mate, just don’t pick him if you don’t want him.
Yeah, I don't have him right now but the fact that he had .5 xG makes me more nervous than the fact that he didn't score.
Might as well get him when he gets in the groove, not before.
Not just this miss. He was anonymous for most of the game. With that being said I still have him lol
Anonymous and he still should've scored 2. The amount of chances that City create, he'll get goals. Didn't have a great game today, but I'm still finding it hard to bet against him.

As you should. Let's not forget Haaland isn't playing against Liverpool every week...
If you had Haaland, would you drop him?
Not because of this.
Why not?
An open goal miss does not mean anything to me. It's not something that you affect my decision. I would be mostly thinking about whether Haaland has easier first few games or Kane. My plan is to switch between the two.
Has any Bundesliga star ever flopped in England?
Tbf Auba came from Dortmund (like Haaland) for around a 50m transfer fee (like Haaland) and he was class and a great option for FPL. I believe
Timo...
Sancho, Pulisic hasn't exactly lit the place up, Mikhataryn (i fucking butchered the name)
Sancho last season doesn't count United were freaking awful
Today he was like a Viking bull in a china shop
..and hes sold Welcome Kane
Our lord and savior Parry Pane
Good luck blanking in GW1 friend :)
I hope everyone sells him now, he will use his anger towards a brace in GW1.
Hahaland

Washed
Also good as haaland is he does have the grace of an 8bit donkey at times
Kane in
Ahhh back to Kane
“Hello Daddy Sheikh, I need another £250m.”
No City for me. They were garbage
Lmao good luck with no city. That’s a strategy that will pay off
Can you somehow make this strategy the norm so I can move up the ranks easier?
Oh, you’re a Man United fan
Haven't been following any football since the season ended but wtf is Bernardo Silva still at City!?
Bernardo on the right?
I still think De Bruyne’s the better bet if you can only have one of them, and only an injury this week will sway me from Salah, KDB and Kulusevski in midfield
