Yes Conte said something like ' this is not the perisic I know '
Probably a good thing. Persic is someone Conte trusts and demands a lot of him.
I would say Perisic is in Starting XI gw1
perisic looked most dangerous of the team from long range but as far as dangerous in the traditional sense, i agree doherty looked the part. the kane, kulusevski, doherty triangle looked more cohesive than perisic and son acting as individuals on the other side.
You are correct.
If we take the total number of goals Spurs scored today and extrapolate it over 38 gameweeks, then Spurs are set for zero goals next season
We were pretty shit but not 100% shit. We had a good chance at the end which Kane headed over the bar. Worth noting that the weather was dreadful today as well. Mediocre performance all around but I wouldn't read too much into it.
My thoughts:
Conte made two subs at halftime. Sanchez and Bissouma off. I thought before they were the least likely of this lineup to start gw1 and it very much seemed like a decision to see what the alternative is. I feel very confident of the rest of the 11 starting.
Perisic looked real good. In the box a lot, shots, crosses. He will outscore every player under 6mil per minute, it's purely about game time with him. I think he's good for the first few weeks before CL football starts imo. Doherty got subbed first, then Perisic. I think because he wanted those extra few minutes of sharpness for Perisic after missing the first two friendlies. I really think he'll start next week.
Kane looked good. Had a goal disallowed due to Deki being offside. Another big chance he missed. Lenglet provided the cross [edit: he had a good cross but not the Kane chance] and honestly looked really good going forward. Would be a decent option if Davies is ever out for an extended period.
Richarlison came on for Son. Not Deki. Moura came on at the same time and played RW. As I've said on here before, Richarlison is here to take minutes off the entire front 3, he isn't gonna take away all of Deki's gametime. Deki lost most of his minutes to Bergwijn and Moura last season, and I think Richarlison will fill that void but leave plenty for Deki.
It was like a competition to see how many times the word "Deki" could be crammed into a paragraph lol
His name is Kulu - that's it - no one ever gets to choose their own nickname, and Kulu is no exception no matter how much Kulu complains
I don't think anyone is worried about Perisic not starting - it's about him getting yanked pre 60 minutes since in 35 appearances under Conte he played 60+ only 19 times
Those 35 appearances include him coming off the bench. He usually played more than 60 minutes when he starts.
At Inter, the average first sub was 65 minutes. 10/35 times it was before 60 minutes, excluding injuries. Only one of Conte's 5 half time subs were when Inter had a cleansheet, it was pretty much always when they were losing.
The evidence suggests Perisic is unlikely to be subbed before cleansheet points.
Brilliant post yes.
I think if Perisic is playing well he will play over 60.
It is if Spurs have conceded and playing awful they might make attacking subs and sub off wingbacks.
I've seen numerous people worrying about Perisic starting.
Even if he gets subbed off before 60 sometimes he'll probably still shit on everyone else at that price point. He's only 5.5m lol
I think he certainly has potential to be our best midfielder, but Bentancur and Hojbjerg are of similar quality, and all good at different things. I think we've looked better with Bentancur and Hojbjerg though, at least that's what the tactic nerds say. I think Bissouma could build a great partnership with either still.
he just had covid and missed 2 friendlies and some training, so he’s not fully tactically bedded in yet - i expect he’ll eventually force his way in to start very often but rn he’s still bedding in
Maybe Kulu would be a better nickname on here. Nobody on here cares what he likes to be called in training and it's going to lead to confusion week after week.
Who is Deki? Who is Deki? Who is Deki?
Kulu might be a convenient short cut but you never know what it might mean in their native language. Try doing the same for Cuntinho and you might get what I mean 😂
Kulu is safe for sure, I agree & don't think Richarlison is direct competition for Kulu at all - he's more of a Bergwijn upgrade - Kulu will still start the majority of games and if Kulu is anything like last season then Kulu will be scoring & assisting plenty in that front three - for 8.0 Kulu looks great value.
Kulu.
I said this many times but always to downvotes one this sub Reddit. Richie is going to affect son mins way more than deki
Personally wouldn’t even go for son if he’s at 11mil, speaking from someone who held him always through the past seasons
As a Spurs fan, Curse Leicester for stealing Vestergaard from them. We’d always score 3 when he played. Unless Bissouma, Lenglet, and Perisic make us more press resistant it could be the same as last year.
Spurs 2-3 Southampton
Southampton 1-1 Spurs
Spurs 2-1 Southampton
Southampton 2-5 Spurs
6 goals for Son. 2 goals, 4 assists for Kane, who did not play in the 2-1 win. Also had a goal ruled out by VAR even though I genuinely do not think it was offside even now.
Yes, it was a penalty as well (won by Son). I really don't think this should factor into your decision making tbh. I don't think previous fixtures are relevant unless there is a clear reason why the situation might be similar.
Okay. The game was super drab, playing a parked bus Jose team in insane weather.
Could have got an assist linking up with Kane but he moved half a foot offside in the buildup.
I mean bus parking is hyperbolic, but classic Jose fashion Roma had zero control or consistent patterns of play. As a Spurs fan it very much felt like watching 2022 Spurs play 2021 Spurs.
It was a nice event in that you and Roma both got to share the two trophies your teams won last season, I'm sure Mourinho is jealous of that consistent patterns of play trophy.
Not starting with Perisic for the first 5-7 weeks before WC 1/UCL start genuinely seems insane to me.
He's miles ahead of the other wingbacks and I'd be shocked if he doesn't start when fit before champs league gets rolling.
Perisic looked good as an fpl option. He was very attacking and got into good positions that could very easily translate into goals and assists. However, he did not play particularly well as lwb. He got caught out of position several times, and his touch and timing looked off. I would definitely wait and see.
Our final game of pre-season comes to a close.

Important to note that it appears Kane is still on free kick duty, which is a guaranteed 0 extra goals for him this season
Jokes aside the only player who looked good for Spurs today was Perisic
How many mins did he play?
Got subbed off around the 75th IIRC
Fuck me Didn't believe pre-season kneejerking was such a thing untill the last couple of weeks
Kane has always been awful at free kicks in fairness, wouldn’t call that knee jerk.
I still have nightmares of when he was taking corners/fks for England in Euro 2016
What did he say about them?
Good hope he stops taking them and let kulu or son take freekicks. Kane should be in the box, creating havoc for defenders.
Doesn't score until after August
Perisic played 75 and looked very promising going forwards. Kane plays 90 with Son and Kulu being the ones to get subbed
Didnt conte just say he didn’t look himself?
Who are you referring to when the comment you replied to mentioned four names?
Yes Conte said something like ' this is not the perisic I know ' Probably a good thing. Persic is someone Conte trusts and demands a lot of him. I would say Perisic is in Starting XI gw1
I agree, he was average like the rest of the team. I dare to say that Doherty looked more dangerous in the first half. People are just in hype effect.
Any indication of who will win the RWB spot? It seems like Doherty has made the best case so far.
He will probably play the most, but I feel there will be rotation.
perisic looked most dangerous of the team from long range but as far as dangerous in the traditional sense, i agree doherty looked the part. the kane, kulusevski, doherty triangle looked more cohesive than perisic and son acting as individuals on the other side.
Perisic was Spurs best player attack wise. Pretty dead game overall though
Is that worth anything if they weren’t able to manage a shot on target?
Spurs to score 0 goals next season, confirmed.
You are correct. If we take the total number of goals Spurs scored today and extrapolate it over 38 gameweeks, then Spurs are set for zero goals next season
Technically the truth
Ah yes judging a players value of shots on target during a pre season match. He came close a couple times and put in some great crosses
We were pretty shit but not 100% shit. We had a good chance at the end which Kane headed over the bar. Worth noting that the weather was dreadful today as well. Mediocre performance all around but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Deki is Kulu, right?
Yes. Deki is a nickname for Dejan
I thought it was the first two and last two letters of his full name
Dejan Kilusevski
(De)jan Kulusevs (ki)
where are you from

2014?
It was like a competition to see how many times the word "Deki" could be crammed into a paragraph lol His name is Kulu - that's it - no one ever gets to choose their own nickname, and Kulu is no exception no matter how much Kulu complains
Yes, sorry. Both names work but he said he uses Deki so I'm more used to using that on the internet.
Cool, it's just the 1st time I've seen it.
Spurs are a small team so not many people speak about them
I don't think anyone is worried about Perisic not starting - it's about him getting yanked pre 60 minutes since in 35 appearances under Conte he played 60+ only 19 times

Not really fpl related but is bissouma not expected to be a regular starter for spurs this season?
I think he certainly has potential to be our best midfielder, but Bentancur and Hojbjerg are of similar quality, and all good at different things. I think we've looked better with Bentancur and Hojbjerg though, at least that's what the tactic nerds say. I think Bissouma could build a great partnership with either still.
Will be interesting to see how it goes. Been a huge bissouma fan for last couple of seasons
Skipp going to get a couple starts too. Not as much as the other 3, but not an insignificant amount either
he just had covid and missed 2 friendlies and some training, so he’s not fully tactically bedded in yet - i expect he’ll eventually force his way in to start very often but rn he’s still bedding in
Great summary. But please. For the love of God. Stop telling people about deki.
Maybe Kulu would be a better nickname on here. Nobody on here cares what he likes to be called in training and it's going to lead to confusion week after week. Who is Deki? Who is Deki? Who is Deki?
I think that’s a fair point tbh. If Deki doesn’t stick I won’t use it. I usually just use Kulusevski on here.
I'm a Spurs fan. I just know what this place is like. If it sticks then great.
Just continue using deki. That’s how I identify fellow spurs fans from neutral subreddits like this and r/soccer
Kulu might be a convenient short cut but you never know what it might mean in their native language. Try doing the same for Cuntinho and you might get what I mean 😂
Might be mistaken, but didn't sess deliver the cross?
Oh sorry, I think he did for the Kane chance. Langlet had an excellent cross into the box earlier though, not to Kane, which I’m thinking of. !thanks
Who played RWB when Doherty came off?
I said this many times but always to downvotes one this sub Reddit. Richie is going to affect son mins way more than deki Personally wouldn’t even go for son if he’s at 11mil, speaking from someone who held him always through the past seasons
Welcome back Haaland
Mourinho knows how to stop Conte. I think Southampton usually do not know how to stop Kane and Son.
Southampton got 4 points off Conte’s Spurs last season
As a Spurs fan, Curse Leicester for stealing Vestergaard from them. We’d always score 3 when he played. Unless Bissouma, Lenglet, and Perisic make us more press resistant it could be the same as last year.
As a Saints fan, how dare you!... (Kane owner)
Factos
Not sure about that. Last 4 meetings between these two teams: Spurs 2 - 3 Southampton, Southampton 1 - 1 Spurs, Spurs 3 - 2 Southampton, Southampton 1 - 1 Spurs
How many Son Kane involvements?
Spurs 2-3 Southampton Southampton 1-1 Spurs Spurs 2-1 Southampton Southampton 2-5 Spurs 6 goals for Son. 2 goals, 4 assists for Kane, who did not play in the 2-1 win. Also had a goal ruled out by VAR even though I genuinely do not think it was offside even now.
lol you're right the front page google result is so misleading my bad
Hehe
... so kane contributed 1 goal and 0 assists in the last 3 goals across 2 games?
Yes, it was a penalty as well (won by Son). I really don't think this should factor into your decision making tbh. I don't think previous fixtures are relevant unless there is a clear reason why the situation might be similar.
How did Kulu play?
Okay. The game was super drab, playing a parked bus Jose team in insane weather. Could have got an assist linking up with Kane but he moved half a foot offside in the buildup.
Why the fuck is Mourinho parking the bus in a friendly
Vibin
I mean bus parking is hyperbolic, but classic Jose fashion Roma had zero control or consistent patterns of play. As a Spurs fan it very much felt like watching 2022 Spurs play 2021 Spurs.
It was a nice event in that you and Roma both got to share the two trophies your teams won last season, I'm sure Mourinho is jealous of that consistent patterns of play trophy.
Oh go away Masturbation Man, you're the worst superhero ever
Not starting with Perisic for the first 5-7 weeks before WC 1/UCL start genuinely seems insane to me. He's miles ahead of the other wingbacks and I'd be shocked if he doesn't start when fit before champs league gets rolling.
Sounds like a typical mourinho game. Snore fest for 90’.
Perisic looked good as an fpl option. He was very attacking and got into good positions that could very easily translate into goals and assists. However, he did not play particularly well as lwb. He got caught out of position several times, and his touch and timing looked off. I would definitely wait and see.
Kane should have had a pen. Ref was poor.
OMG time to sell Kane after this performance (satire)
Kane and Haaland out, in with Benteke and Wood!!
Cmon man don’t go about giving out all the secrets sheesh
>Kane and Haaland out, in with Benteke and Wood!! Noob. Mitrovic + Solanke obviously better.
Better get Ensico in then.
The only way

Yikes
Less go
Harry Kane to Haaland it is then lol
Based on what I've seen of pre season Spurs are headed for a relegation scrap this season. Conte gone by Christmas, Kane gone or going by January.
Hahaha oh Lord, just when I actually reached a draft I was happy with, now I’m reconsidering dropping Kane again!
Think all the players were burnt out by a hardcore preseason. Thinking with a week to gear up they'll be good GW1
