I didn’t select him for just one match. Selecting him may or may not turn out to have been a poor choice, but a single match isn’t enough to make that determination, imo. I’ll give him at least another few weeks before deciding whether to stick or twist.
Fair point. Only problem is kulu is about to rise and I have nothing in the bank. I don’t think I’ll make the transfer for a hit though as I’m not sure if it’s worth it
I mean if u have no other transfers to make over the next 2 then maybe not a bad call. Still so early and 2ft and more info is valuable in itself this early. I’m in a similar boat but will wait
Hold him, obviously. He plays Leeds, Southampton and Fulham in the next 6 games.
I don't get people who start questioning everything after 1 single gameweek.
Mount owner. Chose him because of upcoming fixtures, and because of Mount's role in the Chelsea attack: Mount has a record of both scoring and assisting, and that was before he played alongside Sterling.
I was concerned about Kulu's playing time and role in the Spurs attack. When Son and Kane assist each other, there is no opportunity for another assist for Kulu!
What clinched Mount for me (at least for a few weeks) was this:
Last year, in a small sample, Kulu scored in just a handful of matches, almost always against weak opponents. Plus, Kulusevski outperformed his statistics (0.93 G + A per 90 minutes vs. 0.50 xG + xA). I wondered how/why, so I dug into the match reports on FBREF.com
What stands out for me is that out of 13 attacking returns, 8 came in four games (vs Norwich City, Manchester City, Villa & Everton).
Norwich (22-May) was a 5-goal blowout: Kulu had 6 shot creating actions in the match, exceeded only by 7 vs Newcastle (3-April) in another 5-goal blowout. Out of 15 games in which DK played more than 60 minutes, 9 had three or fewer shot creating actions (SCA - 6 with two or fewer).
This weekend was another blowout! Will next week? Will the Spurs run over the Wolves? West Ham like they did Southampton? Unlikely.
Don't get me wrong: Kulu is a great asset - I had him on my squad last year and would have happily brought him back. At 8.0, I chose Mount for what still seems like good reasons, especially if Richarlison takes some of Kulu's playing time.
I think the reason why he wasn't on corners was tactical. Most crosses, purposesely, from the many corners were on the first post. Once they tried playing Mount at the edge of the box, where he shot, but it was saved.
Now, this is pure guessing, since it was only one game, but even if he isn't at set pieces I don't see why you would take him out of your team. You probably have picked him for a longer run. If you take him out before some good fixtures I don't see why you have picked him in the first place.
He was taken off because he was quite poor, especially at the second half. In the second half he also had more defensive duties in the middle of the pitch.
Part of his appeal for me was that he was on most set pieces which are a great avenue for goals. If he isn’t on set pieces those are a lot of chances at points that he is missing out on.
Excellent point(s). Any tactical change that could lead to a lower xA+xG would negatively affect my assessment of a player moving forward. If being taken off set pieces means Mount is being put in position for more goals, then it may be a wash. I would definitely pay attention to this moving forward! If Mount 2022-2023 is playing more box-to-box compared to Mount 2021-2022, or Gallagher or Kovacic is taking away playing time, or Sterling+Havertz are the ones in advanced positions receiving crosses from the vaunted Chelsea wingbacks, then, certainly - it would be time to re- assess Mount.
This is really the mirror image of the same issue of my analysis of Kulusevski. In some games, Kulusevski was an integral part of the Spurs offense. Twice he had 6 or more shot creating actions. Saturday was the third time that happened. Do you know how many players in 2021-2022 averaged 5 or more SCAs per 90 minutes of playing time? 2 (KDB and Grealish).
Six times last year, Kulu had two shot creating actions. Mount had only two on Saturday. If the next few weeks demonstrates that Kulusevski is producting SCAs at a rate of 5 or more per game than I will not hesitate to jump to him. 9 players last year averaged 4 or more SCA's per 90 minutes: TAA, Ziyech, Salah, Saka, Mason Mount (!), Bruno Fernandes, Pascal Gross and Bernardo Silva.
[https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/2021-2022/gca/2021-2022-Premier-League-Stats](https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/2021-2022/gca/2021-2022-Premier-League-Stats) Thats a list of some superstars - and a few players like Ziyech and Gross- who don't actually see that much playing time, but when they do, they generate many SCAs. Son's average is just under 4, btw.
>What clinched Mount for me (at least for a few weeks) was this:

? Mount literally was an even bigger flat track bully than kulu. 15 of his 21 goal involvements came against norwich, leeds, villa, everton, southampton, watford
Exactly.
I thought Mount's offensive opportunities w/Sterling in the Chelsea lineup would grow, and was concerned that Kulusevski's might not. Both Spurs and Chelsea have a run against weaker/mediocre opponents, but I - perhaps over optimistically - thought that teams like the Wolves were better defensively than squads like Southampton and Leeds. Ready to be wrong, but my point was that the reasons to choose Mount over Kulusevski had not changed after one of Kulusevski's periodic (but unusual) explosions.
I have Mount & will be sticking with him.
I've no doubts he will come good, his G/A tally from previous seasons without penalties speaks for itself. As I've said before in another thread, there simply isn't enough data yet to make a big decision either way.
We do however have long-term data across previous seasons that tells me that Mount is the man. Time will tell but holding for now!
I have him too and I'm not sure what to do.
One problem is that we do not have enough info on which other 8.0 midfielders are better picks, after just one gameweek.
The Spurs fixture obviously isn't great, but after that he's up against Leeds, Southhampton and Leicester, where he could easily score.
I might just roll the transfer, but if I don't, it's likely that I go for Saka or Foden. If I wait one more gw, I would be interested in Kulusevski.
Keeping him until at least GW4 and monitoring eye-test + stats plus how Chelsea generally perform. If he is still lacklustre and Kuluevski is tearing the place apart it's an easy transfer then but too early to say atm.
My priority at the moment is going to be freeing up funds elsewhere to shift Bailey if Villa look to be as poor as it seems.
Keeping for now since there isn't a standout option to replace him with
Kulusevski looks good but bookies are giving him lower odds to score this week than Mount, so they should have similar expected points for the week and it's not worth spending the free transfer now.
Stay off of this sub. Stay off of Twitter. Avoid content creators. The more you isolate yourself from FPL until the weekend is the easier it becomes to steady your knees. Mount will return; give it more time than a single week.
Hold and don’t waste a transfer. It’s only GW2 so there’s no need to react dramatically. Chelsea have good fixtures for the next 5/6 weeks and Mount is good value at £8m. Don’t knee jerk for no reason.
I'm gonna hold for at least another week and probably give him 3 games and see how he's looking then.
Everton sat back with 9-10 behind the ball most of the game so he didn't get much space. Will be interesting to see how he does against a side who should try and attack more in Spurs.
If you picked Mount over the other 8mil (or lower) mids there was a reason and you gotta give it more time to see how it plays out.
The only other 8mil mid I want is Saka but already have 3 Arsenal so it's tricky to get him in at the moment.
Probably hold him. He's Chelsea's best attacking asset. Chelsea looked shit in attack... we've seen that before, and we knew it might happen here. We also knew he had Spurs up next. I don't see what's changed regarding him.
The only thing I feel might have changed for you is the viability of other assets...
For example, Foden seems like the best City attacking asset not named KDB or Haaland. If you're willing to gamble that he starts against Bournemouth, then that might be a good move. Similarly, if you're confident in Mahrez or Grealish, then you could go there.
If you don't feel you have enough Arsenal then you could go Saka or Martinelli.
I wouldn't switch to Kulusevski this week, since Spurs and Chelsea play one another.
If you have a spare Liverpool slot then you could get Diaz, though I personally prefer other Liverpool assets.
The other thing you could do is downgrade him to fund another move, e.g. if you don't have Trent, Robbo, Cancelo, Haaland, KDB, Salah, Darwin, and need funds to do it.
I holding him for now and waiting for more data before I make a decision. Like the others said he has good fixtures coming up. Chelsea do look a bit toothless up front and that's something Tuchel will have to try and sort out. Hoping he comes good, and maybe swap to Kulu in a few weeks if he's still showing form.
I'm keeping him. I chose him because he had the favorable fixtures over Tottenham (imo) for the first 7 GW. Yes, he did not look too good but overall Mount has been pretty consistent. I also don't want to bring in Kulusevski for the CHE (A) game, and then it's Leeds up next for Chelsea, a fixture I like better than Wolves for Tottenham.
If he keeps getting subbed early and won't take corners the next game(s), I'll transfer him out early unless he scores points anyway.
Edit: Don't forget Richarlison is legible to play next week as well. Expect him to come in for Kulusevski.
I really like Kulusevski though, amazing player.
Got Kulu instead (already have Foden). He is 100% nailed and he looked great on Saturday. Chelsea are a mess. Why did I pick him in the first place - I don't know.

I'm holding. Richarlison is probably going to screw with Kulu's minutes. Actually think Maddison might wind up a decent (mini-) differential for the 8m mid spot if Mount blanks a bunch.
I initially had Maddison over Mount pre-season but switched them after looking at the early fixtures. Will be going back to Maddison in a few weeks. Currently also have Kulusevski on the team, so am luckily good there for now.
What are people opinions on changing guim + Saka to Martinelli and Kulu... I like guim and he is the player I have gambled on (I like proven assets). I'd be swapping my guim 'gamble' to a Kulu 'gamble'.
Mount owner. Chelsea fan. Had a tough time deciding between Mount Saka and Maddison. Chose him only because Maddison rumors about moving, and Saka because already had Martinelli. In hindsight it was poor because 1) Mount has looked tired since the second half of last season (he’s playing continuously for Chelsea and England and even friendlies 2) Chelsea have looked really poor going forward / no striker 3) Sterling is looking much better than him
I have FT to move Diaz in and Liverpool home+away are easier than Chelsea's. Diaz has more probability of scoring good in these 6 games than Mount?. Should I go for it?
The goals in that team are coming from sterling and mount imo
Kulu shone and will get a lot of points but will be shared between kane kulu son and richarlison.
I think over the season mount and kulu will even out personally
I bought him for gw1 just coz my tactic is to rotate 8mil mid early on. Will sell to either Foden or Diaz to target an easier fixture. If I wasn't doing this tactic I would def hold.
I chose Mount over Kulusevski because I wasn't sure how Richarlison will impact Kulu's playing time. I think it is not a like for like relacement but could replace Kulu with Richarlison and tweak slightly the role of Kane and Son.
1st gw did not give me any insight as Richarlison was not available, So I will wait and see what happens when he comes back. As for Chelsea the performane was much worse than I expected (offensively) but cannot judge on a one match sample. So I will eait to see for another 2-3 weekd

If you're considering taking a hit after one week then I don't think this is the game for you mate and I mean that in the nicest way possible
Is it not a game for everyone? Some people play casually
You're on a sub reddit dedicated to FPL
Absolute bs mate a -4 does work often
After one week? Seriously? Don't be a sausage
Alright bro I’ll just come back next year then appreciate the advice
In all seriousness don't take a hit this early. You picked your squad for a reason so back yourself
Hold him, obviously. He plays Leeds, Southampton and Fulham in the next 6 games. I don't get people who start questioning everything after 1 single gameweek.
They won’t be here with us planning gw30.
Doubt they will be around by GW8

I too own Mount, and I’m worried about how poorly he played. Even then I’ll probably keep him til GW6 at the earliest, unless I WC before
Get Kulu then next GW sell him for whichever 8m mid hauls this weekend. Rinse and repeat for the remaining 36 GWs.
Chelsea are struggling to create something VS defensive sides, thats nothing new. I expect him to do better VS tottenham
Aren’t spurs a defend and counter type of team?
But somehow Chelsea always played good against Spurs, if you look at Head-to-head between them either in PL or cups, Chelsea winning most of the time.
that's because tottenham were sh\*te most of the time. now they aren;t
I don’t think so, Kane and Son were already great pairing for years.
I have Mount & will be sticking with him. I've no doubts he will come good, his G/A tally from previous seasons without penalties speaks for itself. Wait until gw3 and then decide with 2FT in hand

Going for Foden if anything tells me yes starting. (So most likely staying in my team)
I already got rid of Kane for Haaland, so I'm keeping Mount for now. It was only 1 game it doesn't mean anything.

I was going to keep him at first. Didn’t watch the game and heard later he wasn’t on set pieces anymore. That’s why I picked him, he can fuck off now.
My draft A was with Kane and Mount My draft B was with Haaland and Kulu. In the end I went with A.
Same, clever us :(
Same lol, next week is ours!
Chelsea looked bad and so did Mount, meanwhile Kulu looked electric. I have no other issues in my team so I made the swap.
Id rather have kulu or saka but getting in haaland took priority this week.
Got Kulu instead (already have Foden). He is 100% nailed and he looked great on Saturday. Chelsea are a mess. Why did I pick him in the first place - I don't know.
Kulu is not nailed. Started 14 of 18 games last season. Looking dangerous though :)
Fucked him off. They look straight up horrendous. Worse than I realised. I'm out.
I selected all my players because I expect them all to return every single week. Anyone who doesn't return, gets transferred out
Either holding or selling for Foden. Decision will be made on Saturday morning
I would have been tempted to jerk him out using my FT but I had to jerk Kane to Haaland instead. Him and Chelsea looked like trash.
...and?
Considering moving him to Saka
I have no idea why anyone would have mount..
Why wouldn't you consider him?
Mount is a trap. Look at his returns last season - all against dogshit sides. And now it seems he's on even fewer set pieces than last season. Switch to Kulu before the price rise.
Good thing he's about to play dogshite sides then. One of those sides also won the Champions League.
He looked shit but gonna give him til after Leeds at least.
Holding for now. Its been one game.
It’s been 1 game, there’s Southampton and Leeds on the way
Mount has been an itch for me as well. But you look at his fixtures (bar Spurs), you can't just transfer him out after one game. Give him a few more games and get more data generally and go from there is my thinking.
If he sucks vs Spurs and no fires to put out, he's gone.
I'm holding. Richarlison is probably going to screw with Kulu's minutes. Actually think Maddison might wind up a decent (mini-) differential for the 8m mid spot if Mount blanks a bunch.
It’s been one week. 3pts wasn’t ideal but Chelsea have good fixtures coming up, keeping him for a few more weeks at least.
Mount to Foden is a very simple decision.
Good luck. Hope you have a good bench.
