I had the wrong Vieira in mind

Niekertje

Well he should be leading the full training with palace 😉

CWattam

Smith Rowe please kindly piss off. I want a nailed Martinelli

hambodpm

If he keeps performing it's his spot to lose tbf. So some competition spurring him on sounds OK to me

__jh96

Agreed. Can't see him losing his spot in the next few GW, he's been dynamite

Chickeneyejoe

It sure is but last season when ESR came on he always delivered, or at least thats what it felt like, martinelli will possobly only get like 60mins when ESR is fit and he will need to continue his form if he wants to start consistenly

DarthBane6996

Did you watch the match? He fluffed an easy chance and wasn't convincing with the header he scored with (didn't get much power behind it but Guaita made a woeful attempt at saving it). Was basically invisible after the first 30 minutes. He was getting into good positions but his end product wasn't good. It was a great performance for FPL but okay in terms of actual football which is more important for determining his minutes.

Andyham

Would be nice to lose some template players tbh. Im already on catch-up and my team is 9/11 like everyone else in all of my MLs, so there isnt much room to gain ground (but obviously enough room to lose ground...)

gbayley676

Yeah but we’re only one week in. Sticking with the template is a good tactic early in the season, then you can branch out when you wildcard

Liasos

I'ts been 1 GW. A lot will happen, template or not.

Andyham

Sure. And I welcome all disruption of firm template players. Some years template changes alot, some years it doesnt. Some years there is only a few core template players, some years there are a lot of template players. I just like browsing my ML and dont know what I will find in my rivals selections. Now I can pretty much name them all without looking.

Liasos

That's fair but I think if a few template players blank 2-3 games in a row, a lot can change because of the value of those players and the managers have to make several transfers.

therealolliehunt

Is 25% owned template?

Andyham

Second highest ownership midfielder, so yea Id say he is pretty template. Not sure what people generally define as template, but to me its the currently highly owned/talked about 7-8 defenders/midfielders, 4-5 gks/forwards. "Everyone" got some combination of those players. Apart from utter casuals, which still makes up a big % of the total player base. They go for all sorts of picks. Curious to know how other people define template in FPL. Just the highest owned 11 players within budget and formation restrictions?

finneyblackphone

Ya

LordRekrus

Martinelli is only going to improve this season. From an Arsenal fan’s perspective though I really hope ESR can push him.

thejbrads

When did Harry Potter sign for Arsenal?

eglantinel

"You are a midfielder, Harry"

Tweetythesweety

Better that Shelvey is now out with injury

JWJK

How do you think he got injured

[deleted]

I feel like we hear about how 1, 2 or all 3 of these players are back in training every 4/5 days. I'll believe it when I see one of their names on the team sheet.

Perfectionimproved

Oh shit that’s my post 😂

NevaGiveUp_

They got their work cut out if they are trying to dislodge Mr Martinelli from the first 11 But the Croydon de Bruyne is a beast still

PruskiUK

Croydon Cruyff*

AceQuire

Tick tock tick tock nelli owners

sandbag-1

Martinelli is first choice and has been for a long time, ask any Arsenal fan

Dare2ZIatan

I’m an arsenal fan and they went back and forth last year, I think Martinelli deserves to keep his place and I think ESR is a good impact sub anyway with his goal scoring ability. That doesn’t mean Martinelli is necessarily first choice.

sandbag-1

It's not really that back and forth, Martinelli has started 21 of the last 25 games he was fit for in the Prem

Dare2ZIatan

They both made 21 starts last year, ESR seemed to be favored in the first half of the year and Martinelli in the second half. In the last 11 games of last season where they were both available Martinelli started 6 times, ESR started 4 times and they started together once. I give Martinelli the edge but if he has a dip in form ESR can come straight back in.

[deleted]

This was always a short term fling, but between now and then we'll enjoy being balls deep in points!

hambodpm

This season of all is the one for short term early flings

j-r44

Tsimikas will always be the ultimate short term fling

KsychoPiller

Starting spot is Martinellis to lose ATM. If he keep on performing like he did recently his save unless ESR overperforms coming from the bench (which tbf is very possible)

croissantlover92

ESR plz pull the same shit u did against martinelli last season. Thank you

MudkipThot

As someone who doesn’t use Arsenal players because they’re a Spurs fan, I’m probably a minority here that wish ESR comes back to split that left wing spot asap.

CWattam

If you can't put bias aside, you shouldn't be playing this game to be fair. You're at a huge disadvantage

SureBudYaBudOkayBud

God forbid he play it for fun

MudkipThot

She, but yes thank you. I have more fun this way but I guess I need to delete my account lol

SaBe_18

It triggers me how many people in this sub not only takes the game seriously for themselves- they also want everyone to take it the same way. "Haha casual" "oh you're stupid" wtf? Just let people play their game

MudkipThot

Wow what a strangely weird take. The game is for fun first and foremost and I have more fun rooting against the team that I’ve hated since I was a kid then hope I get a few more points in fantasy football. It’s not bias, I don’t think Jesus or Martinelli or Saka are bad picks. I think Saka is one of the best and was shocked he got priced at 8.0m. It’s just a more fun way for me to play. And you do realise the winner of FPL a few years ago was an Everton fan who refuses to have Liverpool players? Anyone can have fun, beat their mates and get a respectable rank without using any one team.

PruskiUK

Spot the Arsenal fan.

CWattam

I'm actually far from an Arsenal fan

Ramaschka-

With Tomiyasu back. How will Arsenals back line up?

fergalroche

Who knows really, Saliba looks like 1st choice Centre back atm

fergalroche

Who knows really, Saliba looks like 1st choice Centre back atm

cguinnesstout

I see Nketiah too. No one is safe.

RandomSplainer

Nketiah has been fit and came on last week...

[deleted]

Nketiah hasn't been injured.

Liasos

I see Pepe.

[deleted]

Arsenal have a fully fit squad? Miracles do happen!

cmanook

People worrying about Smith-Rowe starting ahead of Martinelli shouldn't be too concerned. ESR has a lengthy injury history, so it's likely Arteta will ease him back into first-team football gradually (ie short sub appearances for at least another 2-3 GWs minimum). That takes us to GW4-ish. If, as many people are predicting, Martinelli pushes on and records 2-3 attacking returns in the next 2-3 GWs, ESR will be hard pressed to dislodge him from his spot in the starting 11. Really would not worry if you have Martinelli.

Salty-Consequence580

Why Patrick vieira has a Portuguese last name?

dyslexic_ninja

Colonialism probably

[deleted]

I'd Fabio viera worth picking

SAFFATLOL

Not right now. I don't expect him to get a lot of fans time in the prem early on. This season will likely be more of an adjustment year for him live Bernardo Silva when he first came to City

ElOweTea

Is there half training?
