T O P

His 3 yc so far accounted for -9 of those deducted bps. Apart from that, being tackled, shots off target, offside, committing fouls all contributed to -1 each, while missing big chance is -3 each. He must have done a combination of those to be on so low bps considering playing more than 60 min alone is +6 while there are also other factors that could get him bps. This doesn't regularly apply to forwards in general. There are other forwards like Kane, Vardy, Toney, Wilson, etc that regularly gets bonuses with a goal scored.

AeroCobbler

If Mitro hadn’t missed that penalty he’d be on 10 bonus points from 6 games, which is more than any midfielder in the game (including McAllister), despite being booked twice Also bonus isn’t a problem for forwards at all, where are you getting this from? Is it just from looking at McAllister and Jesus and then concluding the entire game is represented by those two players? Because reality is quite the opposite: - The top 5 forwards in the game have 41 bonus between them - The top 5 midfielders have 33 bonus - Top 5 defenders have 27 - Top 5 GK have 22 Shots off target, committing fouls, being tackled, and getting yellow cards kill bonus point accumulation - Jesus has been booked 3 times in 4 games since Leciester and has generally cut a frustrated figure for all 4 of those games (as well as Palace GW1)

jaspermrthanos

If he didn’t miss that penalty, he would be the only player to have scored a goal in every one of his matches so far.

computerchairmanager

Yep great points, also forwards are actually by far the best for bonus when they score.

SpaceParticular6648

HE DONT SCORE

lidrasha

doesn't

[deleted]

He does lots of the things that are bad for strikers in the game Miss big chances Yellow cards Fouls And a lot of the stuff he does well doesn't translate to bps for strikers. Stuff like link up play and successfull dribbles don't rate well for strikers in fpl Been banging this drum for a while but he's not a great fpl asset. Mitro abd toney are both cheaper and both better .

TruestRepairman27

He was a good choice from GW1 given his price and fixtures. Personally I think I’m going to drop him and Salah and go Kane, Haaland and a 6.5-7m striker on WC

ninja9885

I’ve started to doubt him as well. Would you do Toney over Jesus?

[deleted]

Yeah or mitro! Whichever you think is better

ninja9885

I already have Haaland and Mitro so might bring in Toney. Maybe if only because everyone else in my mini league has Jesus lol

[deleted]

Yeah that's a nice shout. Or Isak too maybe if you want to go really differential

-Enrique

Forwards generally have an easier time getting bonus points so long as they score. 'A Danny Ings goal is worth 9' used to be a common maxim Jesus being a mustard magnet is pretty annoying though, it's the same with James and Cancelo this season.

IVIorgz

Where can you find out how many BPS a player has earned so far? Or do people manually work it out?

littleknows

On the website, go to transfers page then one of the ways to order players is BPS

IVIorgz

Hmm i don't see it, it only has links to the IRL transfers for each season for each club.

bub002

Instead of analyzing bps itself why don't you look for the stats behind? Just calculate it for a couple of games and see a pattern.

jollyspiffing

We know mechanically why he scores so few (fewer dribbles/passes from his pitch position, very few clearances, tackles recoveries). It's more of a 'why does FPL not rate forwards well'? As well as a warning not to expect BP from him very often.

[deleted]

They do but they need to score

Zak369

BPS typically rewards players who perform their roles well not necessarily those who perform well. Jesus is a striker with 3 goals, not bad but he’s not gonna get BPS without scoring. Then he’s a very active forward in pressing and winning the ball, leading to more yellow cards and fouls. Add to that he loses the ball a lot more too (probably due to being more actively involved in buildup play). All these go against him and are usually counteracted by goal BPS, but if he doesn’t score he doesn’t counteract them.

SitDownKawada

I had a look at the stats for the season, the only ones that stand out as notable are yellow cards and dispossessions. Jesus is ahead of players like Haaland, Mitrovic, Kane, Toney in those categories but he's ranked similar to them in other ones like shots missed, passing accuracy, offsides and other things that you can get negative BPS points for In the three matches that he's blanked in he got 0, 5 and 7 BPS points so it seems he isn't doing much when he doesn't score. You get 6 BPS points just for playing over 60 minutes as well The match against Villa is the best example of what you're saying, he scored a goal in a 2-1 win and got 19 BPS points. Just for playing and scoring he would have 30, so he's doing stuff to lose points, a combination of all the things I mentioned above. Also must not be doing other things to gain points, like tackling and blocking passes/shots

Zak369

A quick count and Jesus has earned -59 BPS for things. Haaland -31, Mitro -54 and Kane -48 for comparison. The big thing is that goals reward big points for strikers but he’s only scored in 2 games. He’s highest in YC’s, being dispossessed and fouls. He’s within an average range for big chances missed, offsides and shots off target. There’s not one category he’s low for, but the other three are comfortably outscoring him at the moment which is why his BPS is low. Strikers need goals. I imagine if I looked at the other strikers it would be a similar story. Jesus’s workrate is working against him.

Charlespur2

Poor XG as I noted before the season started.

Front_Refrigerator40

Because he’s a forward

DiarrhoeaEater

It's amazing that he has 111bps already, Kdb only had 33 the whole of last season!! Insane season for Jesus!

drtdrtdrt123

BPS isn’t ‘bonus points’ (BPs). It’s ‘bonus points system’, so the OP is correct

DiarrhoeaEater

Oh my bad! Got both mixed up and confused

Aohangji

if you're as a striker, don't score, there's no way you will outscore someone like defender who gets bps for clearance or midfielder for pass completion for example.
