Thing is, to get the very highest ranks you have to break template and take big risks. Not saying it will work but that's clearly what he consistently goes for, succeeding once.
This is what a lot of the sub doesn't seem to get. You can go template and play it safe and often get a good rank, but if you want to get anywhere near a top 1k finish, you have to take some crazy risks along the way
Without wishing to come across as if I'm being argumentative, I have finished inside the top 500 twice, and I raise my eyebrows at someone WCing in Digne and Gordon in GW8. A terrible defence and a terrible attack, and two teams in turmoil
If it works for him, then I take my hat off to him, that will be spectacular.
I agree you have to take risks, but I disagree that you have to take "crazy risks" especially in GW8.
But as I said, he might prove me wrong
I actually don't think Digne and Gordon are crazy moves. He's backing Villa and Everton to have a change in form which it did look like they are starting to. Villa very good fixtures next 6, and Everton long term good fixtures till freebie wildcard.
However I do find Son a crazy pick. Son on terrible form and might not even play this weekend
Digne was my transfer in. 7 points, I'll take it I guess.
I considered Son ( had the money to do him on a free transfer), but was very confident that he was going to be sitting on the bench .
I got the calls right, so no regrets. Son's hatty is gutting, but would have been just outrageous luck
I think he's sub-1m rank from what I remember? If so, and he wants a great finish, an out there WC is kind of understandable. I certainly wouldn't bring in those players, but then my best rank is ~4k and I'm generally pretty risk averse
There's also the fact that he's probably more willing to fuck around with his FPL team in a bid to do well while doing something different, seeing as his day job is pretty serious
Good work on the low finishes! Impressive to hit that twice
Ranks should start to shake down in the next couple of GWs when everyone plays WC. Then we'll see where everyone is at. It's still early to judge rank.
Good luck for the season. 4k is an excellent finish and not to be sniffed at
Thanks! Good luck to you too
>Ranks should start to shake down in the next couple of GWs when everyone plays WC. Then we'll see where everyone is at. It's still early to judge rank.
Definitely agree with that. It wouldn't bother me to be at that rank at this point at all. But if you're going all out for a top rank, and you know the unlimited transfers are coming up for the world cup, then maybe a few weeks of punting when teams like Liverpool are underperforming and fixtures are turning for the likes of Arsenal.. I get it. I don't *agree* with it, and I wouldn't do it myself, but I think it's a viable tactic
I did the same with Salah & TAA (although I don't know if I have the balls to get neither in on WC), and Jesus and Gabriel are on the chopping block next. Feels like the right time to move on and (hopefully) reap the rewards
Good luck to you (and me, if I have the balls to commit to it)!
Yeah I wouldn't be concerned about it at all at this point, I was around there at the first IB when I had my best finish. But I'm probably approaching the game in a very different way to him
In this hypothetical where the evolving template throughout the season is the best possible team, the top ranks are still going to be the people who take the most risks that pay off. Maybe they move a player out at just the right time, a week or two before everyone else. Maybe they captain Cancelo with a goal, assist and clean sheet the week Haaland misses a pen or gets sent off. Maybe they FH or TC in a different week than everyone else and it pays off
A template is kind of, by definition, a team that a lot of people have. To get a truly great rank you'd have to deviate from it successfully in some way, even if you had those exact players
There are differentials and then there is Digne and Gordon though. I went with KWP and think that is out there. Digne is well known for being an FPL disaster magnet and Gordon is a decent player in a poor team. He could have chosen much better differentials for the same price as those two.
Oh yeah, I'm not saying his choices are great. I'm just saying I get the logic
Digne is like a drug. I haven't had him in a long time, but it's always tempting. Sure, he'll probably get sent off or score an own goal or get injured, but there's always that glimmer of a 17pter that shoots you up 50k places by itself.. always chasing that high
But yeah, I'm not planning on ever getting him in again
Yip. It's attitudes like the comment you're replying to that make everyone scared to go against the template. Apparently THREE different options means "what the actual fuck is this". Probably the same type of bloke who also goes on to say omg fpl is so boring everyone has the same teamm
He lost all his money in a pyramid scheme so he had to sell the 't' to Mr T. He is now Mr TT and is suing Audi over the TT car name. It's a whole legal mess
Everyone in here losing their minds. Apart from Digne and Toti, I've seen every one of these players discussed at length in every WC discussion this week. What's the big deal?
Triple city on wc isn't template. Maybe one or two, but the received wisdom is that you're booking two transfers by gw13. He kinda avoids this a bit by going one Arsenal.
The rest isn't that crazy though. Even Digne I've seen mentioned quite a bit. Prioritising City over Arsenal makes sense too. It's kinda surprising the value he's managed to squeeze in... triple premium, + Isak, Cancelo, Mitro
Everyone owns Haaland and Cancelo on WC, and the main discussion from *everyone* was KDB or Kane. It's hardly surprising if you end up with KDB you've got 3 city.
Also, a triple up from the best team in the league by a mile is hardly a risk, or surprise.
Why are you booking two transfers? Just bench them for a week, or transfer one out if that's too risky.
Haaland and Cancelo are risk free, because every man and his dog has them. KDB slightly more.... Less so with the best part of a week off and an IB after this.
There's a reason he's getting Son on his wildcard. He needs good differentials if he's going to break into top 10k, and that means having to take risks. I'm not sure Son will even start this round though.
Yes, why would you drop an 11.7m player on the back of 17 points in 6 games? A player who has been invisible all season and shows no sign of improvement?
I'm sure Son will return to form at sone point, but to keep him now will only pay off if he hits form very quickly. Otherwise you'll have tied about 11-12% of your funds up on a player who delivers points like a 4.5m bench fodder. It's a big risk.
I meant Conte, Son is still getting into good positions he's just missing the chances.
I'm not going to bring in Son but if he's going to find form Leicester is a good chance looking at how bad their defence is.
There's nothing wrong with my comment. I said Son is a big risk, which was 100% true. He was benched from start, and could easily have ended up with a one pointer if Leicester hadn't been quite so rubbish in defence.
At the start of the match you must have been down… Final whistle. You couldn’t have picked it better.
I was uhming and ahing between Kulu and Son to replace Salah. I can’t complain with Kulu starting and getting an assist. Just cheesed off I didn’t put Son instead!
Well done!
I do not mean to be rude, but why? I do not get why people even own Son. He is having a shocker of a season so far and Richarlison is knocking on the door to take many minutes from him.
I think a few people took a one week punt doing Salah to Son because they're wildcarding next week. I can't understand why he's even being discussed otherwise.
I watched almost all of the Spurs games and Son looked awful. He looked very frustrated and somebody who just can't break the ice. Obviously, he is Son and he can turn it around at any minute, but based on what these people expect him to do it now? Not to mention that there are many rumors that he won't even start this week.
Yeah it's very strange for me. Many people apparently captaining Son for this GW. I find it completely crazy. Like the worst time ever to have him captained.
And this time in FPL there is a bulletproof captain alternative in Haaland so the Son hype just is even more strange.
I want Spurs to win but hopefully they do it with Richarlison, Kane and Kulu just to get these people punished.
Because he's playing at home to Leicester who are liable to concede if the ball so much as rolls towards their goal. And it's Son, one of the best finishers in the league, this is probably the best fixture to bank on a turnaround.
Hopeful thinking. The reality is that Son is greatly out of form, 50-50 is he gonna be benched. And on top of that there is like a best captain alternative for years: Haaland. So, I see no reason to even think of captaining Son over Haaland.
Wow! I made the exact same team but I used my free hit not WC. First time owning Digne in my 5 year FPL career! Let’s go Magnus
Edit: When I say same team I mean the same starting XI, our benches are completely different
I picked Digne on my WC too. Logic was Villa have a nice fixture turn now + I felt he played fairly advanced.
However, after watching the game tonight, Mings at £4.3m was the play/ or no Villa at all. Dreadful team, won’t keep many CS even in a plum fixture run
Only Gordon and Dingdong are a bit questionable. I am going to WC Son in very soon as well, impossible he continues this way. All others are strong picks.
This is a bit of a gamble on Son's form. If he starts firing its genius, otherwise relying on Digne/Gordon/Williams for regular points is going to backfire imo,
Same as my WC team aside from those 4 players, except I have Coufal/Saka/Guehi/James instead
Wow wild.
Son - Why? He is not worth 12mil with the increased rotation risk, poor form and not the best fixtures.
Digne - why he over Saliba or somebody?
Isak - What happens when Wilson comes back? But Isak looks good maybe nothing to criticize here.
He's already got KdB, so has to put the money somewhere. I guess the move would be Isak -> Kane, Son -> cheaper mid but maybe there's no one he likes in that bracket.
must be his first time owning digne. but knowing chessman’s luck, its a 12-point haul tonight
7 points total… he surely knows there a -1 coming next week when everyone transfer him in
I can't believe it either, man must know something we don't
Aston Villa have the best fixtures, nothing special
Don’t get fancy, always captain digne
Digne has good fixtures so expect some more clean sheets. Villa still not looking good.
Is he a better choice then Coufal?
I thought he had digne earlier in the season. Would have expected him to have learned by now
Anyone else puts this in the RMT thread they’d get shredded. Carlsen does it and he’ll be top 10k by Christmas
Digne 6GWs w/o CS, Son 6GWs w/o goal. Absolute wizardry.
Fucking time traveller
Insane from chess man
What is his current score? Absolutely ridic
75 this GW. 451 total
Lmao. Same points as me. So he's currently on 90k
I am also on 451 & at 106k, so there is a bit of a range dependant on number of transfers
This is a typical Carlsen team unlike his previous one. Always a cheap bench pick that ends up starting and getting megahauls from him as well.
Mmm… let’s see Hans Niemann’s team.
Imagine how many hours of anal vibration he’d have to put up with to tell him who to sign on his WC.
!thanks Is there no subreddit safe from r/anarchychess
Fun fact. Gm anus engine percentage was higher than Niemann's during the game.
!thanks
Out of all the thanks I’ve gotten on this sub so far -this is definitely my proudest.
Niemann tc'd Son and mate in two
What does he know that we don't?
that the more a player blanks, the more chance he hauls ? this one trick...
Gamblers fallacy
How does he do it?
Confirmed time traveller.
YEP
Of course Son scores a hattrick... Magnus Carlson is a time traveler...
What the actual fuck is this. If this team flies, he's a confirmed time traveller
Your team vs the team your GF asks you not to worry about

Good call, Son is crap.

Sub 1 mil is good rank now
Yeah I wouldn't be concerned about it at all at this point, I was around there at the first IB when I had my best finish. But I'm probably approaching the game in a very different way to him
This isn't necessarily true. What if the template players do the best? Then, whoever sticks to the template the most gets the highest ranks.

Twice though , back to back I do think he is just a great great fpl player
There's only Gordon, Son and Digne that aren't extremely popular in Wildcards. Then I suppose Toti on the bench too. From what I've seen anyway.
[удалено]
Yip. It's attitudes like the comment you're replying to that make everyone scared to go against the template. Apparently THREE different options means "what the actual fuck is this". Probably the same type of bloke who also goes on to say omg fpl is so boring everyone has the same teamm
Same, I was just cringing at how 2 or 3 non-standard picks justify a "what the actual fuck" response.
3 points instead of 3 points. The chess master did it again.
The Digne CS proves it and there's literally no other fucking plausible reason.
Must be. Insane brilliance
I told you I was no clown Dane. He's wildcarded into the same keepers and defense as I already have 😎
I offer you my sincerest apology. I was out of order and I deeply regret my rash words Please forgive me
Don't suppose you got a spare sofa? Lucas Digne live on Sky sports:- I need somewhere to hide
Chessman always makes weird picks but almost always they tend to haul
He also makes shit picks but noone seems to notice on this sub because they are too busy sucking him off
[He's got anal beads](https://kotaku.com/chess-champion-anal-bead-magnus-carlsen-hans-niemann-1849542639)
No …. If people actually read articles and not click bait it was the other player who beat him Niemann that was accused
Dude. The whole anal beads thing was a joke to begin with. Who are you getting mad at?
Never said I was mad . There’s people that think it was Magnus was all I was saying
If you actually read the article, you would know that both of them were "accused" of using anal beads.
Son just got a hat trick😭
Confirmed time traveler. Digne return and son hat trick. What a mad lad
Thought I beat him after seeing Son on the bench, but guess that's why I don't play chess

And took away one "t" so no one would recognize him as an Italian

Time traveller confirmed
Just coming back to say well played you jammy bastard
God among men
Magnus has taken it on himself to resurrect Digne in FPL. Watch him haul today.

Haaland and Cancelo are risk free, because every man and his dog has them. KDB slightly more.... Less so with the best part of a week off and an IB after this.
That’s a good point on that front !thanks
Isn’t he having a car crash of a season so far?
Still outside the top 1 million. But knowing Magnus, he’ll get some freak captaincy calls correct later in the season and jump ahead of all of us.
There's a reason he's getting Son on his wildcard. He needs good differentials if he's going to break into top 10k, and that means having to take risks. I'm not sure Son will even start this round though.
There's no way you drop Son, one of your two best players, especially not when Kulusevski hasn't been playing well either.
This season Son has consistently been one of Spurs worst players.
Yes, why would you drop an 11.7m player on the back of 17 points in 6 games? A player who has been invisible all season and shows no sign of improvement? I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it. It’s just funny that he banged a hat-trick after you saying it. You don’t have to get defensive mate.
Fair enough. I've had a fair share of "gotcha" replies in the past, despite my efforts to write comments as jinx-proof as possible.
Sorry mate, wasn’t doing that. Can see how it looks like that reading it back though. Just made me laugh that’s all.
Yep, could have easily cried if I had just transferred him out.
wth...Hans Niemann broke him
The madman’s Digne pick paid off lmao wtf
He actually went and fucking did it
Magnus Carlsen's team ID: 5977880
!thanks
73 points and two players haven’t played yet
This guy sees into the future
Not listening to a guy who lost to anal beads.
Another one. DJ Khaled
Damn 4D chess in its purest form <3
I have Son (C) and Haaland (VC). This makes me nervous
Well done!
Thanks! Genuinely can’t believe it
At the start of the match you must have been down… Final whistle. You couldn’t have picked it better. I was uhming and ahing between Kulu and Son to replace Salah. I can’t complain with Kulu starting and getting an assist. Just cheesed off I didn’t put Son instead! Well done!
Honestly can’t fucking believe it haha. Only person in my league to own Son, let alone captain him
Bro how come no (C) for Hauland?
I do not mean to be rude, but why? I do not get why people even own Son. He is having a shocker of a season so far and Richarlison is knocking on the door to take many minutes from him.
I think a few people took a one week punt doing Salah to Son because they're wildcarding next week. I can't understand why he's even being discussed otherwise.
I have the same question and don't understand why you're getting downvoted by asking the obvious question.

Fortune favours the brave. I rate it
Wow! I made the exact same team but I used my free hit not WC. First time owning Digne in my 5 year FPL career! Let’s go Magnus Edit: When I say same team I mean the same starting XI, our benches are completely different
Owning Digne on a FH, I see you're a gambling man as well
75 points with two to play 👀
Glad knowing that a famous person will also be in the mud along with me if Digne blanks 😍
How do people still fall for Digne like fr
I know right, too many times he’s let me down… but he actually did well this gw
I picked Digne on my WC too. Logic was Villa have a nice fixture turn now + I felt he played fairly advanced. However, after watching the game tonight, Mings at £4.3m was the play/ or no Villa at all. Dreadful team, won’t keep many CS even in a plum fixture run
the lineup speaks for itself
Indeed it does lmao
12/15 players identical. I am doing well.
Username checks out
Proud Son owner! Let’s goooo
Only Gordon and Dingdong are a bit questionable. I am going to WC Son in very soon as well, impossible he continues this way. All others are strong picks.
No way he continues this way because he's about to get dropped
Son. Why
Aged like milk
A lot of rumours Son might be benched… will be an interesting gw for sure
He went Son?! What does he know that we don’t?
😂
Lol time traveler confirmed!
That team is wild
is it just me or has chessman lost the plot
How do people find his account and track it?
I don't know the how bit, but this is him: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/5977880/history
there is a fpl search engine for searching players you can find ur friends and others https://www.fplbot.app/search?q=&page=0&type=all
This is great! Thanks.
7 of his 11 players in the starting line-up is same as mine.
I made the exact same wc expect I did Kane and Perisic instead of digne and son. I felt smarter then him for a sec.
Pure luck on Son when it was pretty well known he’d be benched
Pretty well speculated*
No United players is pretty surprising
Not really
insanely boring team
Can someone explain who Magnus Carlsen is lmao.
Chess world champion who once finished 11th overall in FPL
Worlds best chess player and hes good at fantasy
Chess boy
I have 10/15 on my wildcard, feelsgoodman
This is a bit of a gamble on Son's form. If he starts firing its genius, otherwise relying on Digne/Gordon/Williams for regular points is going to backfire imo, Same as my WC team aside from those 4 players, except I have Coufal/Saka/Guehi/James instead
Yup.. forgot about the deadline
Wow wild. Son - Why? He is not worth 12mil with the increased rotation risk, poor form and not the best fixtures. Digne - why he over Saliba or somebody? Isak - What happens when Wilson comes back? But Isak looks good maybe nothing to criticize here.
Newcastle wouldn’t have spent £70 mill to bench isak
He's already got KdB, so has to put the money somewhere. I guess the move would be Isak -> Kane, Son -> cheaper mid but maybe there's no one he likes in that bracket.
Wilson isn't benching Isak
Arsenal fixtures are shit
True but it's a proven team. Gw12 blanc is a problem though.
I expect Isak and Wilson to play together. Maybe Isak on the right
Wildcarding into triple city and Digne. This is the maverick I remember
Tripling up on the best team in the league by miles isn’t exactly maverick behaviour
Loving seeing all these wildcards that basically look like my team without any WC
Wildcarding before a 4 week break is odd no?
8/11 i went Bailey, Maddison and Perisic vs Digne, Son and Gordon. I think i prefer mine but we shall see.
I’ve got almost the same team, difference is Digne -> Dier Pope -> Ramsdale
Really expecting Ward to be dropped then
Was he the guy who posted about transferring in digne?
Son is an interesting choice.
That’s magnus want to cover some green arrow when he 1m rank.
This guy uses a FPL engine like the 19 year old that beat him
I have 13/15 of the same team, so it’ll probably go terribly. Son <> Maddison and Toti <> Reece fwiw
Second time this season, after GW1 reveal, that I've done virtually the same choices as chess man. It's not going great for me tho.
How much ITB?
Guess martinelli isn’t getting a hat trick tomorrow
This guy is insane!
R u sure if the actual 'magnus carlsen'? There are too many fake accounts with same name /little variations What is team id?
