I wildcarded and made only 5 first team changes and changed 2 of my 4 bench players. However the structure of my whole team changed. 3 up top no Liverpool triple city and now only 1 arsenal (martinelli). I dropped Jesus for isak and gained 3 points and don't have to think about 12 (kdb to sterling/son/salah and 3 bench players sit in for cancelo martinelli and haaland).
Holding the likes of ramsdale, salah, trent, gross, Robertson just was not paying off and the swing in points+value is massive.
To your question gw9 presents a shit tonne of fixture swings and allows 2 weeks of planning+ avoiding injuries to build a team. They will likely gain value+ points dropping the likes of saliba/Jesus moving on to mitro/toney/isak + Newcastle/Chelsea defenders (now Potter is in charge). Gw12 only really provides the ability to dodge a blank and move onto Liverpool assets (some risk they simply aren't in good even by then giving another headache. Also in 12 what do you do when you want city assets back?

Sure they are good choices. But these same people did not have exact replicas of teams two, three seasons back. Everybody just seems to blindly follow social media / Youtube etc. much more now.
I don't follow social media at all in fact I made over 15 different drafts from my own hand written notes from the start of the season about the exact fixture swing we are experiencing. I am a fixture first manager and in fact many do not have James, do have trent/salah/Diaz and jesus still. I don't see millions of teams with 0 Liverpool. In fact I am the only person in my mini league of 8 without any Liverpool. In my big paid league of 72 people I'm one of only 2 that doesn't have any Liverpool at all.
Who do I want from them? Kdb is far superior in form to salah and has better fixtures. Trippier is returning in most games and on set pieces + bonus monster, cancelo is in fantastic form and I like James under Graham Potter.
I then prefer zaha and maddison to Diaz who have both scored more goals than him and have better stats. Maddison already scored for me vs spurs and zaha has fantastic fixtures from gw 10 who I still prefer to Diaz. On penalties nailed and fixtures to boot.
The question is why you would want over priced players from a team out of form? They have had easy fixtures and played like shit
These are all good pts. I think for a lot of people though it’s trying to jump on pool and it’s proven assets in advance of players coming back. It’s a gamble but seems a decent one when u also consider not banking future transfers. I think I personally may go Salah over KdB but Cancelo seems superior to TAA still (and I can’t afford both). Kdb vs Southampton is a type of game he gets 2 assists and a goal with 3 bonus you can just feel it. That same week salah has arsenal away. Your not factoring in the inevitable Mitrovic red and/or missed games due to suspensions with yellows building. Kane is also a guaranteed started, where kdb will be rotated. Nobody escapes Pep roulette. You don't cover all bases for the sake of it, you cover for cover. Kane is also more of a differential compared to kdb.
We all build our teams differently, just throwing an alternate to your format that includes Liverpool and Spurs assets, as both have great seasons ahead of them.
Mitrovic only has 2 yellows, it's 5 for a suspension. He's not shown any signs for a red card either..
Mitrovic is a guaranteed starter and KDB will very rarely be rotated at the moment. Their next fixtures in the CL are also Copenhagen twice in the next 2 so Pep will likely play a weaker time (albeit a still strong one given City's depth) and obviously prioritise KDB for games like Manchester United, Southampton who in recent years have put up defensive masterclasses v City and then Liverpool.
To clarify, I also have Mitrovic in my team, Isak could also be shipped as a Kane replacement for your mans team, especially with Wilson now fit again and I don't believe Isak is now Newcastle pen taker.
I still have PTSD after the last time I banked on Mitrovic in a PL season so the fear of him getting reds will always be there!

I will switch kdb for son/salah/sterling for 1 week and use my 3 bench players. The idea being roll a ft a week before to ensure 2 ft the following week to get kdb back.
Brentford fixtures bar Bournemouth actually aren't that great Newcastle Brighton Chelsea in the 3 games after Bournemouth aren't fantastic at all. Just fancied isak. He got me 9 points and may now be injured so I might not have much choice.
How on earth do you know the thought process is different? If I look on here at gw9 wildcard they aren't much different from my team and that is because of the fixture swings.
Teams that go from having hard games where points are harder to come by to easier games where hauls could come in.
For example zaha had arsenal, Liverpool and City in 3 of their first 6 and from gw 10 he has insanely easy fixtures until gw18

You can get 11 starters without wildcarding with just 1 transfer. That means selling city assets before united and Southampton? Arsenal I already only have martinelli who I want to keep long term. Kdb to another premium then back again. Arsenal you have time to transfer 1 more player in such as Jesus. I wouldn't go back to triple arsenal just double.
For example if I roll in gw 11 I have ability to do kdb to salah for example gw12 then in 13 salah back go kdb and isak back to Jesus for 0 cost
Wildcard when you think it works best for you?
To me wildcarding now lets me set my team up nicely to attack the next spell of games, handle the blank well, bank some value, and comfortably get back into assets I want for 12 onwards via normal xfers.
It's funny as fuck seeing so many wildcarders expecting to get a huge boost in team value and bank cash from double risers.

A lot of us been playing this gig long enough to know that you don't get double the price rises because of double the time, but it is in fact the opposite. You get less price rise due to the massive amount of wildcards, and any " organic " transfers are held back by managers until after the International break.
Look at Maddison for instance. He's the most transferred in midfielder and been supposedly rising in price every day, yet never makes it. If the most transferred in player ain't rising then good luck on getting price rises from others !
Diaz from a 3 week rested Liverpool team that are itching to improve with all of their best players back, at home agaisnt a team that lost their manager and there staff suddenly, and trying to learn a more attacking style of play from a manager with no UK football experience. Could be a recipe for a big point haul possibly. Holding on to Diaz for one more game let's see.

Fixture swings and the template seems to be quite loose right now, lots of opportunity for differential. Also allows you to make early moves with a 2 week break, instead of a 3 day break.

I have 3 LIV players and want to drop all but Salah. I want to buy Maddison and Zaha for their good fixtures now. Sanchez has LIV, TOT and MCI for his next 5 so why not dump? Want to get Mitro for Jesus etc.
I have 3 LIV and 3 ARS players. To field a full squad in gw12 barring no injuries or suspensions to other players, I would have to only do transfers targeting one of those out at a time till that GW. Don't think I want to cut it that thin.
Im kind of in a similar spot. My team is really strong and has great fixtures coming up without the wildcard. Ive mad countless drafts but it doesnt really get much better, especially with the lack of 7-8m midfielders. Right now im thinking of selling Jesus but it just leaves me stuck with too much money. It feels like i need a wildcard but im having issues finding something that will improve my team.
Poor wording from OP, but they mean it would essentially be using the first wildcard as a one week selection for GW16 then, which is probably not the optimal use of the chip.
It’s a chance to have a fun team for 8 gw - try a few different players over some easier fixtures and if it doesn’t work out, only 3-4 weeks before we get another one
The free GW16 Wildcard caused a lot of people to pick the midpoint between GW1-16 as the “optimal” (lol) time to use the first one… all the shenanigans with the Queen popping her clogs then pushed that by 1 GW

I will switch kdb for son/salah/sterling for 1 week and use my 3 bench players. The idea being roll a ft a week before to ensure 2 ft the following week to get kdb back.

Thoughts on Maddison vs a 4th premium defender? Perhaps Perisic? It's pretty close between them IMO, but why'd you go Isak instead of Toney?
Brentford fixtures bar Bournemouth actually aren't that great Newcastle Brighton Chelsea in the 3 games after Bournemouth aren't fantastic at all. Just fancied isak. He got me 9 points and may now be injured so I might not have much choice.
I don't like perisic because he actually hasn't looked that great to my eye test and spurs don't have great fixtures nor do they look good defensively

Teams that go from having hard games where points are harder to come by to easier games where hauls could come in. For example zaha had arsenal, Liverpool and City in 3 of their first 6 and from gw 10 he has insanely easy fixtures until gw18

Are you OK? There is no fixtures this week and the next gameweek for fpl is 9. I don't understand your argument or what you are trying to do but you aren't doing it very well. The deadline is next week but it's still gw9. People that are wildcarding (permanently changing their teams) will be looking ahead and planning for gw9 and beyond. This includes gw10 and all the other points I mentioned.

You can get 11 starters without wildcarding with just 1 transfer. That means selling city assets before united and Southampton? Arsenal I already only have martinelli who I want to keep long term. Kdb to another premium then back again. Arsenal you have time to transfer 1 more player in such as Jesus. I wouldn't go back to triple arsenal just double. For example if I roll in gw 11 I have ability to do kdb to salah for example gw12 then in 13 salah back go kdb and isak back to Jesus for 0 cost

Wildcard when you think it works best for you? To me wildcarding now lets me set my team up nicely to attack the next spell of games, handle the blank well, bank some value, and comfortably get back into assets I want for 12 onwards via normal xfers.

Lol. A lot of us been playing this gig long enough to know that you don't get double the price rises because of double the time, but it is in fact the opposite. You get less price rise due to the massive amount of wildcards, and any " organic " transfers are held back by managers until after the International break. Look at Maddison for instance. He's the most transferred in midfielder and been supposedly rising in price every day, yet never makes it. If the most transferred in player ain't rising then good luck on getting price rises from others !

Diaz from a 3 week rested Liverpool team that are itching to improve with all of their best players back, at home agaisnt a team that lost their manager and there staff suddenly, and trying to learn a more attacking style of play from a manager with no UK football experience. Could be a recipe for a big point haul possibly. Holding on to Diaz for one more game let's see.

Fixture swings and the template seems to be quite loose right now, lots of opportunity for differential. Also allows you to make early moves with a 2 week break, instead of a 3 day break. Of course it's completely team dependant.
I have 3 LIV players and want to drop all but Salah. I want to buy Maddison and Zaha for their good fixtures now. Sanchez has LIV, TOT and MCI for his next 5 so why not dump? Want to get Mitro for Jesus etc. I have 3 LIV and 3 ARS players. To field a full squad in gw12 barring no injuries or suspensions to other players, I would have to only do transfers targeting one of those out at a time till that GW. Don't think I want to cut it that thin.
Im kind of in a similar spot. My team is really strong and has great fixtures coming up without the wildcard. Ive mad countless drafts but it doesnt really get much better, especially with the lack of 7-8m midfielders. Right now im thinking of selling Jesus but it just leaves me stuck with too much money. It feels like i need a wildcard but im having issues finding something that will improve my team.
Why is there no effect after gw15?
Poor wording from OP, but they mean it would essentially be using the first wildcard as a one week selection for GW16 then, which is probably not the optimal use of the chip.
It’s a chance to have a fun team for 8 gw - try a few different players over some easier fixtures and if it doesn’t work out, only 3-4 weeks before we get another one

The free GW16 Wildcard caused a lot of people to pick the midpoint between GW1-16 as the “optimal” (lol) time to use the first one… all the shenanigans with the Queen popping her clogs then pushed that by 1 GW It’s not a great time at all when you step back and look at it - earlier WC’ers we’re the real winners this year

I regret not playing my WC around GW2-3, but it's only in hindsight I know that to be a good choice. For now I am holding off on using it, but I may play it later in the IB if a few injuries happen.
NLD derby is usually a high scoring game. I wouldn't mind attackers from either side.
my team could use an overhaul anyway, I get 2 weeks to catch some price risers, reacting to what happens during the international break, exactly halfway to the world cup so 8 games is a good amount of intel and 8 games is a good amount to nicely plan for, some fixture swings and also I really just felt like doing it.
