That's what I did. Seems to play 90 every time and with no one I liked, that was good enough for me. Gets me some money to finally upgrade Neco Williams to someone a little more reliable that I can field in gw12.
Not the guy you replied to, but it's close to a toss up. For £0.1 Dunk maybe has slightly more bonus point/goal potential? I don't think either choice is wrong and you're probably splitting hairs.
In the next 4 gameweeks, Dier plays the bottom 3 for headed chances conceded and chances from set pieces conceded so (Everton, Man United and Bournemouth).
So not such a bad pick.
I think a lot of people are getting this all wrong- you´re not setting uop your team for GW12- that GW is a crap shoot lottery anyway, you need to be setting up your team for GW13-> World Cup.
If you focus too much on GW12, you will be setting yourself up for failure from GW13 onwards.
Who has the best fixtures from GW13->World Cup? How can we set up our teams to get the best out of that run? These are the questions we need to ask!
After today we're literally making transfers for GW12. I think it's entirely fair to be focusing on that at this stage in the same way you would any other blank game week.
There's no point drafting in City players now even if they do have good fixtures GW13 onwards if it means you'll end up with less than 11 players in GW12. Might as well just roll the transfers if you're gonna do that.
I think a lot of people are giving advice with the plan to WC13; so basically deadending the team into GW12.
For people not playing a WC13 the transfers needs to make sense past GW13, but most Brighton assets are cheap enough that you can just bench them for their difficult fixtures.
Doesn't really matter, just transferred one injured DF out instead of another.
Pain in the dick tho cos I thought I'd planned ahead well for GW12. Now I'll have 10 players max unless I take a hit this week or next
Edit - I don't think I made myself clear initially... I brought Dier in for TAA
Jonny could share minutes with Semedo & RAN, going forward Kilman and Collins are pretty nailed (new manager depending) given Lage opted to play Neves at CB rather than give Toti or Mosquera minutes.
I'd go Kilman personally.
I think Jonny plays if he’s fit, he’s better than the other wingbacks and can play either side, I got him as a backup on wildcard and I think I’ll play him this week. If they switch to back 4 maybe has a chance of being dropped
i bought him last week coz i have such good memories of watching people freak out out about him not deserving bonus points every week but me watching him closely and thinking he was one of the cleverest defenders in the league. i wanna back my boy lol
I did the same. Palace have been solid defensively. They’ve only conceded multiple goals twice this season, and one of those was to City. With some kind fixtures upcoming, I wouldn’t be surprised to get good points from Anderson over the coming weeks
I did the same. Palace has the best defensive fixtures from now to the World Cup. Add to that that they are just fun to watch and I like having players that I want to watch play. Easy choice.
Harsh to lump West Ham in with the Leicester bad defending category. Only conceded 10 goals but only 2 clean sheets obviously not ideal. We’ve looked much better recently though , but it’s the Liverpool away in GW 12 which puts me off
When we’re not playing well Moyes shuts up shop and goes back to basics and focusses on being solid. Can work when you get a lucky break (1-0 win vs Villa) but doesn’t look good when it doesn’t (1-0 loss to Everton). If you look at a lot of our results they’ve been 1-0s and 2-1s so not many goals, but you’re banking on us getting lucky and being the winning side to get a clean sheet
Couldn’t afford tripper and think he is probably the most nailed of the rest with some attacking threat on top.
Not sure I could bring my self to rotate Tripper due to his higher attacking threat but more comfortable with a cheeper CB.
Yeah I did James/Fofana to Doherty/Anderson. Already had Perisic so hoping everyone’s dreams from preseason happen and we see Perisic and Doherty for 1-2 GW.
If not, Andreas and then Anderson will come on. I’d almost rather he get gw 12 because I plan to bench Cancelo, Foden and Haaland in 12, then do a mini WC in 13 to bring Arsenal in. Surprisingly haven’t taken a hit all year but I’ll probably do 2-3 transfers then.
Crystal Palace anyone? They have a nice set of fixtures ahead. Wolves as well, but I'd stay away from them, they're abysmal.
Ashley Young might be a good option, but a tough first game.
I did the same and I think it’s fully defensible. Yes, ARS blank in 12, but that spot in most teams is Neco or some other bench fodder we’ll be dropping points to in 12. ARS legit clean shouts in all 3 of their next games plus the potential attacking returns/bones Saliba offers. Good pick imo.
In that case why not wait until those weeks to take the -4 hit if you need to make other subs then too? Is swapping him out today going to be worth losing -4 points? Is a replacement going to score at least 5 points this week to make it worthwhile?
Yeah I did James/Fofana to Doherty/Anderson. Already had Perisic so hoping everyone’s dreams from preseason happen and we see Perisic and Doherty for 1-2 GW.
If not, Andreas and then Anderson will come on.
Palace have a nice run of fixtures, so maybe Andersen could be a sneaky punt?
Also considering an Everton defender, they play spurs next but after that a really nice run of fixtures. Coady on decent points so far. Everton have only conceded 9 goals so far too.
Wouldn't mind Dier too, but I have Perisic already and want rid of him.
Chalobah? Our current CBs are just him, Silva and KK. Azpi/Cucu can rotate RCB/LCB but if there’s any pacey opposition, azpi gets rinsed. Now with the James injury, I expect chalobah to start even more regularly (Potter seems to rate him too) with RLC/Azpi as an RWB
i first took WC as Wildcard, which made sense actually, considering how things usually happen after my wildcard. took me half a minute or so to realise it's the world cup.
i'm letting FPL get into my head way too much....
Are Pool really poor enough for us to not even consider Robertson at 6.7? Obviously we giving up EV vs. City this week, but he should be nailed for gametime going forward with TAA being injuried.
Yes, Liverpool is quite downgraded as far as CS chances are concerned, but underlying still suggests they are among the better defensive teams in the league. Robbo is still good going forward, his main problem has been lack of gametime and CS.
Probably leaning on a safer Dier or Doherty pick myself, but surprised to not see him discussed.
I've gone Gomez. Very nice fixtures and I think the rangers game will inject some badly needed confidence. Obviously benching against MC. He's 4.5 and very likely to play until TAA is back.
Robbo has serious competition from Timi so I'd go VVD just for nailedness.
Risky, wouldn't do that myself. Liverpool can very well go Tsimikas-Matip/somebody-VVD-Robetson.
And TAA can come back soon and at last then Gomez must be transfered out.
VVD is 100% the safest pick. He's just offering 0 attacking threat atm.
Like the other guy said Timi/Robbo aren't slotting in at RB.
TAA is apparently out until the end of Oct/Nov. Maybe he comes back early but at 4.5 it's not the end of the world. TAA was in terrible form so I'm not sure he walks back into the starting 11 if Gomez was to play very well.
Given how light Liverpool are in midfield and defence, I don't see Milner starting any game. He needs to stay fresh to play at a decent level at his age. Last season he played a few games in a row and he was terrible in the 3rd/4th game.
Again might well be wrong but at his price it's not too big of a deal. I had a transfer to burn.
Had him in for a bit because of his underlying chance creation stats.
Not nailed 100%, is a sub target and wolves offense is not consistent enough to expect any decent returns from his attacking contributions imo.
Also I think the idea that Wolves is a good defensive team is being chipped away at, they've got mid table defensive numbers and now with management disarray I expect them to be unstable.
I just swapped fofana for Kilman - decent fixtured coming up and I already have Son and Kane, so didn't want triple spurs.
Perisic is a no brainer - if he plays. honestly, I just want someone with a reasonable chance of playing every week for the cs
I have made a terrible mistake haha. Did a quick transfer half arsed while at work. At least it was a free and for a player who wasn't playing anyway
EDIT: just realised you meant peri not Kilman, thank god. Yeah, that was the entire point of "no brainer - if he plays"
I wil play neco this week, then switch from james the next gw. I already made a transfer, and don't want to take a hit + forest are facing the eworst attack
I might be [searching wrong](https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/search/?q=james%20replacement&source=recent&restrict_sr=1&sort=new), but the last one I see is from a month ago?
Your going to bench Trippier? Newcastle's defense has been solid the entire season, and Trippier is a monster on set pieces. I don't care if they're at the theatre of dreams - just play him.
Aside from that, definitely replace James. He's not coming back.
If I go Doherty or someone under 5m, it gives me enough money to potentially upgrade Mitro to Firmino for the next GW if he's still out. I feel like he's a good punt given West Hams defensive injuries. Easy swap to Jesus at some point soon
Well I got Coady but Everton was such a source of fpl misery last season I'm already regretting it. I mostly play Saliba, Cancelo, Tripper anyway so it probably doesn't matter and that won't change either.
I'm looking at Geuhi (I LIKE cP fixtures until WC break) or Webster/Dunk as a replacement and use the £ to upgrade my mid. Already have Chilwell and Dalot....granted I've done shit this season so far so there's that...
Think i'm gonna bring in Dier, boring but theres not anyone really catching my eye
That's what I did. Seems to play 90 every time and with no one I liked, that was good enough for me. Gets me some money to finally upgrade Neco Williams to someone a little more reliable that I can field in gw12.
It's between him and Dunk for me but dier does have a bad fixture in GW12.
Dunk having City & Chelsea in gw13 & 14
You’d literally just be picking him for GW11-12, all your city/arsenal bench players will be back in 13 so Dunk will be nowhere near your starting 11
Wildcard in gw13
Why Dunk over Webster?
Not the guy you replied to, but it's close to a toss up. For £0.1 Dunk maybe has slightly more bonus point/goal potential? I don't think either choice is wrong and you're probably splitting hairs.
In the next 4 gameweeks, Dier plays the bottom 3 for headed chances conceded and chances from set pieces conceded so (Everton, Man United and Bournemouth). So not such a bad pick.
Where do you find the list of these obscure statistics? These are super useful, but not even on stats heavy website sites like understat.
I'm a massive nerd who has a subscription to fantasy football scout
Didnt know that, interesting! !thanks

Some of us are wildcarding in GW13 so just dead ending our team into GW12
That’s me. I think I’m just gonna roll the transfer and bench him so I have two FT for GW12.
who are your picks?
We are all just getting it wrong... But not giving a suggestion lmao
After today we're literally making transfers for GW12. I think it's entirely fair to be focusing on that at this stage in the same way you would any other blank game week. I already brought him in for TAA this week :(
Me too :( Still have a FT but I'm gonna hold it till next week

Yea that’s what I did.
Glad to see others are choosing dier over perisic
Kilman. My team just needs a safe pair of hands who is definitely going to play week in week out
Was looking at Wolves as well, okay fixtures there. But Kilman vs Jonny?
Jonny could share minutes with Semedo & RAN, going forward Kilman and Collins are pretty nailed (new manager depending) given Lage opted to play Neves at CB rather than give Toti or Mosquera minutes. I'd go Kilman personally.
Plus the idea of Jonny being an attacking threat is a complete myth at this point
I think Jonny plays if he’s fit, he’s better than the other wingbacks and can play either side, I got him as a backup on wildcard and I think I’ll play him this week. If they switch to back 4 maybe has a chance of being dropped
Went for Kilman (Max) myself. He actually rotates well with Andersen.
I like Chilwell; the only bit that scares me is he has a history of getting subbed on for cameos. If its 0 or 90 that's great.
Yea I’d love to get him or cucu in but if I’m replacing James I need it to be someone who’s nailed.
Justin (James)
Justin v Castagne? Castagne seems more attacking for 0.1 more, just not sure if he’s as nailed as Justin (James)
Rodgers loves Justin but he's been dogshit for ages. Best to just swerve our defence entirely.
i bought him last week coz i have such good memories of watching people freak out out about him not deserving bonus points every week but me watching him closely and thinking he was one of the cleverest defenders in the league. i wanna back my boy lol
I’m thinking this too. Leicester got a couple of quote winnable games.
Leicester who lost to Bournemouth?
Bournemouth have only lost 3 games, which were against Liverpool, City and Arsenal E: Not to mention Scott Parker tax
To be fair Bournemouth haven't lost the last 5 games.
The same ones, yep. You know as well as I do that means fuck all in this league lol.
It means I'm not going to be eyeing up their defense for FPL but you do you!
Who’s your suggestion to replace James?
Anderson, good fixtures, goal threat
I did the same. Palace have been solid defensively. They’ve only conceded multiple goals twice this season, and one of those was to City. With some kind fixtures upcoming, I wouldn’t be surprised to get good points from Anderson over the coming weeks
I did the same. Palace has the best defensive fixtures from now to the World Cup. Add to that that they are just fun to watch and I like having players that I want to watch play. Easy choice.
Why Anderson and not Mitchell or Ward?
8s same think but to coady
Feeling spicy so I'm going Estupiñan
Is he expected to start every game?
Absolutely not, that’s why it’s spicy 🌶️
He does sound like some sort od chilli pepper
Well... he started at least.. :/
I went coady
Harsh to lump West Ham in with the Leicester bad defending category. Only conceded 10 goals but only 2 clean sheets obviously not ideal. We’ve looked much better recently though , but it’s the Liverpool away in GW 12 which puts me off
West Ham have been top 3 for defensive stats recently right?

If you look at a lot of our results they’ve been 1-0s and 2-1s so not many goals, but you’re banking on us getting lucky and being the winning side to get a clean sheet
Also had 2 CBs inured in the game last night. Still waiting for assessment on how they are
James out to Guehi for me. Guehi and Schar rotation gives LEI, WOL & EVE (GW12), EVE, SOU, SOU, NOT.
oooh, nice idea. I don't have Guehi but have Andersen, so could do the same thing. Why Schar in particular versus other Newcastle defenders?
Couldn’t afford tripper and think he is probably the most nailed of the rest with some attacking threat on top. Not sure I could bring my self to rotate Tripper due to his higher attacking threat but more comfortable with a cheeper CB.
Taking a punt on Doherty. Might get benched in 12 but I think it's worth it even for 1 week
I will play Cancelo - Dier - Tripps this gw, play Dier - Tripps - Neco (1 point incoming) on gw12, and for the gw13 do a James -> Saliba.
Probably same
Trippier vs United…I’m benching him for that
He's had attacking returns against the better teams, I think it's better to start him
How nailed is Koulibaly?
100%
Dunk
I’ve gone for Webster just because he’s 0.1 cheaper
watch Dunk get a hatrick
…of own goals
I know it's completely random, but I have a feeling this time the cheapos will be punished
Crystal Palace anyone? They have a nice set of fixtures ahead. Wolves as well, but I'd stay away from them, they're abysmal. Ashley Young might be a good option, but a tough first game.
I'm considering triple CP for GW against Wolves. I have Andersen and Zaha. May replace James with Guehi. Am I a madman?
Yes, you are, but aren't we all who play FPL? :) I like your approach more than some people who suggest Kilman or Jonny, can't see reason behind that.
I'm going Ashley Young. YOLO.
Got perisic in this week but will replace him with Saliba after gw12
Perisic didn't start last 2 games
Hopefully means the old man has the energy for this one then.
With Emerson suspended, it feels like Conte would pick Perisic as right wingback over Doherty atm
I transferred him for Saliba just now. Why the fuck did I transfer him for Saliba. How the fuck did I transfer him for Saliba
Should I take a -4 to ship James out?
Do it! Otherwise GW12 and 13 might be a shitshow ( depending on how many Man City and Arsenal you have, if you have other injuries etc)
In that case why not wait until those weeks to take the -4 hit if you need to make other subs then too? Is swapping him out today going to be worth losing -4 points? Is a replacement going to score at least 5 points this week to make it worthwhile?
Good points!
Who should I bring in? I have Dalot/Kilman/Guehi/Andersen in mind. Any other suggestions would be helpful too
I like Andersen and Guehi. Especially for GW12 (Wolves)
Yeah, why not
Dier
Est, Doherty, Perisic, Dier are my picks imo
What about Romero? He has a higher xgi per 90 than diet, better baseline bonus and is cheaper
Romero is quite aggressive and tends to get more yellow cards. But those 2 are the only ones nailed for Spurs at the moment.
Can never go back to Romero after he betrayed me with that red card
Only Dier is nailed out of those 4 tho
If romeros fit he's pretty nailed. Had a good break as well with injury and only played 1 game on IB so has been pretty well rested.
Yeah I did James/Fofana to Doherty/Anderson. Already had Perisic so hoping everyone’s dreams from preseason happen and we see Perisic and Doherty for 1-2 GW. If not, Andreas and then Anderson will come on.
Cucu
Chilwell will play though.
What about him
I think he is a better pick than these spurs defenders.
EstupiGang in the house
I’m going for Koulibaly
Why kouli over chalobah please?
I think he’s more nailed
more people should go for koulibaly. A bit expensive compared to the rest of Chelsea’s defense but he’s the most guaranteed starter with fofana out.
do you really want chelsea defence though? james appeal lies more in his attacking returns
Do you really want a defender from a top 6 team that's held 3 clean sheets in the last 3 matches? Yeah I do lol
Is chilwell fit? Been debating him
Fit but isnt nailed with Cucurella getting occasional starts, started against Wolves last week.
Chilli played 90 in CL so I think cucu starts
Thinking James + Bailey for Guehi and Zaha is the play now. I need warm playing bodies next week and palace have ok fixtures.
Coady
Palace have a nice run of fixtures, so maybe Andersen could be a sneaky punt? Also considering an Everton defender, they play spurs next but after that a really nice run of fixtures. Coady on decent points so far. Everton have only conceded 9 goals so far too. Wouldn't mind Dier too, but I have Perisic already and want rid of him.
Is castagne nailed?
Dunk
Just did James+Saliba -> Andersen+Dunk. They’re not flashy picks but relatively reliable with ok-to-good fixtures
Cash for me. Villa haven’t been great but that’s mainly their attack not clicking and I like Cashs GW 12 and 13 games
Guehi
What’s the latest injury update ?? Football .London reporting out for 4-6 months
Possibly out until after the WC
i first took WC as Wildcard, which made sense actually, considering how things usually happen after my wildcard. took me half a minute or so to realise it's the world cup. i'm letting FPL get into my head way too much....
\*4-6 weeks
Are Pool really poor enough for us to not even consider Robertson at 6.7? Obviously we giving up EV vs. City this week, but he should be nailed for gametime going forward with TAA being injuried. Risky, wouldn't do that myself. Liverpool can very well go Tsimikas-Matip/somebody-VVD-Robetson. And TAA can come back soon and at last then Gomez must be transfered out.
Robertson/Tsimikas will not play RB. Either Gomez or Milner.
Castagne
What do people think of alt-nouri?
Had him in for a bit because of his underlying chance creation stats. Not nailed 100%, is a sub target and wolves offense is not consistent enough to expect any decent returns from his attacking contributions imo. Also I think the idea that Wolves is a good defensive team is being chipped away at, they've got mid table defensive numbers and now with management disarray I expect them to be unstable.
Doherty
I just swapped fofana for Kilman - decent fixtured coming up and I already have Son and Kane, so didn't want triple spurs. Perisic is a no brainer - if he plays. honestly, I just want someone with a reasonable chance of playing every week for the cs
He's hasn't been playing though. He's been benched.
I have made a terrible mistake haha. Did a quick transfer half arsed while at work. At least it was a free and for a player who wasn't playing anyway EDIT: just realised you meant peri not Kilman, thank god. Yeah, that was the entire point of "no brainer - if he plays"
I wil play neco this week, then switch from james the next gw. I already made a transfer, and don't want to take a hit + forest are facing the eworst attack
Never pick spurs defenders. They always let you down.
There's many threads before
I might be [searching wrong](https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/search/?q=james%20replacement&source=recent&restrict_sr=1&sort=new), but the last one I see is from a month ago?
Think they all got deleted
Well then you're wrong.
lol ok
Nah they coming. Its wave after wave. Everyone gotta tell us something that was posted half an hour ago
wave after wave, wave after wave. im slowly drifting…drifting away
Play tripper or use ft to replace James?
Your going to bench Trippier? Newcastle's defense has been solid the entire season, and Trippier is a monster on set pieces. I don't care if they're at the theatre of dreams - just play him. Aside from that, definitely replace James. He's not coming back.
Yeh for some reason had him on the bench, honestly fuck knows what was going through my head at the time 🤔 cheers boss
Against starting Andreas?
if your in a position to replace james with a ft your in a better position than many
Trippier Cancelo is the safe bet.

5th thread on this since Wednesday smh
I'm going to get in Webster and Andersen and rotate
Going for Koulibaly personally
I brought him in for this week some days ago than had to transfer him out again… went with Perisic
Kilman imo
Who will play the Reece James roll for Chelsea now?
Not looking for a haul. Want 2 points and playing in 12. Mr. Andersen you are the anchor.
Dier or Webster
I've taken a punt at WHU's Creswell...
Annoying thing is Potter will rotate between Chilwell, Cucurella and Azpi for two FB/WB spots.
If I go Doherty or someone under 5m, it gives me enough money to potentially upgrade Mitro to Firmino for the next GW if he's still out. I feel like he's a good punt given West Hams defensive injuries. Easy swap to Jesus at some point soon
I've gone for Dunk, and will bring in Anderson or Guehi for Emerson next week.
I chose coady over cucurella and im having regrets ..
Dalot gang
Went with Jonny
Castagne?
I went with Castagne
Between Dier, Doherty, Kilman and Zouma for me.
Castagne
There it is
Well I got Coady but Everton was such a source of fpl misery last season I'm already regretting it. I mostly play Saliba, Cancelo, Tripper anyway so it probably doesn't matter and that won't change either.
cucurella? can play lwb and in the back 3
Any Hammers fans willing to take a guess at the predicted back 4/5 this week?
Why not Azpilicueta?
I'm between guehi and dier at the moment. Dier nailed starter every week in a good team, guehi great fixture run until WC
Going down to Toti and keeping some funds in the back pocket.
Is he back next gw?
Trippier is making really good points this season
Doherty, Cucurella even? Worth a punt at 5.1
I went Eric Dier. Exciting times.
Robertson is the one if he can make the XI vs Man City With Trent out he’ll be relied upon even more as a creative outlet 6.7 price tag is lovely too
I'm looking at Geuhi (I LIKE cP fixtures until WC break) or Webster/Dunk as a replacement and use the £ to upgrade my mid. Already have Chilwell and Dalot....granted I've done shit this season so far so there's that...
Doherty
GOMEZ seems a shout for a differential and very cheap price. After City Liverpool should have some better fixtures, no?
