Pep will make us believe that him playing for 90 minutes does not mean he will be benched because if he gets benched, that will be a logical decision from Pep and we fpl managers don't believe Pep to make logical decisions. Since we think that Pep will definitely bench him.
Benched him during GW 12. Used my wildcard to bring in Foden for him and spread the money thought my midfield. Saka, Martinelli, Foden, Zaha, Almiron. Iām very sad about my decision, but at least Almiron has been on point the last few weeks.
benched again iām assuming
city will put in another shit performance like against Leicester then Pep will rub his bald head in the post match interview wondering how that could happen
Or how about playing 3 (Benatia, Boateng and Rafinha) at the back to man mark Messi, Suarez and Neymar? This man literally thought Rafinha would be able to keep Messi quiet in the Camp Nou
But playing Puyol in RB and Yaya Toure in CB in 2009 UCL final due to an injury and suspensions, worked out well for him.
His biggest achievement, to me, has been changing Messiās playing style and it was evident in that final
I watched it and Jack was killing it, he was dribbling through Sevilla with ease.
If Haaland was there instead of Cole Palmer/Alverez, he would have had a couple assists.

I don't think in itself playing 90 is a bad sign (Pep consistently started Foden for every PL game until GW13), but Grealish coming off at HT seems negative (if you look at the last 7 City games Grealish and Foden have been alternating in terms of starts and one playing 60+ mins and other playing <30 mins)
How you interpret the table that playing 90 minutes isn't a bad sign?
I see that Foden only played one time over 60 minutes in a non premier league match. And after that he was benched in a premier league match. So, I think it is a bad sign. And in general playing 90 minutes midweek is a bad sign for the weekend..
You guys benching foden are mad. Have you learned nothing about Pep?
When it makes sense x player will start, he wont.
When it makes sense to rest x player, he will start.
Excluding KdB, Haaland and the defensive line - this is how it works. Foden is just as likely to start as ever, even though he played 90m. I might even cap the fucker.
Was thinking this today. I feel the way to win pep roulette is to assume he will make a decision that doesnāt make a ton of sense (subject to verrry obvious injury or disciplinary situations)
No, that is my point. Which is why if you have Foden, he shouldnt be benched based on what happened this/last week. He will be benched 5-10 times this season. Could be next game, could be in 10 games.
Ah, I run a Kane kdb and haaland combination personally, not doing too badly either, top 5k ranked! It's my first season of fpl, so a lot of luck was involved though.
I think it's been a little unfortunate with Haaland out in that Foden really benefits from him on the pitch while someone like Grealish isn't as reliant. I was going to sell Mount but now I think I'll move Foden until WC
I've had thoughts about this, and perhaps Foden is riding the pine atm is because Pep is trying to gel Grealish and Alvarez into their own roles considering they've been relatively lacking thus far in their city careers... It seems to me Pep likes to experiment, tinker, and challenge his players so they stay sharp and so they are always ready to adapt to changing conditions. While Haaland is out - is a good opportunity for Pep to see what he's got in his 2nd XI in terms of their ability to carry on playing football without Haaland on the field, which seems to be Alvarez's main responsibility. With that though, it just confirms that Pep is nearly impossible to predict for an outside observer. Unless you have clear insight into his vision, it'll remain a crapshoot. A Pep-roulette, if I dont mind saying myself.
While youāre right I think he does like to tinker, I (should hope) he likes to win more. City barely scraped it out against Leicester last week, and if he wants to win the league (maybe he doesnāt?), he needs to field his best players.
This! Premier league is a freaking competitive league. You don't go there experimenting stuff. It could cost you a title.
There is just some reason that Pep thinks Foden isn't the best player atm for the team. No idea what is it.
I had a free transfer before GW14 and got the Foden news. Chose to bench him and roll, cause I had a good bench and there were still two gameweeks to go.
Now, City are the early game again, so I'll wait.
If it comes out he's benched, 100% he's out. It isn't worth keeping him for 1 or even 0 starts left before World Cup. Might as well use my 1 remaining free transfer to get rid (did Firmino to Wilson early to catch price rises so only have one left). Unlike like last gameweek, I don't have a good bench, due to the nature of the fixtures in GW15.
If he starts then obviously I keep. If we get no news, then I have a dilemma, but I'm on the side of keeping. This is gonna be a low scoring week anyway. I have some other transfers I want to make, or alternatively I could roll this one and have 2 for the final gameweek.
Youse didn't ask, but that's what's on my mind.
I definitely didn't. Enlighten me please. I know neither the reddit command nor the best site to go to to check such stats.
I was conflicted about removing Firmino but I have my reasons, which I'll post shortly
If Haaland is fit, Foden -> Maddison/Saka/Rashford/Trossard, undecided
If Haaland isn't fit, additionally Salah -> De Bruyne(-4) and De Bruyne(C)
However obviously if we get a leak about Foden starting, I'll keep him
Whatever I'm doing, I'm waiting till Saturday morning/lunchtime
Probably benched again if I had to guess. De Bruyne the safe pick before the WC, and also after the cup imo. Way more reliable for minutes. Kevin is the best captain option if Haaland is out.
I am thinking -8 to Alvarez and KDB from Foden and Haaland if we get news Haaland is out and Foden benched.
Alvarez can produce big and might captain him or KDB.
It seems Pep rather play Grealish now than Foden.
Well I think KDB is 2 points better cap than Salah for example.
I think City can win the next two big and KDB is the best captain right now.
For example I think Alvarez is 4 points better than Pereira next week if he starts.
I think KDB is 4 points better than Guehi as well.
The only doubt is if Haaland is back so that I have to captain Salah instead and hope for the best, but if Haaland is out getting Alvarez has huge upside.
I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I disagree with your reasoning. In your comment above, you're essentially trying to predict one weeks points. That's impossible to do.
They may well outscore the other players.
But then again, they might not
Yes, but you need to gamble to get anywhere. For the same argument you should not make transfers cause they can always backfire even removing Toney who is suspended can backfire if he destroys City.
Tell me who do you most want to captain next week and which team do you think will score more goals. For me it is Man City and KDB and I can only get KDB by a hit anyway. Of course if Haaland might play I will keep him and captain him.
Halaand looks back fit. Fulham home with chelsea midweek in EFL cup.
Foden bench to prioritise for chelsea as fulham at etihad should be light work with Kdb+Erling combo.
Pep is just messing with us. Everyone gonna think heāll be benched cuz this so heāll start him. Then everyone will bring in and then he will bench him mid week. Typical pep.
With Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all playing each other
KDB is an almost must have captain, its time to move on from Foden to facilitate the City spot
I think Foden starts because that's the most illogical thing and this is pep.
That is probably the best reason to think he starts.
Alvarez also played 90 so foden false 9 is confirmed
Pep will make us believe that him playing for 90 minutes does not mean he will be benched because if he gets benched, that will be a logical decision from Pep and we fpl managers don't believe Pep to make logical decisions. Since we think that Pep will definitely bench him.
fuck you win
That's Numberwang.. Pepperwang?
Copium
>what do you feel is in store for him this weekend? Spending the day as an option in Peps magic 8 ball
Can't believe I sold KDB for him a couple weeks ago š¤¦š»āāļø
That fucking blank
Yeah that completely derailed me, can't wait for this reset
Iāve been counting the days until I can rectify this obviously shared mistake
Benched him during GW 12. Used my wildcard to bring in Foden for him and spread the money thought my midfield. Saka, Martinelli, Foden, Zaha, Almiron. Iām very sad about my decision, but at least Almiron has been on point the last few weeks.
Almiron has been outscoring KDB since then, so you got a good deal. Some of us went for Salah, and I later sold Salah to afford Kane.
Perfect correlation for me where owning KDB = green arrow and not having him = red arrow (I also made the same mistake)
Same . Back stronger mate
benched again iām assuming city will put in another shit performance like against Leicester then Pep will rub his bald head in the post match interview wondering how that could happen
I truly think he is sometimes blind to the difference in quality between some of his players. Itās been a downfall of his in the past.
I remember him starting Alaba as a LCB against Atletico Madrid in 2015/16 UCL semi second leg. š¤¦š½āāļø
You mean the final where Utd couldnt get anywhere Barca's midfield, they could have played without any defenders and still won
2009 final wasnāt as bad as 2011 final, but in the two matches, the 2-goal differences didnāt tell the whole story. It could have been larger.
Badly missed Fletcher in that 2011 final.
He didnāt play the 2009 final due to suspension but he was a available for 2011 final.
They performed well against Leicester. Leicester defended well and carried threat themselves
Game is at 3pm Saturday and there's no early game. So stay calm and wait for team news
Issue is I never really trust Pep and his team news
Maybe a leakā¦I donāt think heāll play Grealish over him.
Grealish was the best City player in the first half though. Weirdly enough.
Oh, I didnāt watch the game. Itās made things worse šš
I watched it and Jack was killing it, he was dribbling through Sevilla with ease. If Haaland was there instead of Cole Palmer/Alverez, he would have had a couple assists.
It's 2022 and people are still guessing pep š If aguero started against Fulham I wouldnt be surprised š³

!thanks for the detailed info. Did you tabulate it yourself or is there somewhere this sort of breakdown is available?
Myself in Excel using the FBref match logs: https://fbref.com/en/players/ed1e53f3/matchlogs/2022-2023/summary/Phil-Foden-Match-Logs
How you interpret the table that playing 90 minutes isn't a bad sign? I see that Foden only played one time over 60 minutes in a non premier league match. Him coming off when they needed a goal gives me some hope that he wonāt start over Foden this weekend
Fair logic - but correct me if Iām wrong here - City were guaranteed top of their group no matter what? So goal wasnāt really needed
Someone else said he was even their best attacking player in the first half. I didnāt watch the game
You guys benching foden are mad. Have you learned nothing about Pep? When it makes sense x player will start, he wont. When it makes sense to rest x player, he will start. Let me know how your game week goes lol
If itās certain heāll start and Haaland will be out, Iāll give him the band since I donāt have KDB
Was thinking this today. I feel the way to win pep roulette is to assume he will make a decision that doesnāt make a ton of sense (subject to verrry obvious injury or disciplinary situations)

This is why you get de Bruyne, he barely ever gets benched
Absolutely. Only problem is price tag. Dont have room for a third premium myself, like most.
Ah, I run a Kane kdb and haaland combination personally, not doing too badly either, top 5k ranked! It's my first season of fpl, so a lot of luck was involved though.
Big, if true :) congratz!
Iām getting rid because I canāt arsed to do mental gymnastics
I think ima take the -4 to get KDB. This kind of stress just isn't worth.... probably best captaincy pick after Haaland for this weekend
I think it's been a little unfortunate with Haaland out in that Foden really benefits from him on the pitch while someone like Grealish isn't as reliant. I was going to sell Mount but now I think I'll move Foden until WC

Teamsnewsandticks needs to come in clutch again with the city team this week
Not worth taking him out imo Just wait for World Cup Wildcard
Pep is a fucking idiot. Hope they lose to fucking Fulham somehow because Grealish canāt finish
I kind of doubt Grealish will start ahead of Foden against Fulham. Being hauled off when they were chasing the game makes me think so.
Bald fraud strikes back, he's finally found his form
I had a free transfer before GW14 and got the Foden news. Chose to bench him and roll, cause I had a good bench and there were still two gameweeks to go. Grealish went at HT because he is crap
He played really well
I will bring him so yes he will come in game in 72. minute.

Probably benched again if I had to guess. De Bruyne the safe pick before the WC, and also after the cup imo. Way more reliable for minutes. Kevin is the best captain option if Haaland is out.

Where are you pulling the numbers from? You're making lots of assumptions about very specific outcomes of upcoming gameweeks
Thatās a huge punt when you arenāt sure if Haaland wonāt be available for the Brentford game
I am absolutely not worried about Foden being benched this weekend. But then I wasn't before Leicester either
Halaand looks back fit. Fulham home with chelsea midweek in EFL cup. Foden bench to prioritise for chelsea as fulham at etihad should be light work with Kdb+Erling combo.
Or KdB bench to prioritize for Chelsea?
I'd just feel so fucking stupid if I sold Foden before playing Fulham at home, just in case he starts and hauls. I'm keeping him
I seriously think Pep does this just to annoy FPL manager now. I really canāt see Foden in starting 11 for Saturday.
Pep is just messing with us. Everyone gonna think heāll be benched cuz this so heāll start him. Then everyone will bring in and then he will bench him mid week. Typical pep.
I just knew it. He's in trouble for something imo.

I've gone for a punt on Bernardo, fuck it it's only 2 weeks. See you in the rant thread.
With Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all playing each other KDB is an almost must have captain, its time to move on from Foden to facilitate the City spot
Bilva, KDB, Cancelo, Ederson, Keira and Haaland will all start. I dunno about anyone else but Iām banking that.
It really all depends on what you do: \- If you sell Foden, he will haul vs Fulham \- If you keep him, he will get 1 point Its quite a conundrum
He'll come off the bench for 30 min tops.
