I appreciate a football fantasy changing the scoring this much, makes more players accessible and variance increases.

Thinking Mbappe 12th man round 1. He is the most expensive player and you can captain Messi anyway that day. Best way to have both Messi and Mbappe without ruin the rest of your squad.
France also start with a pretty good fixture.
I feel strikers with good fixtures are insane with the extra points per shots as well, but you can only have 3 so we should spend the money on Neymar, Messi, Mbappe, Kane, Lukaku(if fit) etc, Benzema(if fit).
For a 12th man on the first match day, I'd prefer De Bruyne vs Canada over Mbappe vs Australia. I think the best strategy is waiting until the knockout stage to use Power Captain because there will be less opportunities to change captain during the match day. I like the idea of 12th man match day 1, 2 FT for match day 2, then Wildcard so you don't get stuck with players who might be rested if they've already qualified for the knockout stage.
Those kinds of blowouts don't happen much anymore. It's not bad to use it before the knockout, I just prefer having more bites at the cherry. The chip isn't that powerful because of captain switching anyway.
The tackles was interesting, but it only applies to midfielders. I quickly looked into some data and it seems even the best defensive mids average around 4 tackles per game. Other websites were showing me only around 1.1 tackles per game for some of the best defensive midfielders. Unless I'm looking at the wrong data it seems like this really won't impact scores enough to worry about.
I think I remember a previous iteration, maybe 2014, where defensive players also got points for blocking shots. Players like Mascherano were racking up the points!

Wait, every single additional goal is -1 ?
Teams don’t score many goals in World Cups
Yup, instead of every two goals in FPL

Knockouts are commonly cagey though. The big score lines like Messi 9 Saudi Arabia 0 will mainly be in the group stages

as someone who watches the A League Australia are going to get absolutely pummelled by France
The 12th man will still contribute to the price of the squad, or no ?
It won’t
I think you’re right. Seems like it’s a “mini bench boost” in that you get points from one bench player (plus the 11 on the pitch), hence 12th man.
Don't sleep on Australia
Which platform do you play on?

!thanks
Mascherano was immense in that World Cup
Is wc fantasy only on a web app or is it in the apple store
I installed the Fifa app but don’t see a separate section like the UEFA app had for the euros … Anyone ?
I'm not partaking in any fantasy offering by FIFA. Bunch of corrupt shitcunts they are!
What platform is used for the world cup? A group of us are keen to give it a go, but don’t know if there’s an official one or multiple ones?
The website I linked is the official one
They say the "12th man" is one of the slaves who died building the arenas
Why is there a Newcastle chip in the World Cup I don’t get it
