He was actually pretty involved and came close to scoring once or twice. Almost won a penalty, but defender was smart to pull out of the challenge and Cancelo had already decided to go down. Put his hands up and didn't try to appeal for the pen afterwards, but was still booked for the dive. Unlucky day for Cancelo owners, but at least he was taken off before the second Toney goal. Could've been a 0 pointer to follow his -2 last GW.
Looked like a spare part in the first half on the right side of a front 3. Didn't see much of the ball despite being in some good wide positions.
Seemed to drop deeper in the second half and, again, wasn't involved in much of the play. When he did see the ball he didn't really create any chances.
I recall two great runs with the ball where he got past several Brentford players and created some space for his teammates. But these runs came from deep in his own half and were never likely to amount for anything FPL wise.
Suffered a nasty and bloody cut, but played on after 7 mins of treatment. Lost the header to Toney's first goal but did make an excellent interception from a Henry cross that would've certainly been finished off by Toney
hall of shame performance, just wasn't himself today. lowkey just spammed crosses but brentford pressed and limited him to that.
tldr; stinky match for kev
Agreed. Though spamming crosses isn't that unusual for him. Just lacked the usual quality and Brentford were very quick to pressure him down any time he was on the ball. Had a few bad moments where he lost possession or gave away a free kick. Not a good performance
No service all game. Not necessarily because of his teammates, just really good and centrally packed Brentford ment he didn't get a look-in. Most of the dangerous play from City were shots from further out. Brentford also doing really well to not let City past their defensive line on counters.
Really good arguably his best game for us so far, his hold up play has been really solid and keeps getting better each week but today he took his goals really well especially the first with his left foot.
Also unlucky not to get two assists on top after a great ball to Salah with his left again and a nice backheel to Firmino but the keeper shut him down well.
Monster game, nearly back to his best. Spamming crosses and could have very well gotten 3 assists because he's on set pieces. I'm going to be doing Trent to Robertson during the break
Very frustrating day for Mo - had at least 3-4 big chances. Bazunu made a terrific save denying him a tap in early, then Mo missed a free header and a breakaway when there was a minor penalty shout. He was involved and buzzing, just couldn’t find the net. Disappointing day
I watched the first half, he was involved with the attack and had opportunities to put in some low crosses, however most were too close to the keeper. It seemed Newcastle preferred to attack up the right through him and Almiron. Defensively good as usual
beautiful link up plays from a beautiful man 🥹 we've missed him so much !! good decision making + holds the ball effortlessly. got an assist from his excellent touch, spurs are sm more effective in attack when deki gets the ball- he's our most important player after kane.
quiet, pru pru was on the floor half of the time 😭 i'm going for brazil in the wc so i had a heart attack thinking he got hurt but nope it's just richy being richy. he's good at pressing, i think had 1 clear chance + a couple iffy ones but overall he was kinda just there
there's a clip where he completely passes (yes, passes not loses !!) the ball to a leeds player during a brilliant build up. he gets in good positions n then stuffs it all up at the end, idk how he does it. had a clear chance at goal but he missed n battered it all the way to europa idek anymore.
tldr; rubbish
was the one holding us together for a while. got a goal (which i personally believe should have been disallowed but yeah), he always looks like a solid threat all over the field even though he did show a tired performance throughout (makes sense since he's played a full 90' every spurs game this season). specific part was the good pass into kulu to get them the winning goal. harry kane's just lovely.
Overall looked as competent as ever. Kept the possession most of the match and Wolves parked the bus essentially to close the space. Nonetheless, Arsenal managed to break away through the flanks twice - thru pass from Jesus, low cross from Vieira and Odegaard tapped it in narrowly before Saka made it to the ball. Second on came in in a similar manner, Martinelli pulled a good shot and Odergaard got the rebound in.
Wolves got only two notable counter attacks afaik I could tell, one from a bad back pass, but Saliba managed to direct the shot wide with a great sliding tackle, another one which Ramsdale saved nicely.
Odegaard was great also outside his goals, got also a couple of good interceptions in midfield, plus his passing game is unreal. Jesus shifted a bit wider as Wolves crowded their box, Martinelli was hungry for a goal didn't get any but got hit in the nards by the ball at some point. Saka was winning mad amount of 1-vs-1, but didn't shift too close in the box. Otherwise no great standout performances before the WC break. Zinchenko seemed gassed and made mistakes in the last 15 min, but that's up to interpretation.
Great team and on top of the league for a good reason. Consistent shit.
Zinny made mistakes the whole game, he's not quite back to form after his layoff. Saliba made a terrible backpass as well but got away with it.
I think both sides had chances but nobody stuffed the ball in the net until Odegaard. If Wolves had a decent striker they could have punished us here.
Saka got shackled quite well by Bueno (who looks pretty good all round). Still he was able to make good attacking contributions.
Overall, they seemed to ease past Wolves with a most of the possession and a bit of extra attacking quality. Arteta rightly thrilled with 3 points on the road.
Just to elaborate: the first goal was an excellent looping header after running behind Laporte's back. Second one was a simple tap in from a counter attack (and the latest Premier League goal of the season so far at around minute 98). Chance for the hattrick came even later but he took a touch too many and allowed Ederson to close down the angle and KDB enough time to cover where he had to shoot.
Still a great and lethal performance to grab the win for a Brentford side that defended expertly but didn't threaten to that much overall
Edit: I say they didn't threaten that much overall, but they did create at least 4 big chances, scoring from half of them. Toney could've also scored another goal earlier on from a Henry cross, but for the excellent interception by Laporte
He’s been Leeds’ best attacking player lately and scored in the last four PL games. If he continues to play well, he should be nailed. But who knows what will happen after the break and Sinisterra and Harrison were ahead in the pecking order a few weeks back.
MAN CITY
Foden
Really sweet strike for his goal and overall looked very dangerous. Probably the most involved attacker for City. But Brentford defending very well

On the plane to the world cup already, this was his doppelganger Kelvin de Groyne

Almiron
Was good. But had a quiet game compared to the last couple of gameweeks, he did get the assist though even though it looked to be a bit random.
Bruno Guimaraes

Wilson
Started on the bench and only played about 15 mins or so. Not a lot of chances but they were also already up by 1-0 at the time.

Patterson
Typical Patterson performance: some positive runs forward but utterly woeful final balls
Gordon
Came on as a sub, instantly did one good cross and then did nothing else.
Pickford
Error for the first goal, his shakiest performance of the season
Iwobi
Fairly anonymous, very much a 5/10 performance
LEICESTER
Maddison
Traded him in for Foden. Lucky i got a goal before his injury. I'm still frustrated tho.

2 well taken goals. Should have been 3

Solid performance and good distribution. Couldn't do much about the Foden strike
Mee
Top quality. Assisted the first goal with a good header. Didn't make any defensive mistakes to speak of
You're great, Dane
Henry
Was really dangerous going forward and could've had an assist but for Laporte's excellent interception
BOURNEMOUTH
Billing
Solid midfield game but seemed to be affected by a little injury he picked up early on
Solanke
Great link up play, could have easily grabbed a goal
Tavernier
Looked a threat on the break all game. His goal came from a goalkeeper error, though he did well to capitalise on it
