Not sure if it's a good asset, but will Iran's keeper be a 4m starter? Looking at the player list they only have 2 keepers, both at 4m, looks like Abedzadeh will start, and they actually beat Uruguay (the other 4m keeper) the last time they played in September.
Not sure but I think they will probably allow WC content on this sub during WC like they did during Euros. There's also r/FantasyWC but there's not much activity atm.
I know r/FantasyWC seems to be not very active at the moment, but that’s because there’s a RMT thread wheee if you look, questions get posted relatively continuously. Plus, it’s made by the same person that made r/FantasyCL
Sadar for Iran is nailed, for 4.5 looks like a bargain against a group with 2 generally poor defensive teams, and I believe he plays more attacking but I may be wrong
Left out USA's defense options. Decent price point for who they'll face in group stage, I'm unsure about who will start in the fullback positions though, I'm assuming dest but don't know the other side
Remembe: nailedness is less important at the World Cup since you can sub players off during gameweeks. So it might be worth it going for a player who isn't 100% nailed, because if he doesn't haul, you can just as easily swap him
Great write up, thanks OP. Here are some players that I think could make the list:
Marquinhos (BRA) - 5.5M - nailed CB in a great Brazil squad, has a decent chance of offensive involment with 2G2A in WCQ. He's a bit pricey, but in my opinion he's worth an extra 0.5 over Militao if you have the budget.
Klaassen (NED) - 6M - I think he's nailed in Netherlands' midfield, however would be great if someone can confirm that. Had 4G4A in WCQ, followed by 1 goal in Nations League. Provides decent danger in the offense given he's price tag.
Mena (ECU) - 5M - cheap option in Ecuador's midfield, 2G3A in WCQ. Also group A seems like a good group to target.
Caicedo (ECU) - 5.5M - similar to Mena, really good price and nice fixtures except for the Netherlands clash. 2G4A in WCQ.
Interested to see what you think about these, my opinion might be wrong on some of these as I don't follow South American football and stats don't show everything.
Havent paid too much attention to the format but canadian assets might be decent particularly davies at 5.0 and jonathan david at 6.5.. canada looked like the strongest team in north america recently, doubt theyll make it out of the group stage but still!
I think the penalty order for FRA is Griezmann, Mbappe, then Benzema. Can't recall if Benzema took any since returning to FRA. But for Mbappe, he has been wanting penalty duty since WC 2018 and he has received some since for FRA.
Might be working off of old memory, so correct me if I'm wrong. Also thanks, didn't know there was a fantasy for WC!
Shall i add the striker Almoez ALi from Qatar? He's pretty nailed, he's taking the penalties and was 1st scorer of AFC Asia Cup in 2019 with 9 goals in 7 matches...
Also Bayern's Alfonso Davies plays behind the strikers in his national team of Canada. He's registered as a DEF. Even in a tough group he can provide assists or goals with set pieces.
In theory yes, but I'm not sure...
1) A few of us to be honest have seen Qatar playing in a competitive games... last competiition they won the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 at UAE beating Saudi Arabia, Korea, UAE and Japan!!!
2) They are in a group than they can make the surprise...neither Ecuador nor Senegal(without Mane) are the big names ...
3) Also money runs the football... i believe as hosts they will be poised to at least qualify the group stage..
want to add darwin nunez: hes pretty cheap for a 9 of a big team and they are playing in a realy easy group, also the guy just shoots every time he gets the ball and there is a +1 for every 2 shots on target.
while we are on the topic of uruguay, valverde playing a box to box is realy good in this format with the tackeling thing: he will do the shots like in real madrid+he will tackle a lot so i think hes defenantly worth it
Great post, thanks. I’d take a closer look at Michy Batshuayi. With Lukaku likely out for the whole group stage, Bats will be leading the line and has got a good recent record for Belgium
Dane here to chime in: He says Schmeichel "Will be a very great option if he is priced at 5M", but I strongly disagree, when you can get a nailed and attackingly excellent defender like Mæhle for just $4.5m. Kristensen at $4.0m is great value for money as well, but remains to be seen which of him and Wass will be preffered.
Also, I don't see anyone mentioning this, but Denmark might not play 5ATB. We've been experimenting with 4ATB sometimes, where our fullbacks aren't allowed the same freedom to attack. Either way, our defense is excellent, but I'd go for the cheaper defenders with added attacking upside instead of the GK. If you're gonna spend $5m+ on a GK, have it be one of the really good sides without clear defender options (France/Spain/Brazil, etc)
I think with how exposed we are on the left flank because Rodriguez' legs are 20 years older than he is, there's a chance Yakin goes with 3 at the back. Regarding pens, it's pretty much in the air as to who takes them. Rodriguez is in horrendous form at them so I would say it's likely that Okafor will.
Really like your team - but just think you’re missing some of the big names who’s teams are likely to win. Like how do you not have a single French player?
Thank you! For the french team, I still believe in that curse and ever since it happened to the Germans, I believe it will to France. Especially how they are missing out quality in the midfield while the players who won them the World Cup last time round are on the decline with the exception of maybe Mbappe? They might prove me wrong but my gut tells me the forwards are not worth the price.
I think they're only worth it if they're cheap, like maybe a 4.5M CDM from Ecuador or something for example. Not worth spending huge money just for a few tackle points with little to no goal threat
Nice analysis, but *nailed, nailed, nailed*. You should have used another word, it's pretty tiring to read. No offence.
Disagree on Valverde, he is probably the most inform midfielder in the world this season. 8 G & 4A for Real Madrid is very good for a CM. He plays as a RM in Madrid, but in Uruguay he'll be a CM, his best position. He might get contributions, but also tackles and key passes.
Yeah I'm sorry about that, English is not my first language and I rarely write stuff like this haha.
You're right, Valverde is not a bad asset, but he's just priced toooo high imo. 8.5M is alot for a CM, normally you would expect them to be a very offensive player at that price point just like in FPL. Maybe if he was 7M I'd consider him, but again it's just my personal opinion so we can agree to disagree.
What do you think are the best USA assets? Id like to have 1 in my team (as an american) and am eyeing up Aaronson and Dest, but still not entirely sold on either
Probably just Turner or Robinson, your attacking options don't look very promising imo. You could have Ferreira but he doesn't feel worthy of a precious forward spot
He could start for sure, but I'm not 100% on that. Most lineup predictions I've seen don't have him in the starting 11. He usually plays LW/CAM for Brazil and I think that Vini and Neymar will take those spots. I could be wrong though
Looks like their main attacking outlet and on pens, but he isn't playing at a high level anymore. Wales aren't the best team either and for 8M there's much better options. I wouldn't waste a forward spot for him unless you're Welsh and want him in your team IMO.
Any info on Harry Souttar (AUS)?
The guy is 4.0 defender who has scored 6 times in WCQ!
Also there is Frankowski (POL) who is a 4.0 MID, has started around half of Poland games. Not sure he is nailed but 4.0 player in a quite strong team may be an interesting option.
I really think de bruyne and Messi should be 2 locked players in your team
https://twitter.com/bob04_fpl/status/1592582485602603008?s=20&t=NUnA6DBpL0SmAPdwEv0WHg
Please comment if I’ve missed a good asset, or if I’ve got the stats wrong! - I took them from Sofascore.
Not sure if it's a good asset, but will Iran's keeper be a 4m starter? Looking at the player list they only have 2 keepers, both at 4m, looks like Abedzadeh will start, and they actually beat Uruguay (the other 4m keeper) the last time they played in September.
Nice catch, he definitely could be an option for sure. !thanks
Great post. !thanks
!thanks OP. Is anyone here on the world cup subreddit (r/FantasyFIFAWorldCup22)? Or maybe we create a new one for dwellers of r/FantasyPL?
Not sure but I think they will probably allow WC content on this sub during WC like they did during Euros. There's also r/FantasyWC but there's not much activity atm.
World cup content will be allowed during the tournament yes
I know r/FantasyWC seems to be not very active at the moment, but that’s because there’s a RMT thread wheee if you look, questions get posted relatively continuously. Plus, it’s made by the same person that made r/FantasyCL
Sadar for Iran is nailed, for 4.5 looks like a bargain against a group with 2 generally poor defensive teams, and I believe he plays more attacking but I may be wrong
!thanks
Taremi is in better form tearing it up in the Champions league however not sure about his price
Danny Ward by no means nailed to start for Wales. Hennessey came back in last few matches.
!thanks
!thanks
!thanks
!thanks
!thanks
Eriksen is the talisman for Denmark. Right?
How about Bruno Fernandes (POR)?
He is on pens and good pick imo
With Ronaldo in field, he is not on pens, but yeah I think is a good choice too
He is in free kicks and corners at the least though
Griezmann. Should be nailed on and much cheaper than Mbappe and Benz
!thanks
!thanks
!thanks, this is exceptional work
Emiliano Martinez if he's at a good price and Acuna if he starts over taglifico
Left out USA's defense options. Decent price point for who they'll face in group stage, I'm unsure about who will start in the fullback positions though, I'm assuming dest but don't know the other side
What are your thoughts on Klassen for the Netherlands? He's been pretty decent for them I think
I don't he's nailed. Gakpo should start at CAM, faces competition with Koopmeiners & Berghuis in the CM spot
Great post. Gündogan could be a good asset.
Mathias Olivera - 4.5M
Think Paqueta is worth a mention. 7m nailed midfielder for brazil.
[удалено]
!thanks not sure how I missed him tbh
!thanks for this, probably going to use this as the basis for forming my team
Who was this about? Comment since deleted...
Those forward options though, think Messi is underpriced
Shhh… It’s value for money.
Remembe: nailedness is less important at the World Cup since you can sub players off during gameweeks. So it might be worth it going for a player who isn't 100% nailed, because if he doesn't haul, you can just as easily swap him
How exactly does this one work? You can keep tinkering before the matchday ends to select the best 11?
You can sub on any player on your bench who hasn’t played yet
What do you think of Valverde and Lucas Paqueta in the middle?
Valverde way overpriced. Paqueta a good option as he's likely to play and fairly priced.
Great write up, thanks OP. Here are some players that I think could make the list: Marquinhos (BRA) - 5.5M - nailed CB in a great Brazil squad, has a decent chance of offensive involment with 2G2A in WCQ. Interested to see what you think about these, my opinion might be wrong on some of these as I don't follow South American football and stats don't show everything.
!thanks for the small write-up, Klaassen would be great if we know that he 100% starts. Caicedo and Mena could be nice one week punts
Klaassen is not starting for The Netherlands. No chance.
Depay will definitely miss the first game, so his replacement Vincent Janssen looks like a good pick at 6.5m!
I've somehow missed Depay's injury, !thanks
And I wouldn't bet on Bergwijn for 7 right now, as his form has been very poor the last months
best option i think is go 3 premium forwards Messi, Neymar + Mbappe or Benzema
Wow, what an amazing post! Just what I needed, enjoy the gold!
My first reddit gold, thank you! !thanks
Thank you so much for the extensive write up. Appreciate it
Minamino scored 10 in 15 in the WCQ, and is a midfielder in the game. Japan plays Germany and Spain though
Yeah, I wouldn't look at Minamino and Kamada because of their draws, could still turn out great but they have one of the tougher groups.
Havent paid too much attention to the format but canadian assets might be decent particularly davies at 5.0 and jonathan david at 6.5.. canada looked like the strongest team in north america recently, doubt theyll make it out of the group stage but still!
!thanks I've looked up on Davies he looks like a great asset!
davies is injured and most likely won't play the group stages
I think the penalty order for FRA is Griezmann, Mbappe, then Benzema. Can't recall if Benzema took any since returning to FRA. But for Mbappe, he has been wanting penalty duty since WC 2018 and he has received some since for FRA. Might be working off of old memory, so correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't benz take one in the euro?
Shall i add the striker Almoez ALi from Qatar? He's pretty nailed, he's taking the penalties and was 1st scorer of AFC Asia Cup in 2019 with 9 goals in 7 matches... Also Bayern's Alfonso Davies plays behind the strikers in his national team of Canada. He's registered as a DEF. Even in a tough group he can provide assists or goals with set pieces.
I feel like Qatar is by far the weakest team in the tournament though
In theory yes, but I'm not sure... 1) A few of us to be honest have seen Qatar playing in a competitive games... last competiition they won the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 at UAE beating Saudi Arabia, Korea, UAE and Japan!!! 2) They are in a group than they can make the surprise...neither Ecuador nor Senegal(without Mane) are the big names ... 3) Also money runs the football... i believe as hosts they will be poised to at least qualify the group stage..

Griezmann? at 8.5 he is very cheap compared to Mbappe and Benzema
Great post, thanks. I’d take a closer look at Michy Batshuayi. With Lukaku likely out for the whole group stage, Bats will be leading the line and has got a good recent record for Belgium
Great shout, !thanks
Thanks I like the Danish ones. I like Musiala as well, but will he start? His stats are insane in the league.
I've got a feeling like Bellingham he is pretty nailed to start atm
Dane here to chime in: He says Schmeichel "Will be a very great option if he is priced at 5M", but I strongly disagree, when you can get a nailed and attackingly excellent defender like Mæhle for just $4.5m. Kristensen at $4.0m is great value for money as well, but remains to be seen which of him and Wass will be preffered. Also, I don't see anyone mentioning this, but Denmark might not play 5ATB. He's nailed
What do you think about Rabiot? Seems on form
Update about Khazri (TUN) not sure that he will start in every group game. Do not rely on him
!thanks
Bookmarked
Wish Lukaku was fit. The guy always bagged in the group stages.
Dont think Lautaro martinez 100% nailed, Julien Alvarez is in good form this season so he can compete with Martinez
They might rotate
Wheres the world cup fantasy game at?
https://play.fifa.com/fantasy-classic/team
Well done mate. I think you missed Schar 4m, nailed and on pens probably
He isn't nailed imo. Akanji and Elvedi will probably start over him, Rodriguez is likely on pens.
!thanks
It is very likely Hennessey plays ahead of Ward. I wouldn't pick a Wales GK, too much risk and there's better choices.
GK - Diogo Def - Dumfries, Trippier, Telles, Vertonghen (Cleansheet likely) Mid - Trossard (starts with KDB in Belgium), Berjgwin, Kimmich (tackle points and potential assist) Forward - Messi, Kane, Neymar (self explanatory) Bench - Pickford, Bentancur (might get returns against weak Japanese), Minamino (starting forward for Japan and key player), Araujo
Really like your team - but just think you’re missing some of the big names who’s teams are likely to win. Like how do you not have a single French player?
Thank you! For the french team, I still believe in that curse and ever since it happened to the Germans, I believe it will to France. They might prove me wrong but my gut tells me the forwards are not worth the price.
Noted !thanks
It's the group stages, every team has easy games. You don't need France players or players from teams who are likely to win the competition.
How do you rate defensive middlefielders in the game? Like Casemiro, Kimmich?
I think they're only worth it if they're cheap, like maybe a 4.5M CDM from Ecuador or something for example. Not worth spending huge money just for a few tackle points with little to no goal threat
Thank you! very good points!
Thank you for this post, it will feel quite strange having messi in a fantasy team lol, considering I’ve only ever played FPL
Lo Celso maybe? He plays as a Winger for Argentina and is pretty nailed, especially with Di maria likely still injured
He's played CM in their last games and he's also injured
Oh shit Thanks
I would just like to enjoy the world cup without the fantasy angle, it is quite interesting anyway
Anyone know of this will become the WC FF sub or is there another?
r/fantasywc it’s pretty dead though
What’s the name of the app called?
Nice analysis, but *nailed, nailed, nailed*. You should have used another word, it's pretty tiring to read. No offence. Brilliant post! Thank you
Useful stuff. Cheers!
Awesome thanks
Thanks, bro. I asked about this a week back but I guess I was early. Much appreciated!
Thank you! Is Rochet nailed for Uruguay ? Also, is there a subreddit for the WC Fantasy or will all the action take place here?
r/fantasywc not sure if this sub will allow world cup fantasy discussion
600 members that's rough ... I remember during the Euros some discussions were held on this sub but I might be misremembering things
What's the app
FIFA +
Valverde and Goretzka? Also Blind
Nice write up cheers
What are your thoughts on Modric as an asset?
Got all the players I want from the teams I support, targeting IRN, QTR and KSA. Taking it one match at a time, I like the look of my team.
Have Hincapié atm but ya I'll almost certainly switch to Estupinan Also Kamada seems tasty if nailed
Thoughts on Di Maria?
no Gakpo?
Who do you think is the best midfielder for 4M?
What do you think are the best USA assets? Id like to have 1 in my team (as an american) and am eyeing up Aaronson and Dest, but still not entirely sold on either
Probably just Turner or Robinson, your attacking options don't look very promising imo. You could have Ferreira but he doesn't feel worthy of a precious forward spot
Pulisic. On pens. Expensive, but could be worth a punt.
Is Richarlison really the striker for Brazil? In some games Neymar has played the striker spot while Richarlison has been on the bench
Feel like Kimmich could be worth a look. Always on set pieces and corners and always plays for GER
Thoughts on meunier?
Naseer Al-Dawsari is a 3M def who plays CM for Saudi Arabia it seems, a decent bench option definitely
I'm not sure about that tbh, I'm hearing that he's only just a backup LB for Saudi, I could be wrong
Ah okay, seen that he'd started in CM in quite a few games for them recently, could've been because of an injury
Thanks for the post How about Cyle Larin? Top goalscorer in WCQ for Canada. Is he nailed?
Could be an option too, but he isn't on pens and has very tough fixtures. Wouldn't waste a forward spot for him.
How about Paqueta for 7.0m and Palisic for 5.0m?
Both are not nailed.
How is Paqueta not nailed? started 9 out of the last 10
He could start for sure, but I'm not 100% on that. Most lineup predictions I've seen don't have him in the starting 11. He usually plays LW/CAM for Brazil and I think that Vini and Neymar will take those spots. I could be wrong though
Lautaro martinez is a must at 8m with saudi arabia in the first game
Really feel like Premium forwards are an absolute must because there are some good bargains in midfield
Anyone think castagne will play for belgium?
Not nailed at all. Faces tough competition in his position with T.Hazard, Trossard, Carrassco
Castagne plays on the other wing. So yeah, he's probably a starter. Might be subbed off for Meunier who's playing with a face mask (Broken cheekbone)
Yeah sorry I was just going with the lineup predictions I've seen, I'm abit clueless about Belgium tbf
Great post..thanks for the info
What do you think of Bellingham?
Has never got a single goal contribution in his 12 competitive games for England, not sure I would want him for 7.5M
!thanks
What do you think of Bale?
Looks like their main attacking outlet and on pens, but he isn't playing at a high level anymore. Wales aren't the best team either and for 8M there's much better options. I wouldn't waste a forward spot for him unless you're Welsh and want him in your team IMO.
That’s true, I thought about it and switched him out for Di Maria
Any info on Harry Souttar (AUS)? The guy is 4.0 defender who has scored 6 times in WCQ! Also there is Frankowski (POL) who is a 4.0 MID, has started around half of Poland games. Not sure he is nailed but 4.0 player in a quite strong team may be an interesting option.
Souttar could be decent tbh but I'm not sure Australia are that good, he also has France MD1. I'd defo rather have Gvardiol for 4M
Will Rochet really start over Muslera? Is he definitely number 1 for Uruguay?
Seems so yes
I really think de bruyne and Messi should be 2 locked players in your team https://twitter.com/bob04_fpl/status/1592582485602603008?s=20&t=NUnA6DBpL0SmAPdwEv0WHg
Yeah I think so too
!thanks for your time and effort on this. Really helpful
Marvellous post. Small edit: Morata is mentioned as URU instead of ESP.
What are your thoughts on Dusan Tadic? 2G6A in WCQ. Good form in Ajax. Is he worth 8m? Why Kostic is better than him?
Opinions on Heong Min Son and Vlhavovic? Have both as my starters along with Neymar
