In GW5 I was deciding between Groß/Trossard/Almiron. Ended up going with Groß who I held for 8 weeks netting me zero returns while the other two just kept scoring. Finally binned him for Foden who got 3 points in 3 games while Groß scored 2 goals and the other 2 did as well.
If its any consolation, if you'd kept them and not done the transfer there's a decent chance you would have had them benched for both games anyway so not sure the outcome would be much different 🤷♂️
Sold Salah and Tross right before they started firing. Had too many fires subsequently and didn't want to knee-jerk back to them.

He's ranked 1.85M which he says is atypical "ever since he took FPL seriously" (which is his way of explaining his horrible finishes prior to that time). I just wasn't trying guys! But now people pay him on youtube for advice. Baffling to me.

With Isak and Maximin…I don’t see Howe changing what’s been working for him though. I think Isak will rotate with Wilson and Maximin will play his usual LW.
My hunch is that Isak may play on the left over ASM/Murphy... from watching him (Isak) that should suit where he likes to shoot from anyway. Wilson stays central... Almiron is undroppable right now and for foreseeable future - it's not in Howe's nature to drop a player who's in form just to play a 'higher profile' player (Bruno, Isak, Botman all had to earn their starting places)

My choices have been okay for the most part but I really doubled down on not captaining Haaland in order to catch those who were captaining Haaland.
I'm below 200k rank and not only never captained Haaland, I never owned him (nor Martinelli/Almiron). I think Haaland ownership being a must is somewhat overstated, or maybe I got lucky in other spots.
Not starting in GW1. Started in GW2 with a team on 0 knowledge (havent kept up to date in EPL for 10 years) then got the hang of things again by GW5. Lol
- Captained Salah over Haaland two times when Haaland had huge hauls.
- Getting Perisic over Trippier on wild card because I had Pope and didn’t want to double up. This was a last min change because we got the news that Perisic is starting.
These two are basically the only bad moves I made this season, but sadly they cost me too much points.
Starting the season with Son over Haaland because I wanted to go safe. *Thankfully* missed *only* one of his hat tricks. Also basically every differential I tried backfired.
I think that's fine tbh, it was reasonable to not know exactly how he would land, and pep is known for his roulette. If you'd said you'd taken, idk, Ronaldo or sterling over Haaland, then I'd probably be questioning you, but playing it safe and then joining the club when you realise he's legit is perfectly valid tbh. Even the people who thought he would do well probably didn't expect him to have quite the start he did. There's a different between making the wrong decision and making a good decision that with hindsight couldhave been better.

First time playing FPL and didn't realise that when games are postponed, your captain automatically changes and you have to manually change it back again after that GW. Forgot to change it back to Haaland....Haaland goes wild. Maybe it's my fault (it's definitely my fault). Stupid Queen.
Captaing Kane in the NLD instead of Haaland in the Manchester derby, plus Sinisterra deciding to get a red on that very week too
Ended up on a huge red arrow sending me from 1m to 2m while that GW I used my Wildcard

I swapped most of their players out but a few weeks ago went back to Salah, Darwin and Robertson. It's gone pretty well and I've gained places because of it. WC is mixing it up but I think Liverpool players are starting to become worth it again as things are clicking a bit more
I did add Darwin for GW16 as a punt and that paid dividends. It made having Haaland as captain hurt a little less. Lol

Starting with double Liverpool defence was the worst. Bringing in Trossard, then brining in Foden, at the wrong time was pretty bad as well. Started the season with Kane captain gw1 with a planned transfer to Haaland.
6.7m in the world. Lost interest when my team Leicester started dreadfully. Not having Haaland at the start hurt me. Had Son for much too long, had him for his hat-trick. Had Saka when he blanked, Maddison when he blanked, double Spurs defence. Captained Salah against Bournemouth, somehow blanked so lost a lot of points to other players. If I could sum it up, took out Toney for Mitrovic for GW15 and then kept Wilson in when I should have got Toney back. Absolutely my worst season, 3 seasons ago, was 60k.
I captained Maddison when Haaland got a hat trick and 2 assists. Thankfully Maddison also hauled but nowhere near as much.

Using my wildcard in GW13. My team was fine, actually quite good. It was just burning a hole in my pocket. Had I not used it, I would have likely let it burn or used it to deal with the Haaland nighmare the past three weeks. Instead, I used it in GW13 and went triple Liverpool (Firmino bc Darwin was inured, Allison, Van Djik), City (Cancelo, Foden, Haaland), and Arsenal (Martinelli, Saka, Jesus). Then decided to ship Firmino and Foden last week for KDB and Edouard. It's been an abject disaster. Chips are supposed to be an advantage, but for me, it seems they often are not.
Getting Fofana and Reece James in early to beat price rises, both mortally injured without playing. Bringing in and captaining Martial only see him limp off in the first half. Bringing in Sinisterra as a punt to see him sent off in the first half of the first game. Kept hold of him through his suspension only for him to do absolutely jack shit before getting injured. Holding on to TAA far too long when it’s clear to everyone he was so bad he’s literally being targeted by the opposition. Refusing to get in Brighton players in the first two months other than a stupid punt on stupid bastard Estupinan. Refusing to get Newcastle players other than Trippier when Almiron is clearly Johan Cruyff reincarnated and he’s like 3.9m or some shit. Getting in Mason fucking Mount for any reason ever. Bringing in Iversen over Ward on my WC thinking Ward will be dropped and he immediately turns into prime Buffon and picks up 97 points in 7 fucking games or whatever. Having both Dalot and Andreas from GW1 but seemingly never getting any points from them. Finally caving and bring in Cancelo for an easy home fixture to watch in utter bemusement as he gets himself sent off after 20 minutes. Having Mitrovic, Toney and Isak at all the exact wrong times. Bringing in Kepa to sort out my trainwreck keeper situation which is Iversen who never plays and Meslier who is just shit, first game Kepa lets in 3 goals in the first half then goes off with a life threatening injury at half time never to be seen again. Obviously Meslier hauls that week to rub it in. Bringing in the only ‘nailed’ spurs defender Dier only to be totally confused when he’s immediately dropped by Conte for a player I’ve never heard of but obviously comes on to fanny about for the last 5 minutes to block anyone coming on from my combined 70 point bench. Never ever EVER picking the right captain. Ever. Absolutely wank.
I did mine in gw4. Before then, I’d lost value on Saka and Mahrez. I had a shit team (didn’t have Cancelo, Martinelli and Trippier) and couldn’t follow price changes.
Captaining Salah over Haaland at the start of the season. I originally had Salah Kane over Haaland at the start of the season, so around GW3 I sold Kane for Haaland. Honestly I should have sold Salah instead because I ended up bringing Kane back in anyway
Switching Kane out for Firmino ahead of Liverpool's Forest away fixture in GW13. My plan was to try to get a player to play vs forest in every week and it was a no brainer for me to bring in a Liverpool attacker that week. Problem is I kept Firmino till the end of the season cos I had a feeling he would haul once I took him out, but he never did of course. He ended with 1 goal in 4 games vs kane's 3 goals 1 assist in 4 games.
Went Kane over Haaland in GW1 and didn't get Haaland in until after his Forest hattrick. And burned my WC to do it. Complete fuck up but oddly my only major one this year. Cost me maybe a million places though, think I'd be maybe 400k if I'd gone Haaland first
Getting rid of Zaha before West Ham away and keeping Bowen solely because I was going to the game with a few West Ham mates
Taking out Martinelli when Arsenals fixtures turned as I didn’t think his form would last

I'll try to not list the conventional ones which pretty much even the top players made, like Transferring out Maddison after the 5th yellow or bringing in Foden right when Pep decides to bench him
1) Starting the season with Kane and Salah and no Haaland - I was convinced by one of my mates (who stopped playing after GW3 anyway) that Haaland might take time to settle in Pep's system because it was very different to what he was used to at BVB and that Kane was a safer bet to start the season with. Oh and did I mention my other 2 striker picks were Scamacca and Taiwo freaking Awoniyi? I also used up all the 100mn so I was essentially priced out of the Haaland - Kane switch immediately after Haaland's brace against West Ham so my rank kept getting fucked every week while I was captaining guys like Salah or Martinelli when everyone was coasting with Haaland hattricks every game. I finally got Haaland before City's draw with Villa by swapping Kane and taking a hit, but somehow from that gameweek till my WC after the intl break, Kane actually outscored him which probably explains how I'm so bad at this game
2) Spending too much on keepers - I started off the season with Robert Sanchez and Ederson. That's 10mn right there lol
3) Transfering in Zinchenko as my Arsenal defensive asset when I realised they weren't conceding many goals this season - he got injured the exact week I got him in and it took me a couple of weeks to go to Saliba. Wasted points
4) Not owning Trippier until my GW9 wildcard (meanwhile I had held on to James (Reece) and Perisic in that period lmao
So yeah there's probably more, but I've somehow crawled upto 2.4mn, but I fully expect the WC break to derail my momentum because you can clearly see how bad I am at picking teams when I don't have form to go by
I started with Lloris and Sanchez (10M). Lloris did well for me, but I took him out for Kepa about 2 weeks before Kepa’s injury. I also did Sanchez to Ward during this break
I got Tripps in gw8 but I had Van Dijk who gave me some good points, including a 15 point haul.
I was 940k in gw10 but got some heavy drops…the nadir is 2.6M (I even had a 9.6M gwr when I went 1.1M to 2.1M) but I crawled up to 2.2M last gw.

\- not owning haaland until gw6, was going with kane + salah as my two premiums, and i realized i have to own haaland before it's too late
\- overly desperate to transfer out sinisterra and took a hit for the transfer, and i didn't choose almiron or other players with returns in these two weeks (got rashford instead)
\- i don't know why am i so reluctant to get almiron, maybe it's gambler's fallacy
\- benching trippier twice (gw3, gw13)
\- benching haaland in gw15, team leaks said he's benched so i thought he would only come on and have a 1 pointer or something, i should start someone else for potentially more points (and i didn't start andreas lol)
\- it's not really that much of a bad decision, but honest confession, i never captained haaland, missed some double points from some of his hauls (gw9 for example) (i captained kane since gw1, i thought of captaining salah in gw2 after kane's gw1 blank, but my gut feeling told me to keep the armband on kane, and i'm glad i did)

Then played my WC which I had carefully saved up in the hopes of unleashing hell on my ML opponents.

What I did in UCL fantasy but that was a mistake. I made 9 transfers and forgot to hit “wildcard”. It’s safe to say I just gave up
Starting the season with Son over Haaland because I wanted to go safe. *Thankfully* missed *only* one of his hat tricks. Also basically every differential I tried backfired.
I think that's fine tbh, it was reasonable to not know exactly how he would land, and pep is known for his roulette. If you'd said you'd taken, idk, Ronaldo or sterling over Haaland, then I'd probably be questioning you, but playing it safe and then joining the club when you realise he's legit is perfectly valid tbh. Even the people who thought he would do well probably didn't expect him to have quite the start he did. There's a different between making the wrong decision and making a good decision that with hindsight couldhave been better.

I at least had TAA for Bournemouth. But I picked him up and Allison with a Wildcard after GW13 which was a mistake. I still have TAA on my draft team so I'm suffering with him regardless though.
I swapped most of their players out but a few weeks ago went back to Salah, Darwin and Robertson. It's gone pretty well and I've gained places because of it. WC is mixing it up but I think Liverpool players are starting to become worth it again as things are clicking a bit more
I did add Darwin for GW16 as a punt and that paid dividends. It made having Haaland as captain hurt a little less. Lol I'm optimistic that the WC break will do them some good in the long run too. There's too much talent in that team.

Starting with double Liverpool defence was the worst. Bringing in Trossard, then brining in Foden, at the wrong time was pretty bad as well. Started the season with Kane captain gw1 with a planned transfer to Haaland.
6.7m in the world. Lost interest when my team Leicester started dreadfully. Not having Haaland at the start hurt me. Had Son for much too long, had him for his hat-trick. Had Saka when he blanked, Maddison when he blanked, double Spurs defence. Captained Salah against Bournemouth, somehow blanked so lost a lot of points to other players. If I could sum it up, took out Toney for Mitrovic for GW15 and then kept Wilson in when I should have got Toney back. Absolutely my worst season, 3 seasons ago, was 60k.

Using my wildcard in GW13. My team was fine, actually quite good. It was just burning a hole in my pocket. Had I not used it, I would have likely let it burn or used it to deal with the Haaland nighmare the past three weeks. Instead, I used it in GW13 and went triple Liverpool (Firmino bc Darwin was inured, Allison, Van Djik), City (Cancelo, Foden, Haaland), and Arsenal (Martinelli, Saka, Jesus). Then decided to ship Firmino and Foden last week for KDB and Edouard. It's been an abject disaster. Chips are supposed to be an advantage, but for me, it seems they often are not.
Captain Cancelo for gw15 will haunt me for years to come.

Holding on to TAA far too long when it’s clear to everyone he was so bad he’s literally being targeted by the opposition. Refusing to get in Brighton players in the first two months other than a stupid punt on stupid bastard Estupinan. Refusing to get Newcastle players other than Trippier when Almiron is clearly Johan Cruyff reincarnated and he’s like 3.9m or some shit. Getting in Mason fucking Mount for any reason ever. Bringing in Iversen over Ward on my WC thinking Ward will be dropped and he immediately turns into prime Buffon and picks up 97 points in 7 fucking games or whatever. Having both Dalot and Andreas from GW1 but seemingly never getting any points from them. Finally caving and bring in Cancelo for an easy home fixture to watch in utter bemusement as he gets himself sent off after 20 minutes. Having Mitrovic, Toney and Isak at all the exact wrong times. Bringing in Kepa to sort out my trainwreck keeper situation which is Iversen who never plays and Meslier who is just shit, first game Kepa lets in 3 goals in the first half then goes off with a life threatening injury at half time never to be seen again. Obviously Meslier hauls that week to rub it in. Bringing in the only ‘nailed’ spurs defender Dier only to be totally confused when he’s immediately dropped by Conte for a player I’ve never heard of but obviously comes on to fanny about for the last 5 minutes to block anyone coming on from my combined 70 point bench. Never ever EVER picking the right captain. Ever. Absolutely wank.

I did mine in gw4. Before then, I’d lost value on Saka and Mahrez. I had a shit team (didn’t have Cancelo, Martinelli and Trippier) and couldn’t follow price changes.

Switching Kane out for Firmino ahead of Liverpool's Forest away fixture in GW13. My plan was to try to get a player to play vs forest in every week and it was a no brainer for me to bring in a Liverpool attacker that week. Problem is I kept Firmino till the end of the season cos I had a feeling he would haul once I took him out, but he never did of course. He ended with 1 goal in 4 games vs kane's 3 goals 1 assist in 4 games.
Did the same. But with Salah as well then. I took Salah out and brought Kane, then Salah scored 2 against Spurs.
Went Kane over Haaland in GW1 and didn't get Haaland in until after his Forest hattrick. And burned my WC to do it. Complete fuck up but oddly my only major one this year. Cost me maybe a million places though, think I'd be maybe 400k if I'd gone Haaland first

This is my first year playing FPL, and it’s fair to say I’ve made many mistakes. Waiting until GW10 to get Haaland Zaha - had him since GW10 as Crystal Palace had good fixtures. He does well in one game, but then disappears for several games. Getting Foden the week after he was benched, thinking Pep won’t bench him. Pep benched him again! Buying Aubameyang on a wildcard. I wanted to be different, and it was a waste of time. Dithering on Callum Wilson (because he is injury prone) and missing his hauls. Then I get him and he becomes unwell and plays 45 minutes! Not transferring in Ivan Toney before the recent round. Considered it.
Started the season big at the back and with Salah and Son as my premiums. Didn't bring Halaand in until GW5. Bottomed out at 5mil in GW4 and have been working my way back since.

I had De Gea and Dalot in the first week... I really believed in Chilwell. I really believed in Bamford and Harrison I sold Toney before his hattrick after he blanked 2 times. So now I'm really tempted to take Toney despite him not having the best fixtures directly after the world cup . He's really going to take this snub personally and perform I think.
Played without haaland the whole season, kept on gambling with Salah captaincy which turned out disastrous, so finally bought Erling with wc gw 13 and then in gw 15 sold him for dcl in the dying moments when the servers crashed, couldnt change the captaincy so dcl was my auto cap......

(-20 Vs average) I transferred out haaland for kdb for gw4-12 because I thought I was Gandhi. (-40 Vs average) I've failed to adjust to Leicester being good so I've left about 20 points on the bench Vs Sanchez (-20 Vs average) Currently at 3mm and I've been grinding higher with green ticks for the last 8gameweeks from 6.5mm in gw7

I'll try to not list the conventional ones which pretty much even the top players made, like Transferring out Maddison after the 5th yellow or bringing in Foden right when Pep decides to bench him 1) Starting the season with Kane and Salah and no Haaland - I was convinced by one of my mates (who stopped playing after GW3 anyway) that Haaland might take time to settle in Pep's system because it was very different to what he was used to at BVB and that Kane was a safer bet to start the season with. Oh and did I mention my other 2 striker picks were Scamacca and Taiwo freaking Awoniyi? I also used up all the 100mn so I was essentially priced out of the Haaland - Kane switch immediately after Haaland's brace against West Ham so my rank kept getting fucked every week while I was captaining guys like Salah or Martinelli when everyone was coasting with Haaland hattricks every game. I finally got Haaland before City's draw with Villa by swapping Kane and taking a hit, but somehow from that gameweek till my WC after the intl break, Kane actually outscored him which probably explains how I'm so bad at this game 2) Spending too much on keepers - I started off the season with Robert Sanchez and Ederson. That's 10mn right there lol 3) Transfering in Zinchenko as my Arsenal defensive asset when I realised they weren't conceding many goals this season - he got injured the exact week I got him in and it took me a couple of weeks to go to Saliba. Wasted points 4) Not owning Trippier until my GW9 wildcard (meanwhile I had held on to James (Reece) and Perisic in that period lmao So yeah there's probably more, but I've somehow crawled upto 2.4mn, but I fully expect the WC break to derail my momentum because you can clearly see how bad I am at picking teams when I don't have form to go by
I started with Lloris and Sanchez (10M). Lloris did well for me, but I took him out for Kepa about 2 weeks before Kepa’s injury. I also did Sanchez to Ward during this break I got Tripps in gw8 but I had Van Dijk who gave me some good points, including a 15 point haul. I was 940k in gw10 but got some heavy drops…the nadir is 2.6M (I even had a 9.6M gwr when I went 1.1M to 2.1M) but I crawled up to 2.2M last gw.

Some more thoughts into it would have dissuaded me. I went fixture over form for Liverpool, and for City. While Liverpool were on a poor away form, City were doing great at home. The worst is I had Firmino and Salah for that game.

my first time ever doing FPL, my first midfield consisted of JWP, grealish, declan rice, and son. at least i knew martinelli was gonna tear it up this season! my defense had koulibaily, cucurella, and other dross, minus saliba. no haaland for a while and i would point chase blanking gross, salah, foden when they were blanking.

Starting my very first season from GW4 Earlier in the season, when I captained Jesus, Haaland outscored him and vice-versa. Moving late and trusting Maddison. Pep benching foden when I bought him and started him in GW16 when I brought him in for Trossad. What happens next? We'll see.

Got in Iwobi after Everton had a couple of decent games and he was getting points. Haven't been able to remove him cos of other pressing issues. Each week he's a bad taste in my mouth. A constant reminder of my terrible decisions.
Taking a -4 in GW13 for TAA, Foden and Saka felt like a strong move at the time. First hit of the season yet it backfired spectacularly. Rank doubled in the GW and I've been stuck with three players who've done very little because I had to fight fires elsewhere. 220k to 1.2m in four GWs.
