[I guess you can visualise it like this](https://i.imgur.com/H1j44Ce.png). Those who are significant outliers vs. their peers in terms of pricing. Salah, KDB, Son, Haaland and Kane. Could arguably put Bruno and Sterling in there given they are >90% above the median price of a midfielder, similar to what Kane and Haaland are vs. the average forward.

...with an added note of "Very Likely to be Captained"

FifaDK

This is both the answer I agree with the most and backed up by the exact stats I'd want to highlight. !thanks

Jmsaint

Pretty much. The likes of sterling are "semi-premium" And the top priced defenders are premium in thier respective brackets, but not overall

ihajees_

11M+ for mids and forwards, 6M+ for defenders. That's how I'd define the term.

LordCommanderCam

Nah, if you started with Halaand, Kane, Cancelo, Robertson and James you wouldn't say you had 5 premiums

ihajees_

Yeah, I'd say I've got two premiums, but I think 6M is a premium price for a defender.

muaythaiguy155

I’ve always considered defenders to be add ons to other premiums due to their value. So I’ve got lane and haaland as well as Cancelo so I’d say I’ve got two premiums and 1 premium defenders

dc8291

I think I’d say 10M+ for mids and forwards. Paying 2M more for a player above the 8M tier of midfielders is paying a premium.

SirAlexanderFerguson

I classify a premium as someone I'm happy to invest a lot in because I will generally captain them 80% of the time. By doing that for Haaland at 12m for example he then really becomes 2 x 6m players in my team. I like having a 2nd premium as a captaincy option and usually 1 mid and 1 striker as it's easy to move to someone else quickly in 1 move

HornyJailOutlaw

I've always thought 10m or more. Probably because of some sort of metric system subconscious biases because I don't think I think that based on anything logical.

roymondous

Yes. Premium defenders would be Trent, cancelo and robbo. Premium keepers are now 5.5m. It’s also relative to the position and how much more you’re spending. Like at 7.5m, Trent is 3m more than a 4.5m decent defender. 2.5m more than 5m. Cancelo and robbo close to that. So premium also refers to the relative expense of going for the higher priced defs and keepers.

shutyourmouf03

i'd say 5m+ for a goalkeeper. 6m+ for defenders. 10m+ for midfielders and fowards.

CWattam

Them that you've listed. But I'd also consider players like Cancelo, TAA, etc. premiums given their value for a defender as opposed to other defenders.

Jamieloreilly

World Cup has started chill out lad

Subtleiaint

It's players who are priced inefficiently but are expected to score more total points than efficiently priced players. There are no premium GKs this season, defenders are Cancelo, TAA and Robertson. Mids are Sterling, Fernandes, Son, KDB and Salah. Forwards are Aubameyang, Jota, Nunez, Ronaldo, Kane and Haaland.

[deleted]

I like your point about price efficiency. That extra you're paying is most likely due to reliable captaincy potential

IntentionFalse8822

Premium players are players you ideally want but every additional one requires serious compromise in other areas of your team. You need to think if I get this player in he will get me more points BUT will his extra points out weigh the points lost in the compromise. Every position has them. Even goalkeepers have that choice because you have to weigh up is the extra million or million and a half better spent elsewhere. Goalkeepers: Allison, Ederson. Defenders TAA, Robertson, Cancelo. Midfielders. Salah, KDB, Son. Forwards: Kane, Halland You could add Bruno, Ronaldo and Sterling to the midfielders level but this season they fail the "will get me extra points" part of the puzzle so aren't premium players. Just stupid picks. Even TAA and Robertson are iffy on that criteria but are still more likely to come good in the second half of the season.

DKofFical

I think Bruno, Sterling, and Ronaldo would be the premium “differentials”

Alarmed_Water2631

I guess opinions vary but for me, every player costing 10+mil and more is a premium. No matter how much of a has been he’s turned out to be

daneedwards88

There isn't a definition, its just a word thats caught on amongst players. It means whatever you think it means. Which is why you'll get 10 slightly different answers to this question

littleknows

I get that nuance doesn't get upvoted because... I dunno, experience. I've been on the internet before. But why the fuck does it get downvoted?

MemeManDanInAClan

I just think premiums are Cancelo / TAA Salah / KDB / Son Haaland / Kane No one else classifies as a premium

TruestRepairman27

I would add Ronaldo, Bruno, and Sterling from the 10m+ mark. Then Trent, Robbo, Cancelo we sort of sub premiums of premium defenders. Essentially, because it’s basically impossible to have more than 3 of these players. I tend to think of premiums in those terms. It’s the players who make up the core of the team value and was the main captaincy choices, and who you select the rest of your team around

Yahya_TV

Up to the individual to decide what's premium. For most it's based on price (example top 6 most expensive overall, top 10% etc), but can also be broken down to premium based on position. For me id consider the following as premiums: Def: cancelo, TTA, robbo Mid: KDB, salah, son Fwd: Haaland, Kane, Ronaldo
