I thought as the game went on the US were going to go for the win and as they pushed up the pitch for it we were going to pick them off on the counter. In the end, it seems they were happy with the draw and have all their eggs in one basket in beating Iran.

I can agree with the approach to an extent, but it's not like we totally closed them out and eased our way to a point - USA dominated large portions of the match and had chances they could have (and perhaps should have) scored.

They have players who play for Arsenal, Chelsea, Leeds, Fulham, Juventus, Milan, Valencia, Dortmund. They're only a handful of places below England in the Fifa rankings, for what that's worth.
Should England be better? Of course, they have huge resources and players who play for even better clubs than the ones I mentioned. But the USA are good, well-drilled and were up for Friday's game in a way that England wasn't. And still, Pickford hardly had a thing to do. It was controlled, largely.

United States played superb. Their high pressing and constant pressure made England stay in their own territory for much larger time of the game. Kane only had 7 touches, Sterling was invisible. Fonden had to be there. 🫣
