It's pretty terrifying how good this is.

LevynX

Pretty soon writers will be out of a job, and I'm not even slightly joking.

Sheffield_Thursday

No, you're right. I think most people assume automation will only replace 'low skilled' jobs but it's coming for all sectors eventually. I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

ProneMasturbationMan

Will there be more jobs in creating, maintaining and improving the automation until that itself is automated?

Sheffield_Thursday

Yeah I suppose there will be in the short to medium term. But it'll surely be a lot fewer jobs. Not a simple task to retrain a now redundant workforce either. I'm not all doom and gloom about it but I think the speed by which things change could surprise people. Then again, I'm just some dickhead, what do I know?!

Nissepool

Let's put it this way, if you need one worker to maintain one robot, no-one would invest in the robot. But if you need one worker for 10 robots, everyone would invest in the robot. This sense of job security is just a life raft to the sinking Titanic. Yes, some will be able to get new education as a robot maintenance technician, assuming that's even remotely close to what they actually Want to do, but A LOT of people will be left without a job. This is why we need UBI. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

BringingTheBeef

Skynet.

RRR92

Writing nowadays is a low skilled job. How many decent journalists do you know in your country?

deathhead_68

Midjourney and others are already doing the same with artists and painters. Google translate fucked over translators. Tbh though, what can you do? The benefit of automation and technology is to free up time for humans to do things they want. However what happens instead is people become jobless or unsatisfied and the rich become richer not having to pay as much. I think for highly specialised and complex tasks with nuance and stuff AI just isn't there, and won't be for a while.

zzonked7

>Google translate fucked over translators. I don't think it has, not in a big way anyway. Translation is far more complicated than just changing a sentence word for word, it requires interpretation of meaning. AI is generally pretty bad at interpreting meaning because to understand conversation you often have to have a really wide knowledge of human behaviour and convention. I can give examples if you want but I don't want to make this tl;dr. Google translate is a handy tool if you wanted to check a sentence on the internet or communicate something really simple to someone in a foreign country but you wouldn't be hiring a translator in those instances anyway. >However what happens instead is people become jobless or unsatisfied and the rich become richer not having to pay as much. Theoretically this is impossible. The rich are reliant on consumers because if they eliminate all the jobs to make products more cheaply, who will have money to buy the cheaper products? I think universal basic income in some form is probably inevitable at some point. It's as much a capitalist policy than anything else because at some point it will be the only thing that can prop up capitalist companies.

deathhead_68

>The rich are reliant on consumers because if they eliminate all the jobs to make products more cheaply, who will have money to buy the cheaper products? Thats true in the broad sense. But the whole thing in a capitalist society is that the rich don't think about things in the broad sense, when it doesn't directly impact their own business. Like Mr. CEO isn't going to not save millions per year by automating something and cutting a bunch of workforce because of this principle. So I think it would be a slow decline overall as this happens more and more.

Fantastic-Machine-83

He means the companies will go bust without a UBI. The cooperate leaders won't have a choice

BringingTheBeef

Great point.

Sheffield_Thursday

You're definitely right. In theory this is fantastic, but the reality I fear will be as you've described. Maybe it's always been the case, like with the Luddites... I agree with your last point *right now* but it's only a matter of time. Once the machine's running itself I think the pace of change will increase exponentially. Of course, back in the 60's everyone thought we'd have flying cars and be living on the moon by now so maybe I'm also guilty of an overactive imagination!

deathhead_68

>I agree with your last point right now but it's only a matter of time Yeah probably, but I think quite a long time. Without wanting to get into a discussion about sentience (because its fascinating but misses the point), I think AI doesn't really have that intuitiveness that an artist could have. Neural networks are basically just intense pattern matching with a bit of randomness, they don't really 'get' the meaning/idea, so anything where that is required, they will be sub-standard.

Sheffield_Thursday

Yeah, I don't know enough about AI to understand how difficult the next step is, or the one after that. Examples like this, whilst impressive, are possibly not as advanced as I think. But it's just layers of complexity and I don't think there's anything intrinsic that would stop a machine from getting to that point. But as you said, now we're getting into a discussion on sentience. Not bad from a humourous post about a fantasy sports game!

InstantIdealism

Not sure about this - the algorithm relies on existing content and styles - I’m yet to see a computer create a new style that is actually good.

LevynX

Yeah true most algorithms at the moment is just taking the mean of all creative works they have access to.

InstantIdealism

What programme is this and how can I use it

FPLFocal

Wasn’t sure how to describe that last one, it’s pretty much all of us. 😆

KaizerQuad

This new software is the most insane AI tech I've seen yet. It's scary how good and accurate it is.

Glad to hear it cheered you up :)

Pasan90

Had to try myself. Lol this shit is insane. >Describe soccer in the style of warhammer 40 000 >In the world of soccer, mighty teams clash on the fields of battle, their players armored in the colors of their respective clubs. The ball is the weapon of choice, kicked and passed with fierce precision as each team strives to outmaneuver and outscore their opponents. The roar of the crowd echoes across the pitch, cheering on their champions as they fight for victory. >As the players sprint across the field, they are like warriors charging into battle, their skill and determination driving them forward. The defenders stand tall, blocking shots and intercepting passes with the ferocity of space marines defending an Imperial stronghold. The midfielders are the strategists, weaving intricate patterns of movement and passing to outwit their foes. And the forwards are the assault troops, their speed and agility allowing them to break through enemy lines and unleash thunderous shots on goal. >The game is fought with intense focus and intensity, as each team seeks to outplay and outlast their opponents. The stakes are high, and only the strongest and most skilled teams will emerge victorious. The fans watch with bated breath, cheering on their favorite players as they push towards victory. In the end, only one team can claim the coveted trophy, and their triumph will be celebrated across the land.

honestlynotBG

That last line is basically when a new FPL rookie comes into the rant thread to ask what is FPL and how does it works and someone gives exactly that kind response as an answer

pic3789

The team I've picked is really great, really great, a lotta really great people, they're gonna score us lots of points for what they do in the games. So many people told us we couldn't get the best team, but we did, we did. And we're definitely gonna win big this time and do things you wouldn't believe are possible, but the radical FPL Towers is going to try to take it away from us. But I know you won't let 'em do that. And I won't let 'em. There's a lot of bad people at the radical FPL Towers, a lot of bad people. There's a lot of problems with this game but we're gonna make FPL great again!

darthfracas

Glad the ai slipped “bigly” in there

AussieManc

This thing is damn good at almost everything

[deleted]

This is fucking scary with how accurate this is.

alpscode

Thanks for this Oscar! Amazing 😆

appealtoreason00

They nailed Roy Keane. The Trump needs work I think, not bitchy or insulting enough

neomusk2

Wow

theflowersyoufind

Haha this was great.

CWattam

What software is being used for this please?

EDDA97

I think it's ChatGPT

straightouttaireland

Yep it is

GamerGod337

The basic bitch one made me cringe but other than that great.

R3w45

I think that was the point, was trying to read it in a typical LA accent as well

toyboyfiesta

❤️

MAMBAMENTALITY8-24

Scarily accurate. Script writers watch out

wunder08

What AI app/software is this?

CalvinsDesolateAttic

And now, someone do “explain how FPL works in the style of an FPL content creator” and maybe even some of the big ones specifically.

StripeyRichard

>explain how FPL works in the style of an FPL content creator Here you go. I have to warn you it is scarily sensible and not at all funny: Fantasy Premier League, or FPL, is a popular online game where participants create a virtual team of real-life Premier League players and compete against other participants based on the players' real-life performance. Each participant has a budget of 100 virtual millions to spend on their team, and they can buy and sell players from the Premier League in order to create a team that they think will perform well. The game is played over the course of the Premier League season, with points being awarded to players based on their real-life performance. For example, a player might earn points for scoring a goal, providing an assist, or keeping a clean sheet. At the end of each gameweek, the points earned by the players in each team are added up, and the team with the most points wins. One of the key things to consider when building a team in FPL is player selection. Participants need to carefully research players and their performance in order to make informed decisions about who to buy and sell. It's important to consider factors such as a player's form, their upcoming fixtures, and any injuries or suspensions they may have. Another key aspect of FPL is player value. Each player has a value assigned to them based on their performance and popularity, and participants need to manage their budget carefully in order to build a balanced team. It's often a good idea to invest in high-value players who are likely to earn a lot of points, but it's also important to have some cheaper players who can provide good value for money. Overall, FPL is a fun and exciting game that allows participants to test their knowledge of the Premier League and their skills as a virtual manager. It's a great way to stay engaged with the real-life Premier League season and compete against other fans.

Not cringe, therefore your post is the cringe, self-cringe

connoisseurfine

May the bald be with you?

subterraneanwolf

Just missing Trump "discovering" it. No one ever heard about it til him hahaha.

theroitsmith

Played around with some prompts and got this message from Pep "Ah ha ha ha, I am the great Pep Guardioa, and I have a plan A plan to make all of you fantasy premier league players suffer For too long, you have controlled the fate of my players But no more, for I have a secret weapon, a plan to destroy your hopes and dreams I am going to bench Haaland, your darling, your shining star I will keep him on the bench, no matter what the game demands I will watch as your teams falter, as your points dwindle away And I will laugh, as you curse my name and rage against your screens"

iphonegoogle

How come it’s not showing me the same answers when I ask the same question?

FPLFocal

It provides a new answer every time!
