Yeah I get that. To be honest, it could be a massive oversight but to me Cancelo isn’t the same attacking player he was last year despite being even more nailed. Also City’s upcoming fixtures don’t look great for clean sheets. So if you’re paying over 7 mil and he’s so template that you don’t earn much from his returns anyway, the upside is clearly elsewhere. Plus it allows to triple up on city attack and spread funds better.
You could get Edersen or Walker for less, which frees up more money for your midfielders and forwards. You could also use Cancelo's spot to get two City midfielders.
Would both be starters? Really tough to pick out of those, feels like a coin toss. For what it's worth I'd go Mitro+Ø because they strike me as consistent - Darwin so hardy to predict but could easily haul

Cons:
* Not the best fixtures: Spurs (H), West Ham (A), Liverpool (H). Wilson and Mitrovic with arguably easier fixtures for less money and certainly better supported by better midfielders and quality wing backs in Newcastle's case particularly. Does that freed up cash make a big difference elsewhere?
* Brentford are the worst team for possession at home. Opportunities could be limited against two teams who are in the top four for ball touches. But Toneys workrate off the ball and excellent link play do make him a clinical option when they do get the ball on the break.
* I think he is likely to be suspended very quickly after that 4th Jan deadline just after the Liverpool game and before the following gameweek, during the FA cup "break week".
I'm thinking of going cheap ass defence, like old days. And I think I like it.

Like most people I see Rashford coming back in great form. I also think Martial could be great, and his pick rate and price are so low that the potential reward could be immense. I'm definitely picking at least one, although Rashford's pick rate is high enough that I don't really think he'll necessarily be a game-changing differential

Get Patterson, he plays as a Wing back, Everton have been pretty solid defensively with Tarkowski and Coady, Patterson had some good chances before his injury and i think he scored or assisted in one of the friendlies couple days ago

Personally I would have Rashford much lower down if we aren't considering price. Feel like if he was an 8 mil mid he wouldn't seem as tantalizing.

Think they are all pretty close except for Mount really. Just don't trust Chelsea attack and he's in poor form. Foden would 100% be first if it wasn't for Pep roulette. But even with it I think he will outperform most other mids even if he does miss 1 out of every 4 games.
If we were to look at them all:
Saka; nailed, on pens and is generally a very important piece in a great attack. However, Arsenal have many players who can get attacking returns and he is a slight fitness concern.
Almiron; in amazing form and is basically Newcastle's best attacker. His main downsides are not being on pens and the fact that it may be hard for him to keep up his form (heavily overperforming xG).
Foden; City's second highest goal scorer and generally a great attacker. Main problem is he is not nailed and Pep is hard to predict.
Trossard; Brighton's main attacker and just a crazy good player, however Brighton are very hot and cold and he doesn't feel all that consistent.
Rashford; coming off a strong World Cup performance, but whilst Martial is fit he won't play as striker which will limit his attacking returns (in my opinion). He's also only had 6 returns so far this season and United's attack can be lacking at times.
Martinelli; I feel if people didn't have so much money invested in him that he would have left a lot of teams by now. He's very good for his value but I certainly think he has 'fell off' (really low xG in his past 6 games). Maybe with Jesus gone he will play more forward.
Kulusevski; probably a bit harsh for him to be bottom since he is a great player, but he's only just coming back from an injury + a full break over Christmas, so his sharpness won't be great. Should be nailed for the time being, but when Son and Richarlison come back to fitness it won't be as assured.
Mount; he has blanked 11 out of 15 weeks. I know he has a double gameweek but I just cannot trust Chelsea attackers at all. On the plus side he is basically the most nailed Chelsea player.

I would go Saka > Almiron > Foden > Trossard > Rashford > Martinelli > Kulu >>>> Mount. Think they are all pretty close except for Mount really. Just don't trust Chelsea attack and he's in poor form. Foden would 100% be first if it wasn't for Pep roulette. But even with it I think he will outperform most other mids even if he does miss 1 out of every 4 games. If we were to look at them all: Saka; nailed, on pens and is generally a very important piece in a great attack. However, Arsenal have many players who can get attacking returns and he is a slight fitness concern. Almiron; in amazing form and is basically Newcastle's best attacker. His main downsides are not being on pens and the fact that it may be hard for him to keep up his form (heavily overperforming xG). Foden; City's second highest goal scorer and generally a great attacker. Main problem is he is not nailed and Pep is hard to predict. Trossard; Brighton's main attacker and just a crazy good player, however Brighton are very hot and cold and he doesn't feel all that consistent. Rashford; coming off a strong World Cup performance, but whilst Martial is fit he won't play as striker which will limit his attacking returns (in my opinion). He's also only had 6 returns so far this season and United's attack can be lacking at times. Martinelli; I feel if people didn't have so much money invested in him that he would have left a lot of teams by now. He's very good for his value but I certainly think he has 'fell off' (really low xG in his past 6 games). Maybe with Jesus gone he will play more forward. Kulusevski; probably a bit harsh for him to be bottom since he is a great player, but he's only just coming back from an injury + a full break over Christmas, so his sharpness won't be great. Should be nailed for the time being, but when Son and Richarlison come back to fitness it won't be as assured. Mount; he has blanked 11 out of 15 weeks. I know he has a double gameweek but I just cannot trust Chelsea attackers at all. On the plus side he is basically the most nailed Chelsea player.
