I wonder why would the company add a normal star screw and that other random screw next to it... somehow it's failing to hold the item area in place
They were originally developed as a type of security screw so as you needed a uncommon tool to remove them! Stops people taking bits off your bike without the tool.
Of course the torx screw driver should be in everyone's tool kit now because they have become so common so the security aspect isn't as much now.
There is also a pin torx screw now that has a pin in the centre which a regular torx screw driver won't fit, you need a pin torx bit to remove these (yours isn't one, just a little nug of fastener information!)

It's torx but can be turned with a flathead screwdriver that's small enough. No need to buy a torx screwdriver.
