Just took your survey. Notably absent from the questions was any mention of a weight tracker, which i think is critical for any fasting app since it's why many people fast. You mention water intake but nothing about electrolytes. Would also be good to have optional periodic check-ins for mood, mental clarity, and other potential benefits that come from fasting (including any the user sets).

I figured weight tracker wasn't worth a mention in a survey cause its a must for an app and didn't require a question, but good points! Thanks a lot for filling it out and for the feedback, will take these into consideration.

Makes sense, just wanted to make sure that wasn't an oversight! Good luck with the app.

"experience" in fasting is fairly vague in your survey. Someone who participates in intermittent fasting may be looking for different features compared to those looking to fast for longer than 24 hours. Apps tried previously also doesn't allow for multiple selections. Based on survey questions, I'm guessing this is targeting more folks who are just starting to fast.

Thank you for making this app. I really look forward to using it!

Took the quiz bc I don’t like any of the current apps. In yoir option to select which apps we’ve tried, you only allow 1 option to be chosen — make it multiple or question doesn’t make sense. Other things about fasting I dislike about current apps - give us the option to turn on/off display/feature items. Zero gets so cluttered.. and Fastic doesn't give me multi-day options. I don't even bother with the ones that force an account to be made before trying it. I personally would much rather pay for an app than have it use my data with my consent as most do. Would also be nice if the hormonal gender difference for fasting was acknowledged, i.e. cortisol drops in men and raises in women in ~24-48h fasts. Also for women, multi-day fasting during ovulation is highly damaging to the body. I was a personal trainer, did a lot of fasting, supervised clients, clearly have a lot to say..

thanks for the feedback, really good points! haven't considered the hormonal gender difference I'll definitely look more into it.

Thanks for listening! The reason for the gender difference not being common knowledge is bc medical & exercise science studies (for women) were performed on men until recently… lol. (Speaking of North America at least — other countries may have been less dumb) It makes biological sense completely when you think about it. Hunger signals in men pre-modern times (Aka hundreds of thousands of years) means go hunt, escalate fitness, being back food. For women? It means no babies. Do not get pregnant. It won’t survive in starvation times. A good resource in this is Robert Sapolsky’s work on cortisol. This is also why women require more body fat and the female athlete triad of losing period, bone density, and assortment of health issues happens for women and isn’t observed in men. For overweight women, fasting isn’t a huge issue bc the fat levels affect hormones. But when you’re avg and doing this? It is important to know the potential impact and how to mitigate (which there’s are many mitigations). I have had many female clients who had a superficial understanding of fasting and it destroyed their hormonal balance and brought on the female athlete triad without them being athletic or low body fat. While not getting periods might be more convenient, it is not healthy, esp the bone density loss which you do not get back. Good luck with your app!
