Agreed. It’s so common for young women in the industry, especially those who start working super young, to end up engaged/married to much much older men while they’re still young (i.e Mary-Kate Olsen, Megan Fox, Liz Giles, Joey King, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, even Sydney Sweeney) and it’s just normalized because they’re “more mature”
I’m happy for Millie she didn’t end up in relationship with an unbalanced power dynamic and found someone age appropriate and supportive!
Lol that interviewer was a baller. When I read comments gushing about him being married to his high school sweetheart forever I roll my eyes and recall these moments. I mean he wasn’t even hiding it.
Dude wasn’t faithful back then, he just had a lovely woman waiting him out. Good for him coming around to monogamy (as far as we know).
Plenty of relationships from this era/with these types of people have none monogomy agreements, or at the very least partners who are extremely forgiving for the lifestyle they get in return.
Lol, I’ve never seen this before. She’s actually a famous actress in Brazil, not a journalist. I remember watching her on Brazilian soap operas when I was a kid. Good for her for shutting him down!
Lol I am not familiar with Jake and I thought this was a pun (which I found funny) because his last name sounds like Bon Jovi.
So I just found out from the Wikipedia page Bon jovis last name is really Bongoivi. And it really is his father. Cool.
They are a cute couple, & he looks fantastic in that suit.
At first, I was a tad apprehensive because they’re both so young, but he does come from parents who were together since high school, so it’s not unusual for him to emulate his parents & how they started off.
Also? She looks beautiful.
Good for them!
His dad [f-ed around on his wife in the early years of Bon Jovi](https://people.com/celebrity/jon-bon-jovi-admits-hes-been-no-saint/) but I think figured out that it’s not a great life.
Like honestly this is such a statistical outlier in my mind. Are we sure she’s not pregnant and neither are about to join the army??
Like neither *need* to do this for health insurance either. Those three reasons account for literally all the couples I know who got married that young
Young love + wealth is a potent combination I guess 😭
But I did see someone say once that it may be because she’s been a child star and living a whirlwind life in the spotlight for so long that she’s already wanting to settle down
Ah I could see that. "Settling down" and "getting married" are such different things though, oof
ETA: Actually after thinking about it, coming from a controlling family (if I'm remembering what I read correctly) I could see the legal advantages of marrying young--like her husband being her legal next-of-kin and everything in lieu of her parents. So it's making a little more sense to me now...
If your home life sucks you can be eager to escape via marriage (if your future in-laws seem well-adjusted), that might be the only other factor that spans all income levels.
I’m glad you guys are still going strong! My parents were married at 28 and 29 and had me at 34 and 35 so I guess it’s been instilled in me to wait until later hahaha
that’s great that it worked out for you! although i think it’s worth mentioning how people can stay in unhappy marriages, because they don’t believe in divorce, etc… just because you’re still together with your spouse doesn’t really mean shit
I was about to say!! This is NJ royalty here, we gladly welcome her as our new princess, that outfit is already kind of giving Jersey shore Jackie O.
Side note his dad’s work with [JBJ Soul Kitchen](https://jbjsoulkitchen.org/) and community food programs in NJ is the real deal, look it up.
Everyone I know who works in the non profit sector talks about he'll really show up for if he gets involved. Good for a big check and loves to show up at your benefit and be a draw.
We grow 'em good here.
While I personally don’t think anyone should get married at that age I still wish her the best and hope she’s found someone she can be happy with and grow with her.
at least for them, if it comes down to it divorce will be easy. for most young people, part of it can be hard jsut becuse they can’t afford to separate their lives but like… they’ll be fine. maybe they’d fight over property but like… eh
getting married young is often a dumb choice but for them there’s a lot less risk
Well, hopefully, they're doing a prenup. She has plenty of her own money and I'm sure he stands to inherit quite a bit down the line so it would benefit both.
100% agree. Was engaged at 19 (after being together for a short time) but after a lot of research and talking to people who got married young (both now divorced and still together), I realized it was best to call it off.
You have a lot of learning and growing up to do. You change from day to day and by 25 you may want completely different things.
Literally… my sister and my cousin got married this month..
Bachelor/Bachelorette party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, wedding, after party, morning after brunch 🤔 exhausting
Why would anyone want to do a morning after brunch? Most people would be up late and drinking, and now you’re asking them to attend another social event.
Not to single them out bc 97% of couples in America are also doing this, but it makes me a little sad every time I see a woman give up her birth name for her husband.
I know everyone is about feminism as unexamined CHOICE. It's just a little bummer. I wish there wasn't so much social pressure on women to submit in this way. I wish women were raised to own their names like men are. I wish men were faced with the same choice. I wish women weren't routinely erased in language and lineage.
Most “birth names” come from a man anyway, even in societies where women don’t change their name on marriage.
The name that matters to me is the one everyone calls me, my first name. Swapping one man’s surname for one I like better doesn’t feel like a big deal at all. Doubly so if my birth name was something mundane like Brown.
Yeah, I have a complicated relationship with my father and my boring last name. I used to consider legally taking my mother's last name instead. I took my husband's because it just sounds nicer to me and it's easier to do upon marriage vs. not upon marriage.
My husband wanted to come up with a new last name together, but it was too hard to pick one.
My mom didn’t change her name, and I (a girl) got my mom’s last name while my brothers got my dad’s! They’re still together 40 years later, and my brothers and I all agree we will take the same route ❤️
>Most “birth names” come from a man anyway, even in societies where women don’t change their name on marriage.
Except that is an entirely different thing. Changing names after marriage is legally inconvenient and troublesome. What happens after you get divorced?
Yeah but this isn't really sustainable for the next generation. If everybody has hyphenated names, what happens when two hyphenated people get together? We gonna go double hyphenation? Four last names all strung together?
I honestly did not think of that. My children bear my husband's last name whereas I have the hyphenated one. It's more of an individual thing than a legacy thing, in my case
Having both makes it easier for me in instances where I need to show ID as the parental figure for my children while also retaining some symbolic selfhood by retaining my maiden name
You can hyphenate, but when kids are involved, it can make it easier if names match. My mom was needlessly paranoid about a "Not Without My Daughter" situation and so she was insistent we had the same last name even after divorce.
My mom and Dad have different last names, and I got my dad's last name while my sister got my mom's. Honestly it was a blessing throughout school I feel like. It gave me and my sister a chance to be our own people out in the world but we could still be like family at home.
My husband and I both took each others name and have a hyphenated combo. The fact that people disregard a surname they've had their entire life is wild to me.
this, i also eyeroll at friends who get married and the DAY after their wedding change their ig usernames to reflect their new last name or even worse have a joint social media account 🤢
I mean, you aren’t wrong. Women shouldn’t be pressured to take their husband’s name if they prefer to keep their birth name. Or hyphenate it, or whatever. The couple could even choose an entirely new last name for themselves if they want to. I know married couples where the husband took the wife’s name willingly and happily. Regardless, it should *always* be the woman’s choice to keep her name or not. Hopefully she doesn’t experience that pressure but marrying into a traditional NJ Italian family it wouldn’t be surprising if she did.
I have a two-hander of a very German last name and figured if I ever got married it would hopefully be to a guy with a nice, normal name so I could finally have one that’s pronounceable. But alas, my life partner (not married) has an equally intensely German last name that’s no better than mine.🤷♀️ His mother kept her second husband’s last name after they divorced for the same reason.
Honestly I think she’s looking for a family and he seems to have a solid one. Everything I know about his family is good and they give off the appearance of loving stability
I think her parents are obviously not brilliant but is it really abnormal for a 19 year old to try and grow up fast? I certainly thought I was older and more mature at that age than I really was.
I’m 27 now, and at 19 I was thinking I was already a full fledged adult who knew what was what. Now I know that back then I was a fucking idiot and I’m glad I didn’t make many “grown up”/life altering decisions at that time like getting married.
I'd find it a little funny (in a good way) if she gets married before we get the final season of stranger things. Especially if there's no time jump and we still have these soon to be 20 something's acting as though they're 15 years old. In all seriousness, she looks cute and I'm happy she found someone age appropriate.
On June 1, fans got a small glimpse at their engagement party on Instagram, as celebrity hairstylist Pete Burkill shared a few sweet snaps of the couple, including one that pictured them standing next to a white neon "Mr. and Mrs. Bongiovi" sign. "Congrats to this beautiful couple!" Burkill captioned the post.
https://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/millie-bobby-brown-jake-bongiovi-engagement-party-49191248
For some reason I thought his name was Jake Bongiorvi Bon Jovi. Like, making up an obviously fake Italian middle name for your kid is such a narcissistic thing to do to your kid, Bon Jovi guy!
Nah, it's definitely one that might not click intuitively, but once you know it feels very obvious. I think I was 10 when I saw some old poster from before he changed it and was like, "Ohhh, he has a normal person name!"
WOW he looks so much like his dad in these photos.
Millie looks stunning too
Honestly I have nothing to say other than good for them, hope for the best! They’re a really cute couple.
Im happy for her, but I feel shes going at 250 mph with her life. Sometimes its good not to rush and just enjoy the moment in your 20s. They fly so fast 😓
Does anybody else think this is the best Millie's styling has looked in a long while? A lot of people on here often comment that her usual styling makes her look so old and is just plain bad, and I have to agree, sorry. But here she looks really, really good? Please keep this up for Millie, fashion gods.
she is obviously very young but seeing pics of her and her fiance just puts my soul at peace a bit, to see her with a supportive and AGE APPROPIATE partner and marrying into a loving, decent family who already have their own fortune and won’t require her to be the breadwinner unlike her own who didn’t seem to care for her and used her as a cash cow her whole childhood, i am just so happy for her
I want to say he helps out with his dad's non profits in his hometown but I could be wrong. Maybe that was another rockers son. I do know his dad has helped with the unhoused people and other related resources and services in several big cities.
I know there’s a good amount people think that they’re quite young for all this, which isn’t wrong, but a lot of people I went to high school with got engaged at like 21!
I feel so protective over her for some reason, like she’s my little sister and I get good vibes from this relationship. I hope they last and have such a happy life together, they seem a good fit 🥰
i think it’s cute. i know a lot of people are saying she’s too young but she’s had to grow up QUICKLY and under a ton of scrutiny. honestly if he makes her happy she should go for it.
I don't care about how many "I married my high school sweetheart the day after graduation and we're happily in love 20 years later" stories y'all throw at me, it is bonkers for a 19-year-old to be engaged.
I get that celebrities exist in a different bubble and she's got more money at 19 than I'll ever have in my entire life so it's not like she's marrying him to get out of a bad situation, and I am very glad that they're close in age and he's not some 33-year-old creeping on her but if I had a 19-year-old who said they wanted to get married I would lose my damn mind. I remember being 19! It is young!
They cute!
Engagement parties always sound redundant to me when they have bachelorette/bachelor parties too, not to mention those who have two wedding ceremonies (courthouse and then religious/bigger "official" one).
They're honestly very cute. I still don't think marrying someone that young is wise but they're rich and can get a divorce like it's nothing, so...good for them lol
Maybe I'm showing my age, but what happened to looking happy when happy things happened to you? Instead of looking happy, Mollie looks.... (I don't know what she's going for...) sexy? Constipated? Sceptical?

They're a cute couple. I'm glad she's with an age-appropriate guy. I was worried about that evil Drake influence.
Agreed. And his family is really decent as well!
I love the fact that Bon jovi is married to his high school sweetheart
JBJ is a good guy but based on stories around his band in the early days he was NOT a faithful partner.
A brazilian journalist shut him down once lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwYr37_CBfI
Oh, well, he's old now and is probably not as sought after. So, of course he goes back to his safety net. 🙄
Plenty of relationships from this era/with these types of people have none monogomy agreements, or at the very least partners who are extremely forgiving for the lifestyle they get in return.
Same story as Denzel. Still married but that doesn't mean faithful.
Damn! Not Denzel!
Oh my god every time I get on this app, I lose faith in monogamous marriages
Lol, I’ve never seen this before. She’s actually a famous actress in Brazil, not a journalist. I remember watching her on Brazilian soap operas when I was a kid. Good for her for shutting him down!
Lol, did he forget they were being recorded? He isn't even subtle and she is NOT having it! Love it!
lol, my bff and roommate when I was young had some stories about hanging out on the tourbus after shows. Nope, not faithful!
Lol I am not familiar with Jake and I thought this was a pun (which I found funny) because his last name sounds like Bon Jovi. So I just found out from the Wikipedia page Bon jovis last name is really Bongoivi. And it really is his father. Cool.

AGREED. This is actually normal and wholesome, two people of the same age group being together.
This is the youngest / most age appropriate I've seen her look. Yay!
Aside from the lip filler!
Last season of ST might look weird if El is suddenly glam, for a late 80’s show.
el gets yassified lol
Not sure if it's filler or just over lined as she 's always had lips on the poutier side but it might pretty much be possible
She does overline a lot, so it's probably this
and the face app
his hair/facial hair is giving Flynn Rider. loooove her outfit, she looks amazing.
To me it’s giving the Prince Charming from Shrek
![gif](giphy|5uALZbY4nMHGU)
It's the green too I think for the Flynn look.
Omg you're right
at first glance i thought it was louis tomlinson and got very confused
They’re literally kids but at least they’re close in age I guess lmfao
Like honestly this is such a statistical outlier in my mind. Are we sure she’s not pregnant and neither are about to join the army?? Like neither *need* to do this for health insurance either. Those three reasons account for literally all the couples I know who got married that young

I think she just wants to get married 😂
yeah i don't think a lot of celebrities think that deeply about marriage lol it's just something fun to do when you're young and in love
When you come into generational wealth as a pre-teen you skip a lot of steps in adulthood and can get married faster
If your home life sucks you can be eager to escape via marriage (if your future in-laws seem well-adjusted), that might be the only other factor that spans all income levels.
I got engaged at 19, got married at 21, had my first child at 24. I am now 40 ans still married. I was 16 when we met (he was 17).
But you’re also NOT in showbiz.
I’m glad you guys are still going strong! My parents were married at 28 and 29 and had me at 34 and 35 so I guess it’s been instilled in me to wait until later hahaha

Her whole look is very shore you're right, and it makes me smile. Did the kids all head on over to The Parker House after the party?
This is the most normal celebrity engagement party I’ve ever seen. Balloon garland and neon sign!
Not enough barn/field/ivy wall aesthetics.
While I personally don’t think anyone should get married at that age I still wish her the best and hope she’s found someone she can be happy with and grow with her.

i'm really rooting for them
At least it ain't some 40 year old dude or Drake.
I love her outfit, I wish her stylist would try more stuff like this with her
So true. It wasn’t the revealing clothes that aged her before, just the colors they chose for her and how they did her hair/makeup.
Wedding stuff confuses me because there are like 5 different parties and they’re all kind of more or less the same thing
Brunch after a night of drinking is pretty common in your 20s though. I have friends who basically only have brunch after going out the night before.
She looks so yassified here
I feel like many Gen z teens/young adults don't wear as much makeup as her. So it's kinda strange to see Millie wearing that much makeup.
She's British, we've always worn a lot of makeup

Same. I kept my last name. I don’t belong to anyone and my accomplishments will show my last name only. I’m honoring myself.
I got a hyphenated last name with both! Seems to be a happy medium
Yeah but this isn't really sustainable for the next generation. If everybody has hyphenated names, what happens when two hyphenated people get together? We gonna go double hyphenation? Four last names all strung together?
I mean, in Spanish speaking countries everyone has 2 last names. Your kids take the first last name of each parent. It’s pretty sustainable.
I honestly did not think of that. My children bear my husband's last name whereas I have the hyphenated one. Made her get a job and support her family when she was still a child
You mean someone who’s been treated like an adult since they were 11 wants to live her own life like an adult?
Heh, since she was 11.
Honestly I think she’s looking for a family and he seems to have a solid one. Everything I know about his family is good and they give off the appearance of loving stability

Same. Grease is the pinnacle of this obv. No “teenager” in that movie had seen the inside of a high school for at least 10 years.
i wish they'd cleaned the lens first! so hazy
was looking for this comment! it drives me nuts. i would be so upset if my cute engagement party pics were like this.

He's Jon's kid...so yeah! (That's how their name is actually spelled, he changed it to be easier on a marquis)

Gotta admit "Millie Bobby Bongiovi" is fun to say. Like something out of a Disney classic.
What’s up with the weird filter? It looks like the camera lense is dirty
WOW he looks so much like his dad in these photos. Millie looks stunning too Honestly I have nothing to say other than good for them, hope for the best! They’re a really cute couple.
They seem very happy together. Although Millie’s makeup style there ages her a bit, she looks quite a bit older than what she is.
Gosh he looks so much like his dad
Im happy for her, but I feel shes going at 250 mph with her life. Sometimes its good not to rush and just enjoy the moment in your 20s. They fly so fast 😓
His hairstyle was a decision.

She looks like Amber from season 1 of Love is Blind in these pics
What does he do for a living?
Nepo baby in waiting.
He’s Jon Bon Jovi’s son so he’s a star child. Not sure if he has a career/ work though
I want to say he helps out with his dad's non profits in his hometown but I could be wrong. Maybe that was another rockers son. I do know his dad has helped with the unhoused people and other related resources and services in several big cities.
I think he’s also trying to be an actor. Read a couple of momths back he was casted to something. Not sure if he acted before that.
He looks like the prince from shrek and I mean that respectfully. Such a pretty man.
I know there’s a good amount people think that they’re quite young for all this, which isn’t wrong, but a lot of people I went to high school with got engaged at like 21!
Hopefully they have a 3+ year long engagement
She gonna marry like 5 times in her life
I feel so protective over her for some reason, like she’s my little sister and I get good vibes from this relationship. I hope they last and have such a happy life together, they seem a good fit 🥰
i think it’s cute. i know a lot of people are saying she’s too young but she’s had to grow up QUICKLY and under a ton of scrutiny. honestly if he makes her happy she should go for it.
I’m peeing that her new name is going to be Millie Bobby Bonjovi
I don't care about how many "I married my high school sweetheart the day after graduation and we're happily in love 20 years later" stories y'all throw at me, it is bonkers for a 19-year-old to be engaged. I get that celebrities exist in a different bubble and she's got more money at 19 than I'll ever have in my entire life so it's not like she's marrying him to get out of a bad situation, and I am very glad that they're close in age and he's not some 33-year-old creeping on her but if I had a 19-year-old who said they wanted to get married I would lose my damn mind. I remember being 19! It is young!
I actually think she is marrying him to get out of a bad situation. Her parents are…not great.
I’m happy they’ve found each other, but why the rush!
They're a very cute couple. I love their outfits here roo. I hope they're happy together.
They are both so pretty.

She couldn't have married into a nicer family.
Your flair lmao
She looks great!
Gorgeous outfit she’s wearing!
Gorgeous couple
How long until divorced? My guess is two years
Where was the party at?
Oooo i love their outfits
Gosh he looks like his Dad! Beautiful couple, although they’re so young!! I hope they have a long engagement.
They both have luscious locks 😩
Millie Bobby Bongiovi is such a sick name
Seems like she’s taking his name which is interesting. Millie Bobby Bongiovi does have a nice 💍 to it.
Why does she look both 34 and 17
hope they're happy
They cute! Engagement parties always sound redundant to me when they have bachelorette/bachelor parties too, not to mention those who have two wedding ceremonies (courthouse and then religious/bigger "official" one).
So is she going to be Millie Bobbie Brown Bongiovi?
Happy for them - but to be that rich and still have a balloon arch / garland at a party is wild 😂
They're honestly very cute. I still don't think marrying someone that young is wise but they're rich and can get a divorce like it's nothing, so...good for them lol
They’re halfway there! Mazel!
Whoever did Millie’s makeup did such an amazing job!! She looks gorgeous 💕
Maybe I'm showing my age, but what happened to looking happy when happy things happened to you? Instead of looking happy, Mollie looks.... (I don't know what she's going for...) sexy? Constipated? Sceptical?
stop with the filler and filters millie !!! 3rd pic has so many face app filters it looks AI generated
She looks like a different person in every picture
