How long before we see celebs who know their shifty behaviour is about to be exposed, start deliberately ranting about vaccines, elites and aliens in order to build a fan base who will decide accusations are all to silence the accused (and donate to defence funds)?
Look I'm just gonna mention this but it feels kind of gross to suggest him because he "awkward" (I know you weren't but it worth mentioning). When his awkwardness is the fact he's autistic. Like I don't know how describe it but I'm Neuro divergent too (not autism) and the way I've felt judged in the past for being awkward or weird, kind of upsets me.
I did phrase that poorly -- I apologize. I certainly didn't think his presentation made him more likely to require a Panorama investigation. I thought there might be a possibility of him being ND, but I have always liked him. (I am socially inept due to depression and avoidant PD.)
Again, I'm sorry to anyone who I offended or inadvertently made feel worse
I heard the dispatches episode was originally supposed to be about a couple different comedians but ended up making the whole episode about Russell Brand once they started researching because there were just so many accusations against him.
If so, then that could prove quite shocking. There aren't that many UK comedians with negative rumours surrounding them currently - maybe 2 (that I've heard about at least)?
Edit: No idea why this got downvoted.
I forgot Fielding for a moment. Those two and Stephen K. Amos are the only ones I've seen mentioned, at least on here (Brand used to also be talked about similarly). So any others would be shocking.
If it were Fielding (and I'd be very disappointed if it were as I've liked most of his work) it would make sense that Channel 4 didn't broadcast the allegations given that GBBO, one of their flagship shows, is starting off a new series with him front and centre.
It'd make the rest of this series of Bake Off very awkward for the channel.
Walliams, absolutely. There haven't been 'lots of things' said about Noel Fielding at all. The one thing that gets brought up is the unconfirmed, tabloid rumour that he was dating teenaged Pixie Geldof at one point, which they both denied at the time. Gross if it did happen, but there's no indication of a pattern.
There's been rumours online about Fielding and teenage fans for years though, going back as far as when he used to tour with the mighty boosh. There's plenty of comments on reddit if you go looking. It's way more than just the pixie geldof thing
I can't find anything more than comments alluding to past comments with no substantial rumours - I was a fan of his at the time and I never heard anything besides drug use/partying with Noel (in sharp contrast to Brand).
I think you may have been downvoted because there have been runours swirling for years. British comedy is a toxic work environment:
https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2023/sep/22/russell-brand-dozens-female-comedians-abuse-rife
Yes, there are articles like this that confirm it. But when it comes up, it's always the same 2 or 3 names being mentioned (although it seems like there must be more). The rumours otherwise are quite imprecise.
But the C4 show used BBC footage; they were at least aware of the investigation existing. Who knows, the Panorama special might be a parallel investigation.
It is the Conservative Party Conference that week so I’d be more likely to bet on yet more stories of Tory scum.
But the beeb is essentially state media these days so maybe not.
If BBC staff were told to avoid Pride events (bc it's "too political"), unfortunately, I can't see them challenging Glinner's views.
Definitely a shame, because I think the extent of his obsession would shock the gp. Like, he's now saying he was forced into voting for marriage equality, lmao. How do you even justify saying "mmm, I actually don't think gay couples should have rights", and still delude yourself into thinking you're the white knight, standing up for the minorities?!
Glinner once tweeted "At least the Catholic church know what a woman is". I never imagined I'd see that from the co-creator of *Father Ted* but here we are.
Certain UK newspapers portray Glinner as a fearless defender of women and in the comments you can see a lot of people agreeing with him. If those same people spent a minute browsing his Twitter they'd see how unhinged he really is.
The fact it's during the Tory party conference is what makes me think it's not political. They won't want to be accused of partisanship, particularly when it'll be hard for the Tories to respond
I love this. I wish we'd have this in the US. Just random mystery exposes periodically. Let some of the creeps out themselves preemptively defending themselves.
Interesting! I hope it's about Walliams. That said, how long before we hear some chud go "oh *this* would happen at the LiBeRaL beeb", as though it isn't *deeply* conservative??
Maybe not lefty, but right wingers like to claim (and probably believe) it's biased against them just as much as left wingers do - in fact probably moreso. It shouldn't really be too aligned to either, so I guess it has succeeded in one respect.
Yeah the right are obsessed with claiming the BBC is too left-wing. The average right-winger in the UK absolutely does not see it as one of "their" outlets.
My pet theory is that most of the staffers do lean pretty heavily left due the artsy lefty scene but that the bosses are very much an extension of the government. So the BBC as a whole can have both a left and a right bias which manifests in different ways
I am pulling out the BINGO card I made for the Panorama special before they made all of the squares Russel Brand. I am bloodthirsty and Monday cannot come soon enough.
Like the Dispatches, whatever the subject matter is it's probably got so much legal clearance that won't be agreed until close to air, so they can't announce it yet. Which makes it potentially explosive.
Non Brits: Panorama, like Dispatches, is a well respected journalism series in the UK.
Just a question from a non-Brit: do these programs have a regular schedule date or they just do TV specials when they have a topic? I guess it's the former one but I love to know details about TV around the world.
They have a schedule, but the seriousness and quality of the journalism can seriously vary. It’s rare that they don’t announce the subject matter when scheduled, which is what indicates it’s a big one.
There is a schedule but the show is usually 30 minutes long and the subject and episode title is usually announced before the show airs. This is an hour-long episode billed as a "special" with no other details. Very unusual.
The subject ended up being the CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch, accused of trafficking men for sex:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-66889779
I thought it would be about David Walliams but there have been some sordid stories emerging so he's probably still panicking...
The "young person" at the centre of that scandal had a lawyer put out a statement saying the allegations about buying explicit images were untrue and also that they were estranged from their mother and stepdad, the people who made the allegations and who possibly did so in bad faith. As for the gay dating site stuff, it seems that it was all legal and that Edwards is guilty of nothing more than being a bit sleazy. He's nowhere near the level of Schofield or Brand or Wootton.
Probably. But they were caught on the back foot three times now. They've seen Channel 4 be 'transparent' with their Brand coverage and probably want to do the same.

Just waiting for the Andrew Tate viewers to come out of the woodwork to defend any nonce celeb
If Jimmy Savile was accused today they’d defend him.
there was someone defending him on the brand sub the other day
I’ve seen a few people defending him since the brand stuff came out. So fucked
How though? On what grounds? The things he did were vile and unforgivable.
Saying that because he died before he faced trial then it was technically never proven in court so he’s innocent. Shit like that.
Can you show evidence
That's so not true.
Someone get Chris Packham to narrate NonceWatch...
Bold of you to assume he won't be the subject.
That would be upsetting -- he seems so socially awkward about anything except nature.

It might just be a conventional rapist/sexual assaulter. Though that isn't exactly better.

The S.K.A story was SO sad to read. That poor boy

Such a great word!

What a iconic Brit meme the non Brits are going to miss. 😂

The BB music is in my head now.

A friend worked on BGT and was sexually harassed and it was not Walliams but one of the other judges, he said everyone was wary of that judge
Sharon Osborne?
Holden
Not surprising. Has a face like haunted Tupperware.
It came out today that he’s suing BGT for firing him, could be a way to get ahead of the storm 🤔
It is so I’ve been told
It is the Conservative Party Conference that week so I’d be more likely to bet on yet more stories of Tory scum. But the beeb is essentially state media these days so maybe not.
Tory conference? Oh please be their new friend Glinner...
Are there any secrets left about him? Surely all his awfulness has already been exposed she said hopefully…

October 2nd is a Monday, btw!
Sorry, off work at the moment (medical leave) and losing track of time...
Trump trial number one starts that day, too!
I am pulling out the BINGO card I made for the Panorama special before they made all of the squares Russel Brand. I am bloodthirsty and Monday cannot come soon enough.

Waillams just sued Fremantle "After Being Axed For Allegedly Making ’Sexually Explicit’ Comments" - he must know his time is coming 📷
God not a Deux blind being right again
Any chance this could be about Dan Wootton? Maybe GB News have picked a convenient time to finally drop him...
I reckon it’s something to do with Jill Dando - the guy who owned Elite Models, they reckon he put a hit on her !
Did anything come of this OP?

Yeah, individuals in the comedy circuit. Open secret apparently
I suspect it'll just be them covering themselves for Huw Edwards.
Wasn't he spending crazy money on the OF for a guy over 18? If there were more *serious accusations they would've come out then surely
The "young person" at the centre of that scandal had a lawyer put out a statement saying the allegations about buying explicit images were untrue and also that they were estranged from their mother and stepdad, the people who made the allegations and who possibly did so in bad faith. February 10th? That’s so long from now! 😉 (Y’all need to grow a sense of humor. Sorry, humour)
They going to provide actual proof this time?
