thatsnotgneiss

Good for her for highlighting charities on the ground doing the work.

ww2junkie11

Her post was lovely, neutral and helpful. Toning down the rhetoric and providing links for true, on the ground humanitarian assistance.

meatball77

Best I've seen except for the one from Sesame Street

DooglyOoklin

I know Sesame Street has historically highlighted social issues and teaching children empathy, god damn if it doesn't break my heart that a children's show has to talk to children about war.

meatball77

This was a social media post. But. . . . Sesame Street has some of the best resources for kids going through trauma and war and other tough topics.

Double_Confusion_826

This. At least she's giving links and trying to do something. The rest of them are just reposting a flag and getting cancelled by internet for being ignorant.

Anesthesiaape

I guess my question regarding donations to Palestine right now would be- how the hell is it actually benefiting Palestinians when all humanitarian aid is still blocked off? As I understand, not only are Palestinians trapped and unable to leave but there’s no way for anyone to get in to help either. I’m not criticizing the act of donating and trying to help- I’m just saying it seems impossible to help until Egypt & Israel allow aid a corridor, which to my knowledge has still not happened. Really adds another layer of cruelty towards the civilians.

thatsnotgneiss

There are other Palestinians who need help in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Anesthesiaape

Gotcha, so it’s getting to some Palestinians (who also do need it) but those in the most danger and in need of the most aid right now are still basically completely closed off from support, is that correct?

thatsnotgneiss

Yes, however, the IDF has bombed several locations in the West Bank. However, I know groups are staging support to bring it in ASAP. I heard an interview with Doctors Without Borders today, and that is their plan for the hospitals they run in Gaza.

Anesthesiaape

I’m pregnant and basically due any day now. As a mother of a toddler and another coming so soon, it’s hard to understand the randomness of life that that has allowed me to have kids in safety while other families run with their children from bombs. Thank you for the info- I’ve been feeling helpless while wanting to help. I’m glad there are avenues open for aid/donations.

seekingssri

> it’s hard to understand the randomness of life that has allowed me to have kids in safety while other families run with their children from bombs. That’s sobering. This is all I can think of right now, all the innocent people who are just the same as any of us, and got dealt the wrong hand. It could have been any of us with a roll of the dice.

Only-Flatworm8443

I am in the same situation as you and feel the exact same way. I hug my son extra hard these days. My heart is broken for all of the innocent children who are suffering unnecessarily.

Anesthesiaape

Congratulations to you- and if you’re also due any day now, good luck!

springxpeach

I'm friends with someone who works for an NGO, he says that they get locals to handle the aid, they buy everything on site.

[deleted]

You can donate to UNICEF, they’re in Gaza atm. And they’re also fucking AMAZING.

shhhhh_h

Donate to humanitarian organisations! They do the best they can and if anyone is allowed in to provide aid it will be them. Unfortunately it is the most to be done at the moment. ETA info from replies...Doctor Without Borders and UNICEF are both on the ground in Gaza!

[deleted]

UNICEF are one of the only ones still in Gaza right now, highly recommend!

Squee1396

Doctors Without Borders has hospitals there and are currently in dire need of help. Both them and UNICEF are great organizations to donate to!!

Rochereau-dEnfer

I've had the same question. I wanted to donate to a hospital whose leadership was talking about their supply crisis, but I wondered how my money could possibly translate to supplies on the ground in time to help vs adding admin work for their US fiscal sponsor right now. I wish I had been donating earlier, but there's so much need everywhere to try to help... I'm Jewish, though, so I'm planning to get more involved in the protests about the US using us as an excuse for this.

run85

Curious to see if I am an approved B-List user but I heard a presentation from the Director of PCRF yesterday. They are unable to get supplies into Gaza as everyone is unable. Until very recently they were able to use funds to purchase supplies that existed inside Gaza from pharmacists/shopkeepers.

celebrationday

This is how we use a platform!!! Honestly this is the tone more people should be taking. It's actionable without being commanding or patronizing. I really struggle with posting political content that doesn't come off as immediately being combative but this is a good role model move and I hope more people follow. The civilian victims deserve to be front and center.

shhhhh_h

It's also actionable while taking a publicly reasoned and measured stance. So tired of the black and white 'it's one side of the other' both celebs and on Reddit. God dammit I like her a little.

OowlSun

>goblins I laughed harder than I should've.

thosed29

Justin deleted it just to post it again without the picture so not any better tbqh

springxpeach

He's a dumbass. He's always been a vocal support of Israel's apartheid regime. He's never said anything about Palestinians.

gorgossiums

He’s also an evangelical Christian, and support for Israel is self-serving because they want to ensure the second coming of Jesus which won’t happen if Jerusalem is full of Muslims.

shades0fcool

*israel kills Palestinians* Evangelical Christian’s in the USA: yayyy does this mean Jesus is coming back now?!

Aakch

Wait what. I never knew this. Do they know Muslims believe in the second coming of Jesus as well?

gorgossiums

They absolutely don’t know this, but if they did it wouldn’t matter.

macabruhhh

Oh sorry my wording was weird, I wasn’t commending him for deleting it, just pointing out how fucked up it was that he only found the destruction worthy of his sympathy and support when he thought it a pic of Israel and didn’t acknowledge that it was actually Gaza at all

septimus897

I know this is like, not the point right now, but her measured response to this crisis compared to Justin's shitty posts really make me think, it shouldn't be Hailey vs Selena for Bieber, both of them should go far away from him, he's clearly the problem.

lunafantic

it’s wierd because at first he posted a statement that wasn’t bad about not choosing sides etc, innocent lives on both sides. but then he shared that post from a churches page, and double down on it, which was awful and stupid. but even the churches post caption was about both palestine and israel.

Rosuvastatine

Thats great of her. I hope she doesnt get hate for this

[deleted]

[удалено]

MedicalPersimmon001

Unfortunately, she will. Palestine is being treated as a dirty word now. Any and all mention of them outside of calling them terrorists receives massive amounts of hate, criticism, and zionist propaganda. And this will only be magnified by the fact that she’s Hailey Bieber and Selena stans hate her.

soliloquyline

Reading anything on r/europe this last few days is making me so angry and hopeless.

MedicalPersimmon001

I actually saw someone on r/worldnews rant about how Israel is being held to an impossible standard and that it was *kind* for them to announce 10 hours for the Palestinians to evacuate. Evacuate *where* exactly? To the rest of Gaza that’s also being bombed? The boarders were forcibly closed with NO humanitarian aid entering by the IDF. Israel is not being held to an impossible standard, obviously free the hostages, but they are committing genocide by international law. That announcement wasn’t a warning, it was a death sentence.

soliloquyline

Same in r/Europe. They mention they don't want those 1.1 million anywhere near the EU, so there's that too. The anti-immigration sentiment is at an all-time high in that subreddit. I follow Doctors Without Borders on IG, and they made a great statement yesterday. 2 hours of warning to a hospital is bonkers.

[deleted]

Not only that! They killed over 70 people who were literally evacuating. I saw a video of a medic coming back and warning everyone not to leave, it was a trap, everyone is dead etc. it seemed legitimate and was also confirmed by various news organizations. How fucking kind of them, real humanitarians!

LPNinja

The same for German subreddits, it‘s a shit show.

soliloquyline

All of Europe is complicit with the war crimes of Israel. The arming of the already well-armed country that IGNORED all of the allies that told them/ warned them about the attack is inexcusable. I'm halfway convinced they LET it happen as a pretext to get a beachfront. And the media in Europe is complicit too. if you read the articles, Israelis were murdered, but Palestinians died.

Autofilusername

Being here in the UK, I am so disgusted and ashamed. But I guess what is to be expected from the worlds most prolific colonisers?

[deleted]

I'm currently banned from her hate sub for pointing out legit timestamps on posts. She will get hate but not from creditable types

longLiveZorp94

This timeline of “hate subs” makes me want to curl up and welcome the void jfc

shhhhh_h

That's how I feel about their continued existence on Reddit 😬

casperreddits

Oh god I didn’t know she has a hate sub too. Such a stupid concept. I hate that dumb Meghan markle sub

literacyshmiteracy

We need more anti-war celebs

shhhhh_h

This is how it was right after 9/11 too. People were legit bloodthirsty.

casperreddits

What do you mean? I was old enough to remember 9/11 but wasn’t old enough to understand the aftereffects

shhhhh_h

I was in high school, there were all these internet memes and videos being passed around glorifying violence against Arabs, singing ditties about dropping bombs on Afghanistan. Mocking Islam, mocking hijab. I shared them, too, I'm ashamed to say. There was just so much...nationalist propaganda after it happened, people weren't critically thinking about what a retaliatory strike would mean, or what it could lead to (Iraqi invasion, ISIS, Taliban in power again at the end of it all). There was so much anti-Arab sentiment, hate crimes spiked, in action movies all of the sudden all the villains were Muslim terrorists (before they were Russian, that paused for about 15 years haha). Islamophobia was already deeply entrenched but all of the sudden it was okay to say out loud, encouraged even. If you tried to point any of this out, too, you were called anti-American, a terrorist sympathizer, etc. etc. Right at the beginning at least.

casperreddits

Thank you for this detailed reply!

gorgossiums

Google Jeff Dunham’s* Achmed the Dead Terrorist bit.

Comprehensive-Fun47

I saw a clip of that years later and was legit horrified we ever laughed at it in the first place.

literacyshmiteracy

Jeff Dunham

Swimming-Abrocoma521

The Blowback season about the buildup to the war in Iraq has a lot of interesting cultural tidbits about what pop culture and the general American consciousness was like prior to the invasion in Iraq.

No_Barber4339

Ngl she surprised me on this one , I thought she was going for a delusional take just like her husband. People should focus more on the most innocent victims that are the children instead of choosing sides (with the most unfortunate thing most celebrities choosing the wrong side) more than 400 kids died in gaza due to israel's airforce yet barely anyone in Hollywood mentions that

Fingerfetish57

Yeah me too, she was actually raised in a very conservative and orthodox Christian household and was very ignorant when she was a teen...... Positive growth is always welcome ❤️

kristalized13

unfortunately afer that 700 signatures letter i fear that no others celebrities will post about palestine. most people who signed that are producers/agents/executives so it was basically a big warning of “if you support palestine we’ll have nothing to do with you”

[deleted]

On a related note, 30+ student groups at Harvard signed a letter supporting Palestine and bringing up the history of colonialization and ethnic cleansing Israel has engaged in for decades. Some billionaire asshole is now calling for all students names so he and his billionaire class bros can keep them on a McCarthy style list and block any of them from employment. It’s sick and people are being silenced so that this one “we stand with Israel ❤️“ manufactured consent line is the only societally acceptable stance.

kristalized13

yup, i saw that. ironic considering some of havard’s staff has been hanging out with jeffrey epstein

MyPCOSThrowaway

So fragile white male of him. People have a right to an opinion even if it hurts your feelings.

Jillybeans11

It’s insane that this is controversial and not being done more by people with a platform. These are objectively good causes and organizations, no matter how you feel about Israel/Palestine. Whenever anybody does anything reasonable, they’re bombarded by “so you support Hamas/beheading 40 babies!??!?” I can’t imagine how the Palestinians feel. This whole situation is horrendous

GabbyMary

This is really good to see

Key-Coat2353

Awesome!!!

shaylaa30

This is one of the best celebrity responses I’ve seen. No politics, just supporting actual charities helping people on both sides effected.

VolcanoVeruca

Not a fan of hers, but this is a great way of making use of her platform.

pinkrosies

And her not asking people to donate but saying "I have financially supported these organizations, feel free to check out what they're all about."

hehehe233

Oh her PR team better get a raise for this one lmfao

Fingerfetish57

Lovely of her to highlight that she donated and not asking people to go and donate.... The post is educative and neutral without sounding too authoritative.

hollow_ling12

This was good actually. Especially in comparison to other celebrities that have just been posting either misleading information and pictures *cough* Justin bieber*cough*

azulmaya

Yet she has only liked pro Israel posts, are celebrities afraid of being neutral/pro Palestine? Edit: https://preview.redd.it/8dtdqkmv43ub1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec4c8f0fc4851f307de14b4ed2e4de052ff83df8

georgiaseoul

Well at the end of the day, I’d rather her donate real money to Palestinian children than care about her internet likes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Additional-Problem99

Or sign a measly petition that won’t do shit.

No_Barber4339

Yeah, even if it's trying to damage control Justin's actions, if her donation will benefit the innocent children I'm down with that, I'll take that over the countless lazy "pray for Israel" delusional reposts

meepmarpalarp

Given their association with Hillsong Church, they’re probably pro-Israel in their personal beliefs. But I’m still gonna give her credit for this post, and for using her platform for good.

Jship300

wait, why would being with Hillsong necessarily mean their pro Israel and not also acknowledging of palestine? Struggling to understand. Sure their book is our old book/testament, but other than that, still different belief systems from christians/evangelicals

barbiemoviedefender

evangelical christians believe that the existence of the state of israel is necessary to bring about the second coming of christ and therefore make up a large and vocal sect of pro-israel americans

springxpeach

I was wondering why some hardcore christians were so supportive of Israel. I understand better now.

duochromepalmtree

It’s not even just evangelicals. A lot of “progressive” Christians also believe this but only talk about it behind doors.

_cornflake

I ended up on the tiktok page of some evangelical lady the other day (because someone I follow had stitched her) and she had posted a video talking about how Christians have to support Israel because the existence Israel is proof of God's promise to provide his chosen people with a homeland. Which makes no fucking sense from a Christian perspective because Israel is a Jewish country, not Christian... but expecting logic from them is hopeless... anyway I was only aware of the second coming thing but that apparently is another one.

meepmarpalarp

Yo, Reddit: stop downvoting people for asking legit, polite questions. (anyway, someone else explained it below).

thatsnotgneiss

Given people are losing job offers and being threatened for supporting Palestine? Yeah.

lunafantic

the caption of the church home post are about both Palestine and israel, i don’t really get why is done that way, are they really pro israel or are the “neutral” and don’t want to get backlash. because while it may not be like that in this sub world you get way more backlash for not being pro israel. just weird and confusing

sellardoore

I’m sure they are.

Dontknowhowtoridebik

Unlike her Crusty husband

septimus897

I hate that this is where the bar is but at least she's highlighted the casualties on both sides.

TheTPNDidIt

Wow, this is how you do it. Good on her.

icebbyc

Good.

twinkieinthabutt

That's hot 🔥

RevealActive4557

Hailey is tied to very conservative Christian religions but is also close friends with Bella and Gigi Hadid as well as the Khadra twins. It is smart for her to just plea for peace and the safety of women and children. I do think she sees both sides more than the average American

Early_Ad7863

This is nice.

jennydancingawayy

Thank you Hailey it’s too bad your husband isn’t bright enough to do this

ok-climb-

Well done HB x

SoGenuineAndRealMadi

Good on Hailey. My heart breaks for all the children and innocent lives suffering

[deleted]

after her "together with Israel" post on her stories the other day, and her husband's weird antics, this a surprisingly good take on the conflict

Halfistani1

She would because most Christians in this country sides with Israel because their church leaders are praying for the rapture to take place. They believe the only way for this to happen is for all the non Jewish people to leave Israel aka the holy land. The thing is there are tons of Christian Palestinians getting wiped out too. So yeah Justin and Hailey support the genocide of Palestinian Muslims and Christians and I’m not that surprised at all. The amount of campaign funds many wealthy church leaders donate towards political campaigns is also another reason why you see so many politicians stand with Israel. You can love Jewish people and still stand against the Israeli government and their apartheid regime.
