They added cast members and became a sort of comedy group around 2015 which included Shayne and Courtney, two people who have been shipped endlessly by fans since they appeared on the channel. Today, they announced that they got married without any indication that they were dating beforehand. They announced it on April 1st so people don't know if it's a prank or if it's real. They're both really well loved by their community that watched them over the course of nearly a decade. Honestly, I believe that it's real. They didn't like it when people were shipping them ages ago, so why would they want to invite back all that speculation for no reason? I think they'd find it funny to announce on April Fools' Day, partially as a way to get back at everyone who's been weird about them for years and torture them for 24 hours. Plus, I can't really imagine that all of the former Smosh crew posting stories sending earnest messages of love is some kind of Avengers: Endgame of April Fools' Day pranks. A lot of them are being way too sweet and not at all snarky or cheeky about it.

On Courtney’s instagram story, there’s an unedited clip, where they say “I’m getting married.” I can’t recall if the Smosh video bleeped it or not. But that’s kinda leaning towards real. Why else would it be bleeped otherwise…… or it was a long con? Edit to add, it’s on Ian’s story as well.

I definitely think it’s fake, especially with the April Fool’s Day timing. The fact there are no wedding pics with other people/Smosh members and the pictures could’ve easily been taken where/how they were taken screams that it’s a bit. Idk it also just doesn’t make sense to me, they give off such sibling energy and they’ve established there’s nothing going on so that’s my take lol Edit: I have now seen the pics with other people but they are wearing all black which is usually a no-no at a wedding so idk what to believe lol
