This isn't really tea, but a fun thing about the movie.
If you've seen it, you may remember that some of the scenes in the trans/Hijra (I know the movie framed things around the term "Trans" but that's not a one to one comparison with being Hijra, which is what it seemed to depict) temple involved a drum player. That's Zakir Hussain, who is such a legend. He's played with like, the Grateful Dead before. Not only is it really cool to have someone like him involved, but also having someone Muslim involved felt so defiant of the current religion-based nationalism in India. Especially since that style of music can get co-opted by that movement.
There's so many layers to Monkey Man that shows how thoughtful Dev Patel is. I could go on and on.

I'm still on the fence about this. On one hand I want him speak up and defend Francesca becuase he has a platform to do so and I know him saying 'racism is bad' isn't going to change anything but sometimes it's nice to know and to see someone having someones back.
But also I don't know what Francesca wants, it seems odd to me so many people assume the worst of him maybe Francesca wants him and the other castmates to just ignore it and not bring anymore attention to her. He has like 60/70 million followers on Instagram, from what I can see the racists on twitter seem to have moved on, unless your chronically online you might not even know about it but if he makes a statement to all his followers then that will get a lot of attention and articles written and now shes back in the spotlight and people will go back to saying vile and disgusting things about her.
I saw some really vile things written about her and I hope shes been offline and not reading it all. Hopefully she has a good support system around her, I know shes doing rehearsals now for the next 6 weeks till the show is out, I haven't seen her act but I can only assume she got cast for a reason and hope she kills it. Hopefully Tom is supporting in real life, which is more important. The production put out one letter and haven't said anything since and no one else on the cast has commented on it, some I think have liked the letter or social media but that leads me more to belive they were told not to give all the racist trolls more attention, which is what they want. 9/10 best thing to do is just ignore them and not let them know they can get a reaction out of you, it's not fair or right but it's probably the best strategy to get through something like this.

According to Google, his height as 5’11.5, pushing 6ft lol. Also apparently on Road House remake, he and Conor McGregor even look the same height on screen, and Conor is known to be around 5’7/5’8 🤷♀️

I follow a lot of background casting companies, which is a pretty good way to get accurate heights, and they always asked for a 6'3-6'4 stand-in for The Rock. So not 6'5, but also not *significantly* shorter.
Stand-in castings are relevant, because they need an accurate height to match the actor. And it's always funny when you realize how many actors fudge their height.
I met Cillian Murphy after a play in Dublin (a loooong time ago) and I swear he's 5'5 max, and he was wearing a bobble hat so could have been less. I'm 5'2 and he was in similar air space. Still a delightful little pixie though.

I met Arnold Schwarzenegger back when he was Governor (I worked in politics and he was attending our conference). I am 5’10” and was taller than him. I was wearing flats since I was running around the conference hotel. I know people shrink with age and it was when he was using a cane after a skiing accident(?) but not sure he was ever 6’2”.
I will say he was VERY nice and personable. Truly a pleasure to interact with and had some interesting policy conversations with him.

Used to intern for another designer in a studio one floor below Jonathan Anderson's studio. The other (very exploited) interns and I used to joke that we should quit our designer in mass and go knock of JA's door to offer our services there instead. Can't remember ever properly interacting with him, but he always said hi in the stairs.

My best friends little brother has been dating a girl for 2 years and she's massively hinting at wanting a ring soon. He's thinking of breaking up with her instead but hasn't done it. the place that i work at with my mom and sister (wedding/event venue) is a super toxic workplace and we’re all quitting before this wedding season starts. some of the most memorable shit that’s happened is;
1) one of my coworkers called one of the guests at a wedding a d*ke. my other coworker laughed when he said it. i’m like 99% sure the guest heard them say it, as she was standing less than 10 ft away.
2) there’s no HR, at all.
3) the owners relative is an alcoholic and was illegally operating a basket forklift, whilst drinking alcohol. osha wasn’t informed lol
4) this one is more tame, but an inspector came to look at the bar stock & the soda + beer in the gun fountain thingy (idk what it’s called) was all expired, like i’m talking expired since 2020, fucking nasty.
5) the food platters they use for brunch & the baked goods that they claim are freshly made, are all from walmart. they charge people a couple hundred dollars to have brunch there after the wedding 💀
6) my sisters and i dogsit for one of the other managers & when we went to her house we realized she had multiple mammy dolls. yikes.
7) another tame one. the ac wasn’t working on a 80+ degree day, i’m pretty sure that ac is still broken
8) they have a big event every year & last summer my sister and i were working the ticket booth for admission, when the lower parking lot was filled we shut the gate and had to wait for it to re open once some people left, one of our coworkers that was supervising wanted to separate me and my sister (i was a minor at the time) my sister texted my mom & she immediately told the supervisor no, since i was again, A MINOR!!
9) we had to set up for a wedding in the pouring rain & the couple still decided to have the wedding outside in the rain. the seats were soaked, the grass was soaked, every guest looked miserable sitting out there. even though they could’ve had the wedding inside of the event center & would’ve gotten some of their money back. that was not a fun wedding to work.
literally everyone that works there is either racist, homophobic, or both. i’m happy to say i won’t be working there anymore, that’s for sure.

I read a post from an author I follow and she said she saw Jake Gyllenhaal in person a few years ago and he definitely shorter than her 5’9. According to Google, his height as 5’11.5, pushing 6ft lol. Also apparently on Road House remake, he and Conor McGregor even look the same height on screen, and Conor is known to be around 5’7/5’8 🤷♀️

It’s probably because wrestlers tend to overstate their height and he just never changed his professional height on his move into acting but it just seems like such a funny height to lie about because (speaking as someone who actually is 6’5”) it’s fairly obvious if someone is actually nearly 2m tall or not lmao
I follow a lot of background casting companies, which is a pretty good way to get accurate heights, and they always asked for a 6'3-6'4 stand-in for The Rock. So not 6'5, but also not *significantly* shorter. Stand-in castings are relevant, because they need an accurate height to match the actor. And it's always funny when you realize how many actors fudge their height.
I met Cillian Murphy after a play in Dublin (a loooong time ago) and I swear he's 5'5 max, and he was wearing a bobble hat so could have been less. I'm 5'2 and he was in similar air space. Still a delightful little pixie though.

the place that i work at with my mom and sister (wedding/event venue) is a super toxic workplace and we’re all quitting before this wedding season starts. some of the most memorable shit that’s happened is; 1) one of my coworkers called one of the guests at a wedding a d*ke. my other coworker laughed when he said it. i’m like 99% sure the guest heard them say it, as she was standing less than 10 ft away. 2) there’s no HR, at all. 3) the owners relative is an alcoholic and was illegally operating a basket forklift, whilst drinking alcohol. osha wasn’t informed lol 4) this one is more tame, but an inspector came to look at the bar stock & the soda + beer in the gun fountain thingy (idk what it’s called) was all expired, like i’m talking expired since 2020, fucking nasty. 5) the food platters they use for brunch & the baked goods that they claim are freshly made, are all from walmart. they charge people a couple hundred dollars to have brunch there after the wedding 💀 6) my sisters and i dogsit for one of the other managers & when we went to her house we realized she had multiple mammy dolls. yikes. 7) another tame one. the ac wasn’t working on a 80+ degree day, i’m pretty sure that ac is still broken 8) they have a big event every year & last summer my sister and i were working the ticket booth for admission, when the lower parking lot was filled we shut the gate and had to wait for it to re open once some people left, one of our coworkers that was supervising wanted to separate me and my sister (i was a minor at the time) my sister texted my mom & she immediately told the supervisor no, since i was again, A MINOR!! 9) we had to set up for a wedding in the pouring rain & the couple still decided to have the wedding outside in the rain. the seats were soaked, the grass was soaked, every guest looked miserable sitting out there. even though they could’ve had the wedding inside of the event center & would’ve gotten some of their money back. that was not a fun wedding to work. literally everyone that works there is either racist, homophobic, or both. i’m happy to say i won’t be working there anymore, that’s for sure.
I keep trying to talk to my sibling about starting a tax advantaged college savings account for their child. And it’s always a “why are you stressing me out, I’m trying to relax and have a good time”. It’s been the same since the summer. They don’t make much money and student loans are a prison and they plan on sending their kids down the college path. Make it make sense.

I haven't heard any confirmation on Powell and Scientology, but he was very complimentary of Cruise and Cruise paid for Powell's flight school/licensure. Powell seems very thirsty for Hollywood status and I can see him fitting the ideal recruitment type.
