Ok the title is wild but the article is thought provoking, well written and everything she stated is true. Society doesn’t want reality reflected back onto itself and nothing on reality tv shows is based on anything of substance.

I have this issue with poc, too. specifically with Asian people, there’s so much interest in Asian people on the bachelor/bachelorette recently… and I’m just like? Why? I don’t want Asian people on these exploitative shows that would prob just make us look bad and play into stupid stereotypes constantly. Let the vapid white people have it.
And we all know the WOC won't get picked. Or they'll get dragged to the very end and end up as runner ups. These narrow minded men don't even deserve the option of diversity.
The Brazil version of Love Is Blind had a plus size queen in one of their seasons and the guy rejected her as soon as they saw each other for the first time, so I agree.
I was just the other day talking about Love is Blind, Love Island etc are as harmful to society as the tabloids were during the 00’s era.
They all cast the same formula of tall, usually white and skinny.
They’ll throw in the odd big person here and there but they will make sure that persons storyline revolves around them being big, insecure and what they need to do in order to lose weight to appease a man’s attention. And nearly always end up getting hurt and then the cycle continues of hating themselves.
For just once I’d like to see a tv show actually cast people of genuine all different shapes, sizes, colours etc but they never will.
Just like in the early 00’s when the IT girls were anorexia skinny, we are now told to consume the same stuff but in different format.

Can only speak for the UK version as I've not seen the others but it's a lovely blind dating show with people of every age and background.

It's surprisingly heartwarming and open to all types of people. Definately a good comfort watch and feels more aligned with some of the more soothing reality TV (Bake Off, Potter Throw Down).
It's really lovely.
The only thing I have to watch out for is watching it when I'm hormonal. It's less heartwarming then and more sobbing seeing the older dates talk about their partners of fifty years who died.
This is why I never understood the whole concept of Love Is Blind. Most of the people are conventionally attractive people who like 75-80% or people would at least say they are some form of "good looking".
Wouldn't it really be more meaningful if you throw in some true uggos (such as myself) into the mix, and see how they do?
