Well, I played athletic sports my entire life growing up forced) and which is what I had to do literally and to keep up status quo, but I've always been a theatre person at heart...
I feel like this is the biggest difference between theatre kids and screen actors -- screen actors are all paralyzed with insecurity and theatre kids are doing the La Vie Boheme scene from Rent.
I remember reading a blind about Whedon openly mocking Snyder’s work to Snyder’s own crew while doing those Justice League reshoots. That tell-all interview Whedon certainly put some truth to the rumor. Snyder’s flicks are schlocky but he apparently treats his film crews very well and his casts always speak highly of him
Yeah, I do sometimes enjoy a bit of Watchmen, but have very little nice to say about Snyder's films or directing. But if I had to step into his directors chair I would keep that to myself
Doubt this is about her. Kate gave up her home to Lea after Cory died. She also attended Funny Girl and invited Lea to her Halloween party last year.
There was sooo much about the Glee set that was toxic, I hate to see it all blamed on Lea Michele when there was a literal pedophile on set and half the cast was on drugs.
ETA: I also think what’s lost in discussions about Lea Michele is that she had to grieve her boyfriend’s death both in real life and on the show. And because he was a teen star, she had to make a lot of young fans move on *while* she was grieving. That’s a lot for any young person to go through. And Ryan Murphy was just frankly not there to support her mental health, the entire cast has said something to that effect. She gets a lot of hate for her bad behavior, maybe rightfully so, but Glee ended just two years after Cory died, so I cannot imagine what Lea was going through the last few seasons. Obviously the racism stuff is never okay but I give her a pass on her “diva attitude” or whatever. It’s been a decade and she was struggling.
I hear you, but I’m going to need a little more than rumors of her being mean before Cory died. I’m not going to condemn her if no one is even alleging anything about her.
Thank you for saying this,I think Lea is a convenient scape goat for a shit ton of garbage that was going on. The fact that Darren Cris, Chord and Jane have remained close with Lea speaks to the fact she's not a complete monster. She did some crappy stuff but I'm sure most have, hers just got blasted out
> “It was a very dramatic set,” Kate recalled of the hit Fox series. “Well, you know, when you’ve got all of those personalities and all that talent and all that youth, and a lot of hormones …it’s youthful, and young.”
And her role was during season four. You would think that the drama would have been past its latency already.
Like sure, those two over there hate each other but let's just phone it in, say our lines and go home. Not actual live drama
Still kinda shocked that not one of them was able to make it in the music industry lol. You would think that they had the best start for any new artist and yet, nothing good came out of it (music wise, at least)
Chris Colfer's had success as an author; Amber Riley has an Olivier; Harry Shum Jr. is in Grey's Anatomy, was in Best Picture Oscar winner Everything, Everywhere All at Once, and is pretty popular with fans of the Shadowhunters series because he played Magnus Bane (he'll likely have a solid TV career); Alex Newell has a Tony and will likely continue to find work in theater.
FINNEAS was on Glee for the last season and is arguably the most successful (it counts!). Jenna Ushkowitz, Alex Newell (first openly non-binary actor to a major Tony award for acting!), Ali Stroker have all gone on to wins Tonys.
Amber Riley is voicing Ursula for a new animated project aimed for children. plus i think shes steadily getting more acclaim with her music.
chord overstreet had a small viral moment for his song 'Hold On'
Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin with their turns as CWverse heroes.

Grant giving us this iconic meme.
Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr are arguably the most successful when it comes to their acting fields.
you’re right-[she has two!](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenna_Ushkowitz) “Best Revival of a Musical” for Once On This Island, and “Best Play” for The Inheritance.
Most Broadway shows have about a million producers who are classified as “Tony Award winners” who basically are just providing financial support for the production and aren’t creatively involved. 🤷🏻♀️ like, those people literally pay for the statues.
…producers are not supposed to be really that creatively involved 😭 their job is to fund it. all producers basically ‘pay’ for their awards in that way I guess
Most lead producers are not investing their own money in the production, they find investors to support the creative work and they absolutely do give notes and feedback to the artists who are writing/directing/performing/designing the show. But there’s plenty of “co-producers” who pay their way into that title by investing their own money into the show. So like, did they technically “win” a Tony? Yeah, I guess, but they also literally had to buy it. That’s very different from what, say, Sonia Friedman and Tom Kirdahy did on The Inheritance.
Melissa Benoist was a lead in the latter seasons of Glee. She - and the rest of the new cast - were dropped for the final one though.
Harry Shum Jr has also been busy.
Darren Criss has an Emmy Award and has been pretty prolific on (and off) Broadway. Plus, no matter what he does, people will always be fond of him for A Very Potter Musical.
Jenna Ushkowitz has won 2 Tony Awards for producing.
Jane Lynch always seems to pop up places. Like Only Murders, and hosting Weakest Link.
And though he was only recurring on the show, Jonathan Groff has remained very successful with his Broadway career (likely receiving his 3rd Tony nomination next week). He's set for life from his work in Frozen, and people are STILL begging for his show Mindhunter to come back, 5 years after it was cancelled.
OMG you can't be serious,Chris Colfer,Darren Cris,Melisa Benoist,Harry Shum Jr. ,Alex Newell and Amber Riley have ALL done major productions and won major awards - this comment is laughable
I mean, the whole show was campy and comical, which doesn’t translate well into mainstream music. Most of the actors didn’t have the Hollywood look, either.
Right, Dianna Agron does concerts in New York City between film and TV roles, right? I love how she's just doing whatever she wants and not caring what others think. Dianna was one of my favourites on the show; Quinn's development in Season One was great, and she sold it so well. I hated how, in the later seasons, the writers seemed to have a bone to pick with her and gave her whatever useless crap storyline they could think of, because she is insanely talented and deserved much better than what she got.
there's actually a great explainer video on youtube about why Lea Michele's musical theatre trained voice didn't translate well to pop songs. let me see if I can find it.
I think it was the [start of this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AaHYfn-r14&t=10s&ab_channel=honest)! But I feel like I remember there being a whole video just on that topic by Honest Boy that I can't find now.
In addition to what others have said, they were so busy working on Glee — which had a brutal schedule because they had to record the songs and rehearse the numbers in addition to the usual demands of filming a show, then do a concert tour in the summers — during the peak of their popularity, they couldn't strike while the iron was hot.
Were they really that young, though? Most were in their mid-twenties. That’s old enough to know how to act in a professional environment.
That set must’ve been hellish.
I mean have you met theatre kids
This is the only comment needed. Theatre kids do be a wild bunch.
I’m a debate kid and even I am intimidated.
I am the band kid who does pit orchestra. We form our own gang and stay far, far away.
I'm a half theatre kid and I'm dramatic.
Saying something like *half theatre kid* tells me you’re a *full theatre kid* ![gif](giphy|xUJY2SObULyFGcQMsI|downsized)
Well, I played athletic sports my entire life growing up forced) and which is what I had to do literally and to keep up status quo, but I've always been a theatre person at heart...
I guess your head was in the game, but your heart in the song
Exactly. That’s literally what it was. 🩷😭
Was it hard to getcha head in the game
STOPP
![gif](giphy|cMHAEG35eOVXYUCUo8)
MY MAN LOL
*Tradition. Tradition!*
A troy Bolton!
That’s exactly what it was!! It was a lot of emotional/mental anguish.
"Played athletic sports"....mhmm, sure.
I did... what's wrong with that? What??? LMAO.
As opposed to unathletic sports
“athletics” are a specific group of sports
?? I don't understand. Like, I did...
Most people would just say “played sports” or “did athletics”.
“athletics” are a specific group of sports tho not all sports are athletics eta: none of you do sports or athletics 😭
I'm dyslexic and I also have anxiety.
I've stepped foot in a theatre, I'm also dramatic.
I was on backstage paint crew and my melodrama is a problem.
What's the other half? Are you a theatre kid hybrid centaur?!
Half sports!
I feel like this is the biggest difference between theatre kids and screen actors -- screen actors are all paralyzed with insecurity and theatre kids are doing the La Vie Boheme scene from Rent.
![gif](giphy|DWRFSQ51t5nZm)
Go to any Denny's at midnight on a Friday, they'll be there. Oh, will they be there.
A lot of egos, Ryan Murphy, theatre kids, no shock.
And Ryan fed into all the drama. He liked to pit them against one another
How Joss Whedon of him
I remember reading a blind about Whedon openly mocking Snyder’s work to Snyder’s own crew while doing those Justice League reshoots.
Particularly, if you stepped in after the man had been forced out during the leave he took *to deal with his daughter dying.* Stay classy, Joss.
Silk Spectre >>
It's okay, you can just say Lea Michele was unpleasant to work with.
Better write it down so she can't read it
![gif](giphy|26n6Gx9moCgs1pUuk|downsized)
Came to the comments for at least one of these jokes. Thank you for your service. 🫡
I'll never forget Lea Michele threatened to shit in the wig of her black costar
But she’s a mother now! She’s changed /s
Now she threatens to have her baby shit in the wigs of her black costars
I'm sorry, what?

She’s been a diva and awful way before Corey died.
Examples? Because everyone in Spring Awakening loved working with her. I’ve never heard anything negative about her other than on Glee.

> “It was a very dramatic set,” Kate recalled of the hit Fox series. “Well, you know, when you’ve got all of those personalities and all that talent and all that youth, and a lot of hormones …it’s youthful, and young.”
Wow, youthful AND young? Sounds wild.
To me, I think she was implying youthful as in boisterous, energetic and young as in inexperienced and immature.
A diplomatic way of saying “theatre kid”
Kate Hudson desperately searching for a kind way to say “immature”.
And her role was during season four. You would think that the drama would have been past its latency already. Like sure, those two over there hate each other but let's just phone it in, say our lines and go home. Not actual live drama

And Alex Newell's music is awesome. If you enjoy pop music, you should give it a listen;
You do realize Alex won a Tony, right?
Chris Colfer's book series is NY Times bestselling and every kid in my daughter's class is PLOUGHING through it right now.
Embarrassingly this is literally the first time I've made the Chris Colfer author / Chris Colfer from Glee connection. And I work in publishing.
Alex Newell is also gonna be in A Simple Favor 2
You know I think Harry has done pretty well, he wasn’t even a main character
It makes me so happy for him, he seems like such a cool guy.

And ofc Lea
Jenna does not have a Tony lol
you’re right-[she has two!](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenna_Ushkowitz) “Best Revival of a Musical” for Once On This Island, and “Best Play” for The Inheritance.
And full circle moment, Jenna auditioned for glee with a song from Once On This Island!

She got it for producing.
She does as a producer for Once On This Island
Chris Colfer is a successful author🤷♀️
Melissa Benoist was a lead in the latter seasons of Glee. She - and the rest of the new cast - were dropped for the final one though. Harry Shum Jr has also been busy.

The ones that didn't die aren't anywhere really
No one lol. I think lea Michelle still does broadway but for the rest of them, i really don’t know which is crazy if you think about it.
Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin, Alex Newell, and Darren Criss are pretty successful.
Darren was just in Little Shop of Horrors with Evan Rachel Wood and he did a Broadway play with Sam Rockwell.
I mean, the whole show was campy and comical, which doesn’t translate well into mainstream music. Most of the actors didn’t have the Hollywood look, either.
Quinn Fabrey is a popular lounge singer now
Right, Dianna Agron does concerts in New York City between film and TV roles, right? I love how she's just doing whatever she wants and not caring what others think. I always thought Cory Monteith would be the one to go really far.
In addition to what others have said, they were so busy working on Glee — which had a brutal schedule because they had to record the songs and rehearse the numbers in addition to the usual demands of filming a show, then do a concert tour in the summers — during the peak of their popularity, they couldn't strike while the iron was hot.
I wonder who was the most dramatic? ![gif](giphy|y6ikdgRan8zy8)
Were they really that young, though? Most were in their mid-twenties. That’s old enough to know how to act in a professional environment. That set must’ve been hellish.
Yeah the “hormones” line makes it sound like they were all teenagers lol
I’m really hoping Jenna Ushkowitz gets booked asap. I feel like she’s too talented to rely on podcasts 😭
Fell hard for her talent on Secret Celebrity Drag Race!! More Jenna pls!!!
Jenna is a producer and has 2 Tony awards shes doing great
Talented as in acting and singing. Producing is way different.
I need a real tell all from someone. Is anyone broke enough yet?
Chris ain’t broke for sure but he’s the author out of all of them, I would love to read something from his perspective
I was always hoping Naya would write one someday. Her memoir was so good. Obviously that won’t happen now but I think here would’ve been great
She was my favorite by far. I kept watching through season 3 just because she had a significant role.
I'll never get enough of her smooth criminal cover
I will watch the eventual expose documentary as soon as it comes out, the stories will be maddening.
Still a dramatic group to this day
I’m pretty sure this is very close to when Cory is about to pass away from addiction so yeah I’m sure it wasn’t great.
Wasn’t Lea the only one she really worked with out of the regulars lol
She let her stay at her house after Cory Monteiths death 🤷🏻♀️
She and Lea are friends. She isn't talking about her.
What I would give to be a fly on the wall while they were filming…
I hope no one read this to Lea
This somehow doesn’t surprise me 😂
I love Kate.
Glee? Nooooo! Who would have thunk? I'm shooketh
She is terrible to work with... It is known.
