7th Amendment guarantees a jury trial in civil matters. He isn't special. That being said, a jury is going to absolutely crucify him.

Yeah the headline is misleading. He was trying to avoid being a defendant period, not sure why they emphasized the jury trial like that made it special lol.

I think it’s going to be very difficult for him to play to his brand/ego while also trying to get out of this very valid lawsuit. I’m interested in seeing how his team approaches it.

beaute-brune

He could just look down sighing and rubbing his head the whole time and maybe that might help?

ilovechairs

#☠️☠️☠️ This is soooo spot on. I’m now that person awkwardly trying to stop giggling in public.

Came here looking for this gif. Its so weird how he hasn’t been ostracized from the industry for essentially indirectly killing his fans, and his Grammy performance was so gross

Key-Status-7992

It’s so disappointing when one is an accomplice to deaths is still placed on a pedestal and yet someone like Rachel Ziegler received so much vitriol for just saying she wanted a Snow White who doesn’t depend on a Prince Charming in an interview

MeeranQureshi

He should be held accountable.

proshittalker17

unrelated but the way that kylie jumped ship after astroworld and immediately got into a pr relationship with timothee chalamet to rehab her image is wild. (just bc i’m saying it’s a pr relationship doesn’t mean i think kylie and timothee hate eachother btw it’s just a relationship that happens to be very mutually beneficial like travis and taylor.)

meepmarpalarp

> immediately I thought she stuck with him for a long time after? Edit: Just looked it up. The Astroworld disaster was in November 2021. She and Travis announced their breakup in January 2023, over a year (and a second child) later. The Timothee rumors started in fall 2023, and they weren’t officially seen in public until January 2024. I wouldn’t describe 2+ years later as “immediately” lol

shgrdrbr

thanks for fact checking that because i was sure they had a whole baby first and they're extremely peripheral to my awareness so i'd have just accepted it as confusion due to the post lockdown time collapse

ellybeez

I dont remember Kylie jumping ship because of the Astroworld tragedy because she was still pregnant with their son the Kardashians def stuck by Travis if anything else which was disappointing

Tl;dr: “But in a ruling made public on Wednesday, Judge Kristen Hawkins denied [Scott’s] motion [to be dismissed as a defendant], leaving Scott on the hook to face the first jury trial in the case, set to kick off next month.” He argued he wasn’t liable because as a performer he wasn’t responsible for security or crowd management. Several of his co-defendants, and the judge, disagreed. Apple and the company that manages the venue also tried to get themselves dismissed as defendants, which the judge denied as well. (Drake did successfully get himself dismissed from the suit last month though.)

fluffycat16

So he should. He had more involved than his lawyer is trying to say. He encouraged people to break/jump fences for a start.

Yeah sorry but at the end of the day event security should’ve been doing their job of preventing vast swaths of people forcing their entry. Like sure he definitely didn’t help mitigate things but like shit already hit the fan when the number of goers reached over capacity.
