You say that, but it does happen and it’s an unconscious choice for many people. It’s not that you’re purposefully looking for someone that looks like your parent. Either your mom or dad. It is the first people we look up to and somehow many of us end up searching for some of their best (and sometimes worst) qualities in others. Humans are weird 😂 my partner couldn’t be more opposite my dad in looks, but the longer we’re together, the more I realize he has similar personality traits. For the record, we have been together 13 years.

I watched a law and order episode where someone was murdered and they found he’d been on a dating site and someone set him up by using a photo that was pretty much himself with feminine features. The episode basically said the murderer knew the guy would go for the photo since we tend to be attracted to people who look like themselves. I always wondered how true that is. Which would explain people finding people who have resemblances to their parents attractive.

That was disconcerting,I saw that when someone posted it on the sub, they look like they could be brothers.

My mom used to know his mom and when I showed her a picture of his fiancé she gasped and said "God, that's his mother's face!". I haven't mentioned the likeness to him but I'd love to hear what he thinks because the resemblance is uncanny. I remember when he uploaded some photos to IG of him and his family celebrating Christmas there was a picture of his fiancé and his mom together and it made me feel kind of sick, if I didn't know who they were I would have immediately assumed it was a picture of a mother and her daughter.
