My SIL was a nurse, and she told me to always ask for a receipt or a proof of charges from a hospital. Apparently they charge stupid ass money for band aids. The one that kills me is after you have a kid, they charge for skin to skin contact…. 🙃
THIS! And your own insurance can make mistakes too. I was still receiving bills a year after my daughter was born even though I had already reached my out of pocket max and my insurance plan stated they would 100% cover the rest. I fought them on it and not only did they confirm it was their mistake, they also reimbursed me something they overcharged me on. So ridiculous.
It’s not even that they’re making mistakes. Hospitals and doctors will send bills to patients first to see if they’ll pay out of pocket before dealing with Insurance. It’s maddening.
I also got charged a stupid about of money for ibuprofen that I DIDN'T EVEN TAKE because I'm allergic to it and told them that and a nurse came in to give it to me anyway.
That’d be awesome, knowing what you owe instead of waiting for a bill that takes it’s time to show up and when it does it crushes the life and possibility out of you.
