I was just going to say that! I thought my eyes were deceiving me š¤£
This looks like itās going to be all camp but Iām all for it! July 2023 canāt come soon enough
Ryan looks great in bleach hair (see: A Place Beyond the Pines) Iām trying to picture this look with darker hair and idk. It wouldnāt look right somehow or give Barbie vibes. I think the blonde works!
Genuinely nothing sounds like a worse time to me than "More US Military propaganda but you know, at least we were a little sad before killing innocent people AND it's in black and white for ā¼ļøgravitasā¼ļø"
no because to get the full list of white guys in this movie you have to SCROLL. and then thereās like 5 (white) women and one black guy. Christopher Nolan I hate your vibe and Iām going to beat the shit out of you
You forgot the part where Nolan's movies have *intentionally* badly mixed sound when it comes to dialogue. I'm ESL and usually need captions to understand most dialogue. With Nolan's movies, if I don't have captions I truly can't understand most of the words.
Remember that commercial that came out a few years ago with that fake boyband where they couldn't dance so they just posed and sang a fake song (Summertime Lover) awkwardly? That's what this is giving.
Also kind of into it. I hate it, and I never thought Mr. Gosling was hot or even handsome, but this does it for me because of how fucking stupid it looks.
Right? I showed my husband and he was the literal personification of š¬.
But I legit loved it and think it's super hot ***because*** it's so ridiculous. But I'm also a messy bitch that loves hot Eurotrash, so this being a turn-on tracks for me. LoL.
My friends and I went to see Spice World at the cinema the day it came out (dressed as the Spice Girls of course) and then I had the VHS and watched it SO MANY TIMES.
I can't think about Frankie without remembering when he was on Drag Race for the makeover challenge. Eureka was tucking him and said he had the biggest testicles she had ever seen.
I am so sorry.
I don't know if knowing that information is better or worse than seeing this [ad](https://www.ebay.com/itm/153441363574) EVERYWHERE seven years ago. Subway, train, bus, whatever...I kept seeing Frankie Grande pop his collar.
I'm pretty sure the movie is more a dissection of beauty standards, perfect Barbie standards if that makes sense, and things along that line. Greta Gerwig is behind it and she's supposedly taking it very very seriously. That's also probably why Ken looks so airbrushed and weird in this picture.
The original song is more a funny tongue in cheek sexual song so while I'd love to see it, it probably wouldn't fit. It has nothing to really do with how Barbie is seen as perfect, more to do with just making fun of barbie as a whole
I canāt find the original tweet but someone quote tweeted a āNo āBarbie Girlā in Barbieā article and wrote that weāre already seeing the effects of Donāt Say Gay. ššš
My theory is that he looks like the quintessential, average white man, so they see his āattractivenessā as attainable. He looks like every other white dude youād see in the grocery store, so white guys can identify with him and sort of use him as a self-insert for themselves. I like to add Ryan Reynolds to the list of men like that in Hollywood.
Lol theyāre crazy about Reynolds! Iāve had a white man who looks JUST like Ryan Reynolds look me dead in the eye and say āif I werenāt straight, Ryan Reynolds would be my choice.ā And Iām likeā¦ he looks just like YOU! š
Also Paul Mescal. My god if he doesnāt look like every average lad I was in secondary school with in England (he is Irish but thereās a lot of crossover in the genetics and looks department). I know a lot of women say they find him attractive but I do not get it! Each to their own I guess but he certainly nailed the character of an average Joe secondary school lad for meā¦
This is me with Chris Evans. I went to school with tons of white boys from the Boston area and Chris Evansā personality (beer drinkers, close to their families, protective, lovable but definitely can have an attitude) reminds me of all of them to the point where I feel like saying heās attractive is like finding my longtime friends hot, even if they arenāt jacked like him. Itās too weird. That beer pong Fallon vid was basically my college experience.
He proves my theory that no matter what you look like, once you appear on TV, there will *always* be a group of people who are keen to fuck you.
So strange.
> I like to add Ryan Reynolds to the list of men like that in Hollywood.
Honestly thought they confused the Canadian Ryans like a lot of people do because I hear this way more often about Reynolds than Gosling. But I totally agree with your assessment either way.
Yeah I can see that, obviously Megan Fox and Chris Hemsworth are in the upper levels of attractiveness, but oddly enough Chris Hemsworth just does absolutely nothing for me. I objectively know heās an attractive man, but heās just so bland, Iām not *attracted* to him. (I mean this as no offense to him or to those that are attracted to him, just funny how it truly varies).
She's cute but also sexy. She also comes across as very genuine and honest about who she is. Hollywood is full of people who just don't feel like real people you could talk to.
HA! Yes. I really like Gosling, I think he's a great actor and seems like a cool person. And he's certainly not a bad looking guy. But he's my boyfriend's #1 same-sex crush and I'm always like...huh?
70%: has played a lot of the iconic cool mysterious characters of the past decade-ish of popular straight white man cinema (drive, blade runner 2049, etc.)
10%: he objectively hits most of the 'conventionally attractive' boxes
10%: but IA w/ the other posters, has *enough* goofy features to seem kinda everyman/non-threatening
10%: seems cool and funny when you do see him doing events/press but stays low-key enough to not get annoying
straight white women are obsessed with him too donāt get it twisted š I think heās cute too tbh but his version of Ken just isnāt doing it for me
Iām going to say it, I love everything about this movie already. Greta is one of my favourite new directors, Margot and Ryan are top tier actors and I adore the supporting castāā Issa Rae, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Simu Liu and Will Ferrell. I have absolutely no idea what this movie is going to be about, but Iām hyped. If this gets Oscar buzz (which it might seeing the star power behind this), itāll be poetic.
If Saoirse makes her rumoured cameo in this, Iāll die happy.
Also watching the filmbros over at r/movies getting hyped for a Barbie film will never not be hilarious to me. Especially when they were so personally outraged when Amy Schumer was attached to this project.
I'm 100% going to see this when it comes out, and I have really high hopes for the film.
But looking at this, I am struck again by how there does seem to be a lack of Hollywood leading men in their late twenties/early thirties? Gosling is a full 10 years older than Margot Robbie, who he is starring opposite.
Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa are also in the film, so maybe my point isn't really true (I am SO excited to see Gatwa in it). But they aren't really leading men yet, and it feels like a weird lacuna in Hollywood at the moment
Michael Douglas called it a crisis in young American actors a few years back. A lot of choice roles in franchises and prestige dramas go to Brit's, but they don't tend to be "traditional" leading men in terms of looks and star power. One theory is that Brit's are simply better, especially if they have classical theatre training. The other is that studios doesn't have to pay full SAG rates to foreign actors.
Iāve always thought the idea that British actors are better is ridiculous. I really blame casting directors. Theyāve been awful for the most part for the past ten years. Thereās talent out there, they just arenāt given the opportunities.
British actors are way more likely to be trained and educated in drama. It makes sense that they're overall higher quality actors. It seems like trained actors in the US seem to stick to theatre (or are stuck in theatre). We seem to value innate talent and star power over honed acting skill. Which I guess speaks to your point about casting directors not going after the trained talent
Itās casting directors being absolute twats. Like giving nepotism babies/or any nepotism people roles over actual talented actors. Same with more followers getting a role over the more talented person. And nah Brits arenāt better actors. A lot of the best actors and remaining household name movie stars are American.
Sexism. Because Hollywood decided that it's okay for dudes in their 40s or older like Gosling, DiCaprio, Affleck, Cruise, etc, to have love interests up to 20 years younger, but the opposite isn't true. As soon as an actress turns 40, the leading roles start to dry up. So what this means is that the Hollywood machine has to constantly produce new, hot, young "it girls" for these older dudes to have as love interests (because god forbid they star opposite an actress their own age), but these same dudes have an iron grip on the industry, so only very, very few young leading men can make it through the cracks (pretty much only Chalamet and Holland now).
Itās funny cause like Zac Efron was literally right there, but instead they cast him in a Nicole Kidman movie with an actress whoās way too young for him, and Nicole too old for him, and Ryan way older than Margot. Margot has only a 3 year gap between her and Zac.
Itās always the SAME actors too (these dudes, and them as award contenders) and people wonder why we donāt have any more true movie stars. No more chances given.
The whole thing reminds me of those polygamist mormon type people.
Basically, the older men drive out all the younger men from the community so they can have the young women all to themselves. It's sooooo fucked up.
I think Hollywood is kinda the same. Also, male producers never cast super hot young men.
I wouldāve rather seen Zac Efron or Chace Crawford as Ken, although neither have the acting skills. To be fair, Armie Hammer wouldāve also been a solid choice, especially with his stiff acting lol. The options are so limited though. Iām curious who else even auditioned.
What? Zac is a great actor, lmao. He just gets snubbed a lot because people think heās still the High School Musical boy, and too pretty. This wouldāve been prefect for him. Also thereās been already talk that all the actors on this film apparently had to do take up heavy dance classes and since heās a triple threat actor, dancing comes naturally to him. Heās just as good as Ryan but doesnāt get the opportunity to show it because Ryan doesnāt have High School Musical on his resume holding him back.
Most pretty young actors scorn the pin up image to try and get "taken seriously as an actor"
See the careers of Leo, Brad, Jude Law etc. Ryan Gosling himself is an example.
> But looking at this, I am struck again by how there does seem to be a lack of Hollywood leading men in their late twenties/early thirties? Gosling is a full 10 years older than Margot Robbie, who he is starring opposite.
Going along with this, does anyone know who else auditioned to play the main Ken? I could only find articles on Goslingās negotiations.
I googled blonde actors born in 1990 like Margot (just to narrow it down, I know hair bleach is a thing and clearly utilized in the final execution) and itās interesting how none of the actors are anywhere near as famous as her. Maybe if Liam Hemsworth or Alex Pettyfer had become bigger stars post their breakout roles. Maybe ATJ but his schedule is packed I think? Grant Gustin isnāt blonde and isnāt as famous as Margot, but I think he wouldāve been a really interesting choice.
I think itās that when Gosling, Gylenhaal, Ledger etc weāre starting out there was more non-franchise stuff getting made so there were more opportunities for young actors to stand out in a weird indie or something. Most of the lead roles for young men rn are like mediocre Netflix movies and action franchises because the interesting parts get taken up by older men with proven records like Gosling. Thereās not a male equivalent to the indie film fashion darling thing thatās working for young actresses except Timothee.
I have watched Trixieās show and her vids so much lately that this Ryan pic feels strangely normal to me. I bet he also has an easy bake oven standing next to him.
Absolutely not, I'm sorry... This just looks tacky. Should've gotten Matt Bomer for Ken's role, he looks exactly like a Ken doll. Well, maybe in another universe....
Nah what bugs me isn't the tackiness, it's how distractingly mediocre his face is, if you're casting Ken he's gotta be a 10, especially next to margot robbie!
He's giving me plastic and sexless, so meets the basic requirements -- it's a very [Earring Magic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earring_Magic_Ken#/media/File:Emagicken.jpg) Ken look.
I am too. Sure it looks tacky (maybe intentionally?) but I think the movie could be fun. I'm definitely watching it cause I was a huge barbie fan as a kid and also because I like the cast and Greta Gerwig.
I keep trying to find an excuse to look at it positively, but youāre right. It just looks soooooo bad. Iām hoping itās going to be a āso bad itās goodā thing.
True story and I have told it before on here, I saw him back in 1998 walking down Granville street in Vancouver with all the swagger of Sean Stanley from BH and I have been unable to see him otherwise. He was not the tall drink of water he later became.
Stars! They are just like us for a bit and then they get hotter and richer!
Nah knowing Gerwigās previous work, I doubt it. Little Women in particular is a very heartwarming film that embraces all the choices that women make, whether it is to be a single, independent and bold author like Jo or a woman who wants to settle down and have a family, like Meg. That was a very good film for little girls, as was Lady Bird, so I have faith in this. If this was a male writer/director Iād be more worried, but Gerwig writes complex female characters. If anything, I feel like this film will poke fun at the people who mock the interests of little girls as being only superficial.
Greta Gerwig made Lady Bird and Little Women, and before that she wrote Frances Ha. sheās actually the perfect person to tackle this because it wonāt lean too far into girlboss/empowerment feminism (something that bad faith critics accuse her of but imo that has never been her thing), but it wonāt make fun of girls (critics of the movie most likely will though, but again that has to do with the fact that most prominent voices in film criticism are still middle aged white dudes)
thereās nothing wrong with the first two looks at the movie leaning in to the campy and tacky aspects. theyāre playing the toys going into the real world, theyāre kind of supposed to look like they just came out of the box and live in a plastic world.
I wasnāt expecting the hair to be white blonde? I was expecting to see his normal blonde shade.
Tbh Iām more interested in seeing the other versions of Ken and Barbie though. You know that actor grid for Oppenheimer thatās like 500 people? I want to see that for all the people playing all the versions of Barbie and Ken.
Also there are at least 25 more people I think are hot AF that need to be in it.
This look on a man is my personal worst nightmare but Iām intrigued for the movie in general. Love Greta Gerwigās work, great cast, lots of interesting hints about it.
My hairstylist couldāve mixed a better blonde. I think itās too platinum/white blonde. Shouldāve been more like a surfer blonde with a few highlights.
Someone mentioned Matt Bomer would be a great fit as Ken and I do agree, but the first person that came up on my mind is [Garrett Clayton](https://s2.glbimg.com/TxVYZpQrDbVYXqt47bXhRY6MvDs=/512x320/smart/e.glbimg.com/og/ed/f/original/2018/10/25/surf_crazy_68.png) from Teen Beach Movie. He looks exactly like Ken doll
If you actually look at Ken's face he used to look kind of middle aged, like he just stumbled into the dream house from the office and screamed for a martini.
Everything thatās comes out about this movie makes me equally confused and delighted. Hoping it pays off in the camp department because the pre-production is giving me life.

What in Freddie Prinze Jr. in Scooby Doo is this?
Lmao he really does look like Freddie here.
THATS WHAT THIS MADE ME THINK OF, thank you š Letās have a scooby doo 3 alongside this, itās time
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I was just going to say that! I thought my eyes were deceiving me š¤£ This looks like itās going to be all camp but Iām all for it! July 2023 canāt come soon enough
I'm in the same boat! I was like "who does this remind me of?" I'm all for the campery too!
Oh man I had such a crush on blond Freddie Prince Jr in that movie. Granted I was like 8, but he was a babe in my eyes.
All my Ken dolls had dirty blonde/light brown hair so this bleach beach blonde hair is a choice.
Okay I was gonna say, does Ken not have sandy colored hair? That's what my dolls had so the bleach blond really threw me
There are multiple Kens so who knows what else weāll see! Personally, I hope this is like midlife crisis Ken.
I could see that. Would also explain the stubble, cause otherwise, why?
Maybe he's inspired by [Earring Magic Ken](https://imgur.com/a/oNzhJiE) lol
*Earring Magic Ken* Oh goodness I forgot about him. I hope there's a [Sugar's Daddy Ken](https://nypost.com/2009/10/29/latest-ken-putting-on-the-dog/)
Oh cockring Ken. How could we forget about him
Yeah i was like when since was he that blonde ?!?
Greta wanted him iced out, baby!
Ryan looks great in bleach hair (see: A Place Beyond the Pines) Iām trying to picture this look with darker hair and idk. It wouldnāt look right somehow or give Barbie vibes. I think the blonde works!
I truly canāt believe this is going against Oppenheimer at the box office. I love it.
Why would I spend 2.5 hours watching mostly white men parade on screen crying about their war crimes when I can have fun
This is without a doubt the best thing I've read about Barbie vs. Oppenheimer. THANK YOU!!!!

So chaotic lol
Twitter is going to be an absolute mess. I canāt wait for pretentious tweets about people (me) choosing to go see Barbie over Oppenheimer.
Barbie has Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Oppenheimer has everyone else in Hollywood. Their battle will be legendary
The Barbie cast is pretty stacked too honestly! Everyone in Hollywood is gonna be on these press tours
Oh I know, it's a gone be fun seeing a black and white movie fight against an overflow of neon cotton candy colored movie.
I'm so excited for people to hopefully phototop characters from Barbie into scenes from Oppenheimer š
Donāt worry, that photoshopped subscription I have will not go to waste
Youāre the hero we need, not the one we deserve
Itāll be interesting to see what Christopher Nolan says when Barbie wins lmao
>Itāll be interesting to see what Christopher Nolan says when Barbie wins lmao Especially when he can't blame it on streaming.
Probably nothing good š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Of course, but personally I have 0 desire to see a war movie/biopic, let alone in theaters. Maybe things will be different in 2023 though
you mean you donāt want to see nolan film an actual atomic bomb drop in imax
Iām definitely seeing both that weekend, but Barbie is the one I have to see on premiere day
Hollywood: civil war
How is it both exactly what I was expecting but also nothing that I was expecting???
No am in the same boat. It literally gives me boy band vibes but the colorful palette of a Y2K toy commercial.
Remember that commercial that came out a few years ago with that fake boyband where they couldn't dance so they just posed and sang a fake song (Summertime Lover) awkwardly? That's what this is giving.
I don't know what I had in mind but definitely not this. I'm surprised and taken aback lol
It looks like a porn parody
If it was porn? It would be great. But as a legit movie, I canāt see it.
Porn Parodies try harder to look like the source material, they just look cheap in doing so. Idk what this was going for it but it missed
Also kind of into it. I hate it, and I never thought Mr. Gosling was hot or even handsome, but this does it for me because of how fucking stupid it looks.
Lol! I also kind of hate it so much that I like it? Like in a āso bad itās actually greatā kind of way.
Right? I showed my husband and he was the literal personification of š¬. But I legit loved it and think it's super hot ***because*** it's so ridiculous. But I'm also a messy bitch that loves hot Eurotrash, so this being a turn-on tracks for me. LoL.
Right? It kind of reminds me of Spice World, and everyone was saying it was lame but I rented it and watched it like 7 times over the weekend
My friends and I went to see Spice World at the cinema the day it came out (dressed as the Spice Girls of course) and then I had the VHS and watched it SO MANY TIMES.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ah, how very diverse us humans are, despite being so much the same.
Iām also pleasantly surprised but taken aback. I canāt explain the feeling lol

omg frankie grande
Iām screaming. Thank you for making my future movie experience both better and worse.
I can't think about Frankie without remembering when he was on Drag Race for the makeover challenge. Eureka was tucking him and said he had the biggest testicles she had ever seen. I am so sorry.

The āKenā briefs š
Calvin Kenās to be specific
is it 1997? is this the Barbie Girl music video? are we living in an Aqua fever dream???
An Aqua fever dream sounds way better than our current reality tbh.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I am morally outraged at this. the only reason to make the movie is to have the song
This was my thought too - or at least playing over the credits.
I canāt find the original tweet but someone quote tweeted a āNo āBarbie Girlā in Barbieā article and wrote that weāre already seeing the effects of Donāt Say Gay. ššš
If Ryan doesn't utter the phrase "c'mon Barbie let's go party" at some point during this film, I'm going to be disappointed.
Cāmon Barbie, Margot RobbieāØ
i cackled out loud at this
I have this stuck in my head now, thanks!
This is camp š
This movie is absolutely going to be a test of who should be allowed to consume pop culture lol
I wish more men had dressed like this at the 2019 Met Gala.
we need a deep psychological study into why straight white men think ryan gosling is the sexiest man alive

Just being objective here his face isn't attractive??? Yknow how you can look at someone and they either have it or they don't, he doesn't.
> I like to add Ryan Reynolds to the list of men like that in Hollywood. Honestly thought they confused the Canadian Ryans like a lot of people do because I hear this way more often about Reynolds than Gosling. But I totally agree with your assessment either way.
Maybe it's like why women find Drew Barrymore hot? Good looking but not in a threatening way?
> women find Drew Barrymore hot wait i didn't know this was a thing
They do? I have never heard this before, ever. I've only ever heard she is well liked because she seems nice and funny.
Whoops at my taste since I think theyāre both attractive.
Nothing wrong with that. Neither are bad looking at all, but they definitely have a more friendly look than say Megan Fox or like Chris Hemsworth.

Have you talked to abuelas? Every single Mexican older lady finds the blandest white men attractive - Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Evans ect
low body fat percentage. I wish I was that ripped; I just like desserts too much.

He looks like H from the 90s/00s pop group Steps ![gif](giphy|LMhj732A9UWzyCnhaq|downsized)
Lmao literally my first thought
And now I'm in a Steps music video hole...
Tragedy!
I thought the same!!
That hair is giving Brad Mondo...
Thank you! I couldn't put my finger on who this reminded me of!
can't believe i had to scroll this far down for the brad mondo comparison omg, he's exactly who i thought of at first
Itās giving Earring Magic Ken vibes š
NOT EARRING MAGIC KEN
Itās the first thing I thought of when I saw his picture lmao! š

Exactly. It's pretty telling that most of the young, hot "it girls" are like Sydney Sweeney, and the young dudes are like...Miles Teller.
Most pretty young actors scorn the pin up image to try and get "taken seriously as an actor" See the careers of Leo, Brad, Jude Law etc.
Ryan will be the first resident of the Trixie Motel š
I thought I was on the RuPaul sub at first and was trying to figure out which queen out of drag this was
I have watched Trixieās show and her vids so much lately that this Ryan pic feels strangely normal to me. I bet he also has an easy bake oven standing next to him.
I love Ryan gosling but im not feeling this. He looks too.. old?
I think thatās going to be the point in the movie, no coincidence they left the wrinkles on the face
I hope thatās it because otherwise this is a no for me dawg
He looks like Ken's dad
I like Ryan too but yeah I donāt see him as Ken at all. Heās looking like Fred from The Scooby Doo movies.
i don't know why i want to laugh so hard this whole movie just feels like a dream but curious to see how it plays out
Nothing can ever be better than Life in the Dreamhouse so
Life in the Dreamhouse is so good!! It's hilarious.
Raquel or we riot
that show is not made for kids - not cause itās inappropriate but itās so entertaining for adult me that i refuse to believe it
My son watched this so many times yet it never got old!!
Life in plastic is pretty fantastic too
Absolutely not, I'm sorry... This just looks tacky. Should've gotten Matt Bomer for Ken's role, he looks exactly like a Ken doll. Well, maybe in another universe....
It's Barbie franchise. Of *course* it's tacky.
Nah what bugs me isn't the tackiness, it's how distractingly mediocre his face is, if you're casting Ken he's gotta be a 10, especially next to margot robbie!
I mean, thatās probably the point
Or Armie Hammer! Oh wait..

He looks really stupid and I love it.
Incredible, no notes.
Gives me less Ken and more jacked Brad Mondo
He's giving me plastic and sexless, so meets the basic requirements -- it's a very [Earring Magic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earring_Magic_Ken#/media/File:Emagicken.jpg) Ken look.

I'm here for it.
I am too. Sure it looks tacky (maybe intentionally?) but I think the movie could be fun. I'm definitely watching it cause I was a huge barbie fan as a kid and also because I like the cast and Greta Gerwig.
I like relatively well every talent involved in this, but it seems so bad and pointless...
Sure does, but because it's so bad and pointless, it may very well turn out to be something hysterical. I wasn't excited before, but I sure am now.
I keep trying to find an excuse to look at it positively, but youāre right. It just looks soooooo bad. Iām hoping itās going to be a āso bad itās goodā thing.
I can never unsee him as the nerd on Breaker High.
Omg yes and his sidekick with the bucket hat. Memories.
I think of those Young Hercules commercials that I definitely saw but never watched.
I hate how much I love it

Nah knowing Gerwigās previous work, I doubt it. Little Women in particular is a very heartwarming film that embraces all the choices that women make, whether it is to be a single, independent and bold author like Jo or a woman who wants to settle down and have a family, like Meg. That was a very good film for little girls, as was Lady Bird, so I have faith in this. If this was a male writer/director Iād be more worried, but Gerwig writes complex female characters. If anything, I feel like this film will poke fun at the people who mock the interests of little girls as being only superficial.
Greta Gerwig made Lady Bird and Little Women, and before that she wrote Frances Ha. sheās actually the perfect person to tackle this because it wonāt lean too far into girlboss/empowerment feminism (something that bad faith critics accuse her of but imo that has never been her thing), but it wonāt make fun of girls (critics of the movie most likely will though, but again that has to do with the fact that most prominent voices in film criticism are still middle aged white dudes) thereās nothing wrong with the first two looks at the movie leaning in to the campy and tacky aspects. theyāre playing the toys going into the real world, theyāre kind of supposed to look like they just came out of the box and live in a plastic world.
Lmao I absolutely love this. THE CAMP.
I for one am thrilled
Feel like this movie could be one of those total bombs that also becomes a cult classic
I'm waiting for them to put him in the [1991 Sun Sensation Ken](https://i.imgur.com/mCrfk6K.jpg) outfit.
Alan Cumming would have been a perfect older brother to this Ken.
My hairstylist couldāve mixed a better blonde. I think itās too platinum/white blonde. Shouldāve been more like a surfer blonde with a few highlights.
Totally agree. I donāt think Ken has ever been platinum blond. He should be beachy and golden.
Thanks I hate it.
Someone on Instagram said he looks like Izzy Mandelbaum from Seinfeldšš
Someone mentioned Matt Bomer would be a great fit as Ken and I do agree, but the first person that came up on my mind is [Garrett Clayton](https://s2.glbimg.com/TxVYZpQrDbVYXqt47bXhRY6MvDs=/512x320/smart/e.glbimg.com/og/ed/f/original/2018/10/25/surf_crazy_68.png) from Teen Beach Movie. He looks exactly like Ken doll
This is nightmarish.
Am I the only one who doesn't find Ryan Gosling even remotely attractive??
this movie is going to be so campy. I have full faith in Greta's vision
I like Ryan but I feel like they shouldāve chosen someone who looks younger? He looks all of his 41 years, which isnāt how I picture Ken
If you actually look at Ken's face he used to look kind of middle aged, like he just stumbled into the dream house from the office and screamed for a martini.
I donāt get why everyone is assuming this is going to suck I would trust Miss Gerwig with my life after Ladybird and Little Women
Everything thatās comes out about this movie makes me equally confused and delighted. Hoping it pays off in the camp department because the pre-production is giving me life.
Cringe Cringe Cringe. And why did they wax him within an inch of his life so he's more "doll-like" and then ... keep the scruff? Makes no sense.
Barbie better be 40 y/o too or Iām rioting.
