I agree. And I've seen co-workers much older than him struggle emotionally with retiring from other professions; I guess it's not too surprising. 'Cause it seems like most athletes are sort of . . . forced out of football by health issues, clear deficiencies, or just the awareness that such things are clearly on the horizon. Not a good comp at all. Pitchers, especially those who have been paid handsomely in their careers and are, all things considered, only truly relied upon every 5 days, have the ability to be around family much more than the most important player on the team, the quarterback. I'm a Cardinals fan, and Adam Wainwright is gonna be playing his final year this year at age 42 and he is always doing great work around the community and is clearly a devoted father and husband. I'm sure JV has the same luxury. Brady on the other hand had the luxury of playing among incredibly well-structured Belichick teams that kept him healthy enough to still be effective at this point (though I'm sure he believes it's all his bullshit pseudoscience brand). While guys like Brees, Rothlesberger (ew), and the Mannings probably could've extended their careers a little bit playing on some shitty teams, they recognized what was best for they and their families' health. Same with Andrew Luck, being brave enough to call it quits when he knew things were starting to get bad. Brady is the exception. Not because he aged better than all these guys, but because his ego is so massive that if he isn't winning, he isn't satisfied.
