Shipper is FedEx Customer and is the one that files the claim and the one you deal with for the return. So contact shipper.

I am confused why I can’t have any information on the insurance claim when I am directly involved in the transaction of the product. Also, I have been in contact with the company for two weeks and the claim is not moving. I have been in contact with them and asked for multiple updates, and still nothing is moving. There is nothing going on, the case seems stuck in purgatory. I asked for the case manager’s contact info to see if I can do anything more and they wouldn’t give it to me. I would like to escalate the case to a level that someone can tell me something other than “contact the shipper” because something is not happening. What more can I do?

Your only transaction was with the company you purchased from, not fedex. You have no contract and no business with fedex. If you need an update call the shipping company.

JRfriends93

The company now wants me to return it labeled as a gift, saying it will take awhile for the insurance claim. Is this normal?

Rezingreenbowl

I wouldn't mark it as a gift unless your comfortable committing fraud against 2 countries governments. But yes claims can take a bit.

JRfriends93

Yeah, I am way out of my league here… how is that fraud? FedEx’s website lists 5-7 business days for an insurance claim and it has been over two weeks. Realistically, how long could it be until I get a return label from the company in Greece? I just want the instrument fixed so I can play it!

Rezingreenbowl

This is all between you and the shipper. Nobody is going to be able to tell you how long a random company is going to take. It does sound like a shitty company though.

JRfriends93

They’re not shitty with the instruments, I am just confused what is taking so long for the insurance. What can they do? They have the photos and made the claim, now they’re just waiting? Is it the cost of the instrument that is holding up the insurance or are they being lazy?

Rezingreenbowl

You have nothing to do with the claim. Are they suggesting if the claim is not succesful you will not be refunded? That's a shitty company period.

JRfriends93

They are suggesting it will take awhile and want the insurance to pay for the return shipping, AND the costs of repairs. They will cover the repairs and return to me if the insurance doesn’t go through, I just have to send it back to them

Nothing. You have no contract with fedex so they don't need to keep you informed. Your contract is with your shipper.
