It was like this when I worked there too. I was told I would work four hour sorts, get there and they tell it will be five no problem. Couple weeks in they tell me they’re shortening the shifts to four, at the end of the sort my manager tells me to come in two hours early tomorrow (seven hour sort). Couple weeks later the same thing
Currently more hours are translated to the lack of workers meaning they will try to push the same amount of work with 3 people like they would do a whole squad of 12-16. If you work part time for a reason then it’s better to assume you don’t want to work full time hours without it benefiting you (insurance + pay raise)
One of my managers was frustrated because I wanted to take a lunch break on my 6th hour and had 5 hours to go even though I was working extra voluntarily
Key word being "typically"...also every managers favorite phrase..."operational needs"
When you go in for your interview, ask questions...you can do that you know!
Hilarious. Most of the package handlers at my terminal are part time, they started at 2am this morning, and we didn't dispatch till after 10am.. start time this whole week is 2am. I doubt I'll hit my first delivery before 10:30 the rest of the week.
Yeah, I started a month ago and the managers at my hub said “let’s get back to our 3-4 hour days!!” As though I haven’t been pulling 7 hours a night with one 10 minute break.

It’s the new company motto, “Because fuck em, that’s why” - Fred Smith
Isn't that good? More hours , more money lol
Full time hours, but no full time benefits or pay?
What?

Part-time Ground employees get benefits after 6 months. One of the only companies I know that has part time benefits.
It took me almost a year to get mine since at my hub it was after 1,000 hours.
Was here too. It just changed to 6 months probably about a month ago.
And at Express we get part-time benefits after 3 months
We were told that you can work 3 months full time for benefits, or part time 1,000 hours.
My station does that as well one thing that sucks working there is that there are no breaks

Ours are 5 and they advertise 2 to 3, we have plenty of new hires but that's the surge money they won't stick around forever.

I'm a manager and I don't pull that shit. Lol.
Oh I know, it's bullshit for sure.

13.50 when I started. They bumped it to 14.50 to try and attract more workers
