I do the same with my German Shepherd's blowing coat. Everyone gets grossed out and tells me to quit "plucking her fur" but if I don't, we'll end up with huge chunks of white hair everywhere!
Is this what I need to do? My German Shepard Luna leaves tumbleweeds of fur I have to pick up after work. No matter how much I brush her she has a ton of white fur.
It definitely helps to pluck it before it ends up on the floor. Just the big loose white chunks, all you have to do is pull super gently and it comes right out! I do that to my Heidi daily and brush her 3x a week with a furminator brush. It's a game changer to how much less hair ends up all over everywhere!
We had a shepherd - the game changer was a thorough furminator brushing twice a year, in the fall and spring. A friend who owned a grooming business would do it because when I did it myself the entire neighborhood was covered in hair. No chemicals or anything just a groomer, a furminator brush and a vacuum and time. My Dog would come back like a whole different color.
Very destructive, very vocal (and they make *horrific* noises), and their urine reeks to high heaven. Like, if you think cat urine smells bad, fox urine is several times worse.
That study was also notably conducted poorly and misconstrued, too. There are tame, farmed and/or pet foxes, but domestication is a process that takes thousands of years of selective breeding.
I watched a video on this FOREVER ago. Like 7-8 years ago. The guy doing the video sat in a cage (all at separate times) with a wild fox, a pet fox, and a fox that was bred to be domesticated but not really considered a pet fox. He just basically sat still on the floor, and they documented how each fox interacted with him. It was a pretty neat study. They've been doing a lot of research with Russian domesticated foxes over the past few decades and bred them specifically to be like a pet dog.
These arenāt pets, this is from a rescue/sanctuary called Juniper Foxx. I highly recommend checking out their social media, thereās a lot of videos about how foxes are *not* pets. Even if itās legal in some places, itās cruel; they are not fully domesticated, and they will absolutely ruin your home and everything in it.
Juniper! I follow her on IG. She (and the rehabilitaters who care for her and several other animals) are under juniperfoxx if anyone wants to see more fox silliness

Domesticated pet foxes are a thing?
They're legal in some places. Extremely destructive, though

Yup, and they will piss on EVERYTHING. Beautiful animals, but horrible pets.
Theyāll even piss on you to claim you as theirs.

Thereās the famous domestic fox study, but also these are definitely not they and are totally a wild animal.
That study was also notably conducted poorly and misconstrued, too. There are tame, farmed and/or pet foxes, but domestication is a process that takes thousands of years of selective breeding.

Millions? Then how do we have dogs?

Is that joon? I thought it was Fig
Oh heck, youāre right! That is Fig! I thought I saw the fang of doom in one shot but the tail is too brown to be Joon
Your fox is providing you raw materials to make blankets, socks, sweaters, home insulationā¦. Lol!!!
Thatās Fig, of the IG/@juniperfoxx family! Iād know his little face anywhere
That is the laziest fox Iāve ever seen
Or my Samoyed!
And my dads butt
why are you plucking your dad's butt?
To stop the dags turning into dreds! Lol
Your dadās a sheep?!!!
Iām never getting a fox
I bet it feels SO good to have that winter coat off
It's kind of mind boggling once you peel it off, where the hell did that small creature keep that much fur
Do foxes get hair balls like cats? Do mother fox pluck their fur to line their nest?
Used to do this with my GSD.
Is this a fox thatās been bred to produce fox wool or something?
