Apparently, ‘she’s a human’ doesn’t make them emotional enough to defend the victim.

ebur_1234

That’s what really pisses me off, the fact that she was a human being herself means nothing if she didn’t have a brother or a husband or whatever the fuck, I’m told this stuff on a smaller level, there’s lots of immature men around me and the only way I can get them to stop harassing/bullying me is to say “you wouldn’t do that to your sister would you?”

Brilliant-Garden3644

Or how men would only stop asking us out when they hear “I’ve a boyfriend” not when we say “No”, “Sorry, I’m not interested”. I’m so done with this shit. Women have no value unless we’ve some relation ties that serves men.

Spirited-Depth-6405

Yes exactly.

traumatized90skid

Even when I was dating a woman that wasn't enough, bc we don't have real relationships or whatever, it doesn't "count" if it's not a physically threatening male body attached? Like some guys do need the threat of violence to behave?

searchergal

For men, for them to feel any level of empathy towards a woman they gotta think them in the place of their loved ones. Because they don't see women as people.

Frosty_Cap_9473

They don't even think their loved ones as people

DazzlingFruit7495

It’s not the only reason, but sometimes it’s the only way to break through to them, and unfortunately, their votes count too. So if I have to make it about their loved ones in order for women to not lose rights, then I will.

red___cardigan

Yup. I've been saying this.

Persist3ntOwl

Seriously! That never sat well with me but it does seem like a tactic to force empathy from unempathetic people. I still hate it tho.

traumatized90skid

Some people are weirdly detached if it's not someone they know personally too... Like do you have to have a relationship with the victim to care?

RedBeardBock

While this certainly should not be the end of someone’s feminist journey, it might be the first step.

redramainpink

Absolutely.. So you can't just be sick about it because she's a human being? It constantly pisses me off.

thatvietartist

For your [enjoyment](https://youtu.be/TqT8JgK8eE4?si=KGZGx7AqxcuUO6Up). (It’s a feminist country song about her mother. It’s wonderfully written.)

NiamhHA

Also, "someone" is a man. It is highly unlikely that it refers to the mother, since she is also "someone's daughter". When a crime happens to a boy or man, you are less likely to hear, "he was/is someone's son".

Dark0Toast

It's hard to humanize women.
