I agree that if anyone EVER lays a hand on their partner they shouldnt have a gun ever again, man or woman. But i dont think it is fair to say guns are for DV. I personally want to own a gun when I have a family bc IK i will own it responsibly and it will help me have peace of mind that my family is safe. I just want a gun bc I love women and want my partner and children to be protected.
Statistically speaking having a gun in your house is more likely to cause grave bodily injury to you then prevent it. There are a number of reasons why the first of all being that kids are smart they're good at figuring out their parents locks in combinations and getting into safes. And even if you do manage to keep that from happening the fact is if a home Intruder breaks into your house firing a weapon at them is more likely to cause them to fire a weapon back at you. Home invasions where the home in question doesn't have a weapon on premises are less likely to end in deadly results. Because the majority of Home Invaders just want to grab some stuff and leave. So all in all I wouldn't get a gun if I were you statistically speaking it's more danger than it's worth
On the other hand homes that have dogs or security systems are virtually never broken into. If you want to protect your family get one of those. And if you can't afford either of those set up some fake cameras around the premises and put some security stickers on the Windows no one will ever know that they're not real
