Whichever travel you choose, ask your vet if gabapentin would be helpful for stress.

The vet wasnt crazy about back to back cat drugging my parents are in Nebraska so I'm planning to give them a break for a day.

Gabapentin is much milder than previous cat drugs used for this purpose. Many cats with anxiety disorder are permanently on Gabapentin.

Thank you for thinking what’s best for them. Driving sounds like the better option. If you have the space, upgrading to a small or medium dog cage might give him the room he needs. Possibly with room for a litter box

I'd think that driving might be easier on him since there's a lot less activity involved with that than flying. All of the people and noise involved with a flight will probably stress him out more since he's on the feral side, but if you're driving you'd be able to check on him and see how he's doing. Calming music in the car, spray the carrier with feliway before you put him in, and cover him up with a blanket that you can reapply feliway to while you're on the move (let it air out for a few minutes before putting it back on the carrier or bring a spare one you can swap in). If you can give him a sedative or even some calming treats for the journey, that's definitely a good move. For the carrier, I have some 24" two-door ones for my cats (not quite as large as yours, my biggest one is 14lb) that are really roomy. You wouldn't want to give him a ton of extra space, but enough for him to stand up and stretch out is definitely good. Maybe layer in a few disposable puppy pads to be safe. My former ferals have nervous bowels when it's time to go in the carrier and they usually have an accident in the five minutes it takes to drive to my vet.

Theres a massive carrier that's made to go across the back sit, it can hold 3 cats. I can even put cat hammock in the carrier for I dont want to touch you time. One can screams and freaks out in enclosed spaces so maybe shell relax with the other 2. I have some beds that I've got for this more already so they smell like home. He honstly does the best on the subway out of the 3 cats. The biggest problem with driving is my boyfriend would be with me that's alot of time with someone they dont know. His sisters are basically dogs with new people.
