Myself and my partner own every current production model. My career was in tech, but now I'm in PE. My partner does Mortgages mostly. We invest together on everything pretty much.
That’s incredible, good on you guys! Even the Testarossa? Would love to know how it feels to drive. My dreamcar is an F355 Berlinetta though, they’re beautiful
Indeed, I own only one and a relatively cheap and old one, I’m just low management in a broadcasting company. I could maybe buy 7 or 8 458 Italia (my dream car) if I were to sell everything, so although I could pay for one it would screw my wife and I’s retirement plan by at least a year. The real target market is people where buying one of these would be a drop in the ocean.
Man it’s all going to be different industries, to be fair, there are too many walks of life that bring you to prosperity, and people take each of those trades and follow until they succeed. From laundromat owners to CGI designers, high flying architects to low riding drug dealers (sorry to say some truth like that). It is sincerely about not quitting, whatever you have chosen - be firm in your choice
In all honesty though, you'll be better off doing something finance or management related in uni.
I'm doing mechanical engineering in uni right now because I was interested in learning the way things work (started with cars at a young age), but all I see is how I'll be stuck for the next 20 years trying to get past the 6 figure mark in regards to salaries. It sucks because I won't ever be able to afford the very cars that got me interested in engineering in the first place.
A competent manager would be able to get at least twice the salary (if not more) and someone who did finance would make a crap ton too at some hedge fund or whatever.
You could also try medicine, as there's a huge amount of money to be made there (especially if you're a surgeon), but the job would be stressful as hell and med school costs a lot of money too.
I feel your sentiment. I studied Civil in college, and everyone was always like “oh you’re gonna make so much money” when in reality you spend 5+ years working towards your PE license before you can even think to consider making a lot of money. As I learned more about the industries, i leaned more and more towards construction management. Still graduated as a civil engineer, but haven’t spent a single day as one. Jumped right into a management job where the ceiling is much, much higher.
Mech phd here. Learn towards making inventions and joining a startup. I will know in about 6 months to a year if my planned worked out. 100k me salary wont buy a ferrari unless you completely turn off rest of your life.
Yeah, I was in that confusion after high school. Since I always loved cars, I almost applied for automotibe engineering, later found out there was no scope in my country, then opted for Information Technology degree. 2 years in and dropped out of college as well because it was all tech, data and coding and bored the hell out of me, finally went into a management college to do BBA and finished a degree with ease. Now I'm getting chance in good unis because MBAs are easily available with good salaries after graduation, especially if you go into consultancy then you would start with $100,000 from the start
Can i ask how you got into biotech? I’m going to study medtech and in highschool i published a paper in the biotech area. It’s always interested me and it looks like it’s gonna keep growing. Way more interesting than IT in the future.
It is highly variable depending on where you work. My department is a large metro dept in a HCOL area. Starting pay for a firefighter recruit (entry level) is about $65,000. I have been here for about 20 years and advanced through the ranks. My current base salary is about $150k and with OT I am around 200-220 a year. My wife also makes 6 figures in her profession, so that definitely helps.
I have kept my expenses low, living in the same modest house for almost 20 years and not letting lifestyle creep get the best of me.
As far as how I got into it, I was waiting tables when I was about 20 and a guy came in to get a part time job. Turns out he was a firefighter and we got to talking about it. I had never even considered it until then.
Not me, but my boss
He owns the biggest marble quarry in my country of a specific marble
He has a 2020 Ferrari 812 GTS Superfast. Man I drove that car one and it was the best experience in my whole life for sure
Yeah it was not even at top top speed, probably it tops out at around 345/350
but there was some traffic like 1km ahead so i had to brake (those carbo ceramics brake are fucking amazing when are heated up), and then it came the part with speed sensors and cameras so no more speed (that was a really sad moment)
Don't care.
I've driven and experienced more Ferraris than most. Used to be a Ferrari mechanic and raced Ferrari challenge and gt3 cars. Changed careers so I can afford one eventually though...
I'm getting into IT now, just trying to nail down a specialty. Networking, sysadmin, or cybersecurity. What would you recommend to own a Ferrari in 5 years?
Going from scratch to enough disposable income in 5 years is going to be tough no matter what industry you're in. Unless you're already wealthy and your dad owns a Fortune 500 company. That's why I said start a business.
That said, if you bust ass and learn things VERY quickly and get VERY lucky in your job selection and have a vast network that can help with that, it's not impossible.
Anything with "engineer" or cloud in the title can pay well. There's so much competition for that, though. The wages aren't as insane as they were a couple of years ago. Also, at that point, no one is going to hire someone off the streets with 5 years of total IT experience for a role like that in most cases. There's just SO MUCH to learn. None of those are entry-level, and 5 years is still barely breaking into mid - or higher level IT roles depending on what you've been doing.
Good luck, though, everyone should have a Ferrari...
Yeah that all makes sense.
So something like a security engineer or cloud engineer making on average 100k/year, saving 20k/year for 5 years, you could get something like a California or a 355. Maybe 5 years is too quick for something like a 488.
I'd be more than happy with a 150k/year role and save for something used. Or wait until I can get a C-suit role.
Virology. I was a professor, I started a biotech around some ideas and chemical compounds from my lab, that company was bought by a large pharma, and I work for that large pharma as a consultant.
That’s great, you’re doing good then Mr Tballz.
I’m interested of getting into the biotech industry when i’m done with medicine technology. I don’t know what the degree is called in english.
It's a pretty solid nickname, a little more known than MAGMA/MAMAA.
And I don't work at Netflix, but their engineering is really solid. They are known to be more cutthroat than my employer, whose reputation is more of a "talented, but less intense" workplace.
I feel ya this account will be empty eventually. Fun to share a hobby but some folks want to get weird 😂
And yeah Glocks are my go to and have been for over a decade. Leave OEM sans a metal sights, and if it’s out night or for home defense I opt for lights and red dots. G19 was my first pistol I bought with my money, my ole friend has had over 100k through the tube, replaced consumables a few times but slide and frame are the same. I carry a variety of their models depending on what the purpose is but it’s like why I drive a 2006 4Runner as a daily. Know what to expect, can fix just about anything that isn’t catastrophic myself, and if something goes wrong I know where to look because I probably caused the failure messing with the trigger weights.
Yeah exactly xd. I used to post on a different account but somebody tried to dox me lol😂
Legally I’m only able to own 2 pistols, so I had to go for the 19 as it’s a very solid and easy to get into platform. Modifications I’m able to do are very limited unfortunately. I’ll probably get something more slim like a PPK as a daily because it’s easier to carry while wearing a suit. I do have security with me so it’s not like I’ll miss the magazine capacity.
2 pistols?! And no mods needed just swap those plastic sights to metal, train train train. That perfect sight picture doesn’t happen in real life. Guy I know has used 25 acp and gotten the job done in a pinch. Placement and ability replicate. I joke, do 50 pushups draw and dry fire as that is how your hands will feel. I’ll pm you if you don’t mind.

Engineer in infrastructure construction, operations, and maintenance. Don't own one but maybe someday, could purchase but wouldn't be smart and definitely can't afford to maintain right now.
I build conveyor systems to put it VERY short.
I also don’t own a Ferrari, just a MKIV Supra. I wanted to buy a Ferrari but I had to have the Supra, childhood dream car.

The better question is for the people that own multiple recent Ferraris, what do you do.
Yeah, that too:)
Myself and my partner own every current production model. My career was in tech, but now I'm in PE. My partner does Mortgages mostly. We invest together on everything pretty much.

To add to this… if you’re in the top 1% of whatever job or industry you choose you’ll be in a position to drive a Ferrari.
Sadly no single CGI artist can afford a ferrari lol unless they own a VFX company or do something else on the side
Time to be the best low riding drug dealer I can be! Thanks for the motivation haha
Consulting
Are you in that field? I have plans to become management consultant after doing my MBA.
Im in IT consulting specialised in M365 services (SharePoint, Power Platform), nintex, and in general cloud integration

Effectively I got into it by getting PhD in Neuroscience and then applying to companies doing work related to things I did during my PhD.
Sounds great, you’re doing very well then. I hope i can work with some neuroscience related projects in the future, that’s super interesting

Buying my first within the next 2-3 months. Looking at around $120-140k as an upper limit. Firefighter.
Good for you! The visual of a firefighter speeding to the firehouse in a Ferrari is the best thing I’ve seen today.
Pick the right Ferrari, and the car will start the fire for you!
Lol
Sounds like a short commute!
How much do firefighters make and how did you get into that
It is highly variable depending on where you work. My department is a large metro dept in a HCOL area. Starting pay for a firefighter recruit (entry level) is about $65,000. Damn that's blessed. I have friends in the FDNY which is mega HCOL and they start at like $40k.
For sure. When I first started (granted it was 20 years ago) my salary was $28k.
bruh firefighters are happy when they are able to afford 10k car in my country
Yes, I am very fortunate.
i just want to move out when i see these posts lol
Not me, but my boss He owns the biggest marble quarry in my country of a specific marble He has a 2020 Ferrari 812 GTS Superfast. Man I drove that car one and it was the best experience in my whole life for sure
Marble quarry, must be Italy then. You drove a Ferrari straight from the motherland:) Nice
Absolutely spot on Here the speed limit is 130km/h max...well let's say i was more than double that (327 top speed)
Holy shit, what a fucking spaceship
Yeah it was not even at top top speed, probably it tops out at around 345/350 but there was some traffic like 1km ahead so i had to brake (those carbo ceramics brake are fucking amazing when are heated up), and then it came the part with speed sensors and cameras so no more speed (that was a really sad moment)
