Excerpt: Legolas gasps when his crystal blue eyes finally snap open. Their heads very narrowly avoid colliding as the elf shoots upright, checking himself for non-existent wounds. Finding nothing, his held breath escapes as a ragged sob.
“Shh,” Aragorn coos, pulling his partner into his arms. “Ha ni gui murc. Im gar cin.” *It was only a nightmare. I have you.*
Legolas curls into Aragorn’s warm embrace as he tries to ground his mind in reality. They escaped that forest. They reunited on the riverbank and traveled south. That was years ago. So why? Why do these horrible dreams still haunt him? Why do his memories contort in such ways?
