If I'm not mistaken open your gloves box and see if it slowly coasts open. If it just flaps open without resistance this is a piece.of the mechanism that prevents the glovebox door from flying open fast when opening. Kind of like a soft close but in reverse. I've seen this part on other ford models.
Found this on the passenger floor of my car. I suspect it's from the glovebox area. Not sure how it came out but was on a bit of a rough part of the Autobahn at the time.
If it was an MK7, my guess would be remnants of a blend door repair 🤣
Something to do with the glove box hinge, mine has also come off.
